Influence of $Pr_6O_{11}/CoO$ Composition Ratio on I-V Characteristics of $ZnO-Pr_6O_{11}-CoO-Dy_2O_3$ Based varistors ($ZnO-Pr_6O_{11}-CoO-Dy_2O_3$계 바리스터의 I-V 특성에 $Pr_6O_{11}/CoO$ 조성비 영향)

  • The I-V characteristics of $ZnO-Pr_6O_{11}-CoO-Dy_2O_3$ based varistors were investigated in the $Pr_6O_{11}/CoO$ composition ratio range of 0.5/0.5 to 1.0/1.0 and sintering temperature range of 1300 to $1350^{\circ}C$ as the basic study to develop the advanced $Pr_6O_{11}$-based ZnO varistors. All varistors except for $Pr_6O_{11}$/CoO = 0.5/1.0 exhibited the best I-V characteristics at $1350^{\circ}C$. However, the varistors with $Pr_6O_{11}$/CoO= 0.5/1.0 exhibited the best I-V characteristics at $1350^{\circ}C$. The varistors with $Pr_6O_{11}$/CoO= 0.5/1.0 of all varistors exhibited the best I-V characteristics, which the nonlinear exponent is 36.9 and the leakage current is 7.6 ${\mu}A$ Therefore, it was estimated that ZnO-$Pr_6O_{11}-CoO-Dy_2O_3$ ceramics with $Pr_6O_{11}$/CoO= 0.5/1.0 will be usefully used as varistor materials in the future.

  • The microstructure and electrical characteristics of ZPCD (ZnO-$Pr_{6}O_{11}$-CoO-$Dy_2O_3$) -based varistor ceramics were investigated with various $Pr_{6}O_{11}$/CoO ratios and sintering temperatures. The density of varistor ceramics with $Pr_{6}O_{11}$=1.0 was almost constant with sintering temperature, whereas it was increased noticeably in $Pr_{6}O_{11}$=0.5. Increasing $Pr_{6}O_{11}$ content enhanced the densification for any CoO content and the density was greatly affected not by CoO content but by $Pr_{6}O_{11}$ content. The varistor ceramics with $Pr_{6}O_{11}$/CoO=0.5/l.0 exhibited a higher nonlinearity than any other composition ratios. In particular, the varistor ceramics sintered at $1350^{\circ}C$ exhibited the best electrical properties, with nonlinear exponent of 37.8, leakage current of 7.6 ${\mu}$A, and tan $\delta$ of 0.059.

  • The varistor characteristics of $ZnO-Pr_6O_11-CoO-Er_2O_3$-based ceramics were investigated. $ZnO-Pr_6O_11-CoO-Er_2O_3$-based ceramics were sintered at $1300^{\circ}C$ and $1350^{\circ}C$in the addition range 0.0~2.0mol% $Er_2O_3$, respectively. $ZnO-Pr_6O_11-CoO-Er_2O_3$-based ceramics, which are added with 0.5mol% $Er_2O_3$ at $1300^{\circ}C$ and l.Omol% $Er_2O_3$ at $1350^{\circ}C$ sintering temperature, exhibited the bestexcellent varistor characteristics, namely, the nonlinear exponent was better 52.78 at $1300^{\circ}C$ thanat 13$1350^{\circ}C$ and the leakage current was better 6.57$\mu\textrm$A at $1350^{\circ}C$ than at $1300^{\circ}C$. Consequently, it is estimated that $ZnO-Pr_6O_11-CoO-Er_2O_3$-based ceramics, which $Er_2O_3$ is added in the range 0.5~l.Omol% will begin to be used as a predominant basic composition of $PR_6O_11$-based ZnO varistors.

  • The electrical properties and stability of Pr$_{6}$/O$_{11}$-based ZnO wvaristors consisting of ZnO-Pr$_{6}$/O$_{11}$-CoO-Dy$_{2}$/O$_{3}$ based ceramics were investigated in the Dy$_{2}$/O$_{3}$ additive content range o 0.0 to 2.0 mol%. The density was nearly constant 5.62 g/cm$^3$corresponding to 97% of theoretical density as Dy$_{2}$/O$_{3}$ additive content increases up to 0.5 mol%. However the density decreased as Dy$_{2}$/O sub 3/ additive content is further additive content. Pr$_{6}$/O$_{11}$-based ZnO varistors doped with 0.5mol% Dy$_{2}$/O$_{3}$ exhibited a good nonlinearity, which is 37.76 in the nonlinear exponent and 5.36 $mutextrm{A}$ in the leakage current. And they exhibited very stress (0.80 V$_{1mA}$/9$0^{\circ}C$/12h)+(0.85 V$_{1mA}$/115$^{\circ}C$/12h)+(0.95 V$_{1mA}$/1$25^{\circ}C$/12h). Consequently it was estimated that ZnO-0.5 mol% Pr$_{6}$/O$_{11}$-1.0 mol% CoO-0.5 mol% Dy$_{2}$/O$_{3}$ based ceramics will be sufficiently used as a basic composition to develop the advanced Pr$_{6}$/O$_{11}$-based ZnO varistors in the future.he future.uture.he future.

  • The conduction characteristics of $Pr_6O_{11}$-based ZnO varistor were investigated. ZnO-$Pr_6O_{11}$-CoO-$Sm_2O_3$-based ZnO varistor were sintered at $1300^{\circ}C$ and $1350^{\circ}C$ in the addition range $0.0\sim2.0mol%$ $Sm_2O_3$, respectively. ZnO varistors which are added with 1.0mol% at each temperature exhibited best excellent conduction characteristics, namely the nonlinear exponent was 42.05 at $1300^{\circ}C$, 36.79 at $1350^{\circ}C$ and leakage current was $9.16{\mu}A$ at $1300^{\circ}C$, $11.7{\mu}A$ at $1350^{\circ}C$. Consequently, it is estimated that ZnO-$Pr_6O_{11}$-CoO-$Sm_2O_3$-based ZnO varistors, which $Sm_2O_3$ is added 1.0mol% is to be used as a basic composition of $Pr_6O_{11}$-based ZnO varistors.

  • ZnO varistor에서 희토류 산화물의 첨가는 비선형계 높게 만든다. 회토류 금속의 첨가로 높아진 비저항을 낮추기 위하여 3족 원소인 Al, Ga을 첨가하여 첨가 함량에 따른 ZnO-$Pr_6O_{11}$ varistor의 비저항을 낮추고자 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 Al과 Ga 첨가에 따른 ZnO-$Pr_6O_{11}$을 일반적인 세라믹 공정에 따라 제조하여, Al과 Ga 첨가에 따른 ZnO-$Pr_6O_{11}$ varistor의 특성을 미세구조 조직, 밀도, I-V 특성, 비저항 측정하였다. ZnO의 bulk 및 grain boundary 특성 변화를 각종 유전함수($Z^*$, $Y^*$, $M^*$, $\varepsilon^*$, $tan{\delta}$)를 이용하여 고찰하였다.

A Study on the Luminescent Characteristics of YPO4:Pr3+ Phosphor by the Content Ratio of Pr6O11 and Calcination Temperature (Pr6O11의 함량 및 열처리 조건에 따른 YPO4:Pr3+ 형광체의 발광 특성 연구)

  • In this study, the praseodymium-doped yttrium phosphate (YPO4:Pr3+) powder, which is well known for its high luminescent efficiency, and long life in the UV range, was synthesized with various content ratios of Pr6O11 and calcination temperature. Crystal structure and luminescent properties of various phosphor powders based on different concentrations and calcination conditions were characterized by XRD (X-Ray Diffraction) and PL (photoluminescence) spectrometers. From the XRD analysis, the structure of YPO4:Pr3+ which is calcinated at 1,200℃ was stable tetragonal phase and crystal size was calculated about 25 nm by Scherrer equation. PL emission of YPO4:Pr3+ with a different content ratio of Pr6O11 by excitation λexc=250 nm shows that 0.75 mol% phosphor powder has maximum PL intensity and PL decreases with the increase of the ratio of Pr6O11 up to 1.25 mol% which is caused by changes of crystallinity of phosphor powders. With increasing dopant ratio, photo-luminescence Emission decreases due to Concentration quenching, which is commonly observed in phosphors. Currently, 0.75 mol% is considered the optimal doping concentration. A hybrid ultraviolet-emitting device incorporating YPO4:Pr3+ fluorescent material with plasma discharge was fabricated to enhance UV germicidal effects while minimizing ozone generation. UV emission from the plasma discharge device was shown at about 200 nm and 350 nm which caused additional emission of the regions of 250 nm, 315 nm, and 370 nm from the YPO4:Pr3+ phosphor.

  • The microstructure and electrical properties of Pr$_{6}$/O sub 11/-Based ZnO varistors with Nd$_2$O$_3$ was doped in the range of 0.0 to 2.0 mol% were investigated. Most of the added Nd$_2$O$_3$were segregated at the nodal points and grain boundaries and were found to form the Nd-rich phase. In addition the bulk intergranular layer at the grain boundaries and nodal points was consisted of Nd-rich phase and Pr-rich phase. the average grain size was decreased in the range of 7.8 to 5.6${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ with increasing Nd$_{2}$/O sub 3/ additive content. The nonlinearity of ZnO varistors sintered at 130$0^{\circ}C$ was much more excellent than that at 135$0^{\circ}C$ ZnO varistors doped with 1.0mol% Nd$_{2}$/O sub 3/ exhibited the best nonlinearity. which is 65.2 in the nonlinear exponent and 4.5$\mu$A in the leakage current. Consequently. it is estimated that Pr$_{6}$/O sub 11/ -based ZnO varistors doped with 1.0 mol% Nd$_{2}$/O sub 3/ are to be sufficiently used as basic composition to fabricate good varistors in the future.ure.

  • The nonohmic characteristics of ZnO-$Pr_6O_{11}$-CoO-based ceramic varistor doped with $Dy_2O_3$ in the range $0.0\sim2.0mol%$ sintered at $1300^{\circ}C$ and $1350^{\circ}C$ were investigated. 98.5 ZnO-$0.5Pr_6O_{11}$-1.0CoO varistor sintered at $130^{\circ}C$ exhibited higher nonlinear coefficient of 36 than the established Pr-based varistor. The four-component-system varistor such as 96.5 ZnO-$0.5Pr_6O_{11}$-1.0CoO-$2.0Dy_2O_3$ exhibited very highly nonohmic characteristics, which has nonlinear coefficient of 53.9. 98.5ZnO-$0.5Pr_6O_{11}$-1.0CoO varistor sintered at $1350^{\circ}C$, in contrast with that of $1300^{\circ}C$, exhibited approximately ohmic characteristics but nonlinear coefficient of varistor doped with 0.5mol% $Dy_2O_3$ showed higher nonlinear coefficient of probably 35. Consequently, it can be confirmed that $Dy_2O_3$ acted as additive of improvement on nonlinear coefficient. It is estimated that $Dy_2O_3$ will be used as additive of improvement on nonlinear coefficient to develop a goof ZnO varistor.

  • The electrical properties of Pr$_{6}$O$_{11}$-based ZnO varistors composed of ZnO-Pr$_{6}$O$_{11}$-CoO-Cr$_2$O$_3$-Dy$_2$O$_3$- based ceramics were investigated with CoO content in the range of 0.5~5.0 mol%. As CoO content is increased, the average grain size and the density were increased in the range of 9.86~27.22 $\mu$m and in the range of 5.25-5.55 g/cm$^3$, respectively. The varistor voltage was decreased in the range of 235.32~86.01 V/mm due to the increase of average grain size with CoO content. The varistors doped with CoO in the rage of 1.0~2.0 mol% exhibited a high nonlinearity, in which is above 55 in the nonlinear exponent and below 1.5 $\mu$A in the leakage current. Increasing CoO content further greatly decreased the nonlinearity.ity.ity.
