  • In this study the problems of cell marking method used in the field of ATM network traffic control are presented. Also an extended cell marking method considering the user level priority is proposed. The conventional traffic monitoring schemes set the CLP bit of a cell to 1 only under the circumstance of the violation of traffic contract. It causes that the number of low level cells increases and the levels of cells are lowered regardless of the user level priority. The three level priority control method combining FCI bit with CLP bit has also been proposed. It divides CLP=0 cells into two levels. Consequently, the proposed method preserves more cells in high level than the conventional one and the real loss of high level cells can be reduced. The performance of the proposed scheme has also been analyzed by the PBS(partial buffer sharing) with two thresholds for the proposed three levels. The result shows that the PBS with two thresholds can give more efficient control than the scheme with no priority, or the PBS with one threshold.

  • The long-term stability of PSCs against visual and UV light, moisture, electrical bias and high temperature is an important issue for commercialization. In particular, since the operation temperature of solar cell can rise above 85℃, a study on thermal stability is required. In this study, the cause of thermal-induced degradation of PSCs was investigated using the SCAPS-1D simulation tool. First, PSCs of TiO2/CH3NH3PbI3/Spiro-OMeTAD/Au structure were exposed to a constant temperature of 85℃ to observe changes in conversion efficiency and quantum efficiency. Because the EQE reduction above 500 nm was remarkable, we simulated PSCs performance as a function of lifetime, doping density of perovskite and spiro-OMeTAD. Consequently, the main cause of thermal-induced degradation is considered to be the change in the perovskite doping concentration and lifetime due to ion migration of perovskite.

  • We investigated the changes in chemical properties of paddy field soils at 300 different sampling sites containing 4 topography in Jeonbuk province, Korea. The soil samples were collected 43.0% from local valley and fans, 39.3% from fluvio-marine deposits, 15.0% from alluvial plains, and 2.7% from diluvium sites. The optimal values of soil properties in the total soil samples were as follows: 65.3% of total samples in soil pH value, 48.3% of total samples in cation exchange capacity (CEC) value, and 22.3% of total samples in available phosphorus content, whereas the deficient values of soil properties were 63.3% of total samples in soil organic matter (SOM) content, 75.7% of total samples in available silicate content, and 61.3%, 51.0%, and 59.3% of total samples in exchangeable $K^+$, $Ca^{2+}$, and $Mg^{2+}$ concentrations, respectively. There were different soil types in the paddy fields: that is, 34.4% immature paddy and 33.6% sandy paddy in the local valley and fans, 57.8% sandy paddy in the alluvial plains, 47.4% normal paddy in the fluvio-marine deposits, and 75.7% immature paddy in the diluvium. Soil textures were also different: 53.5% loam in the local valley and fans, 37.8% sandy loam in the alluvial plains, and 55.1% silty loam in the fluvio-marine deposits. Soil pH and SOM contents were not different among the different topographical sampling sites. However, the mean value of available phosphorus content, 224 mg $kg^{-1}$, was exceeded optimal values in the diluvium. The contents of exchangeable cations were optimal in all the sites, except exchangeable $Ca^{2+}$ contents in the local valley and fans. The contents of available silicate ranged between 112 and 127 mg $kg^{-1}$ in all the sites, which were lower than optimal value. In addition, soil pH values were proportionally correlated to the order of available silicate, exchangeable $Ca^{2+}$, $Mg^{2+}$, $Na^+$, CEC, and exchangeable $K^+$. The contents of SOM were proportionally correlated to the order of CEC, available $P_2O_5$, exchangeable $Ca^{2+}$, and available silicate. The contents of heavy metals, Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, and Zn, were only 10% of the threshold levels of the metals, and As content was about 20 to 30% of the threshold level.

  • The Jija Chongtong Gun, owned by Seokdang Museum of Dong-A University, is a tubedstyle heavy weapon of the battlefield in the mid-Joseon Dynasty and is the second largest firearm after Cheonja Chongtong. The original surface color of the Jija Chongtong Gun was obscured by foreign substances and therefore it was judged that its condition requires the conservation treatment. For stable conservation treatment, gamma ray and X-ray non-destructive transmission surveys was conducted to determine the internal structure and conservation condition. And the component analysis on the material components and surface contaminants of Jija Chongtong Gun was conducted by utilizing the p-XRF component analysis, SEM-EDS component analysis, and XRD analysis. As a result of the gamma-ray and X-ray non-destructive transmission investigation, a large amount of air bubbles was observed inside Jija Chongtong Gun, and the part that appeared to be a chaplet by visual observation was not identified. As a result of gamma-ray and p-XRF component analysis, it was confirmed that Jija Chongtong Gun was bronze made of copper (Cu), tin (Sn), and lead (Pb) alloy. As a result of surface analysis of foreign substances using SEM-EDS, it was confirmed that the main components of white foreign substances were calcium (Ca), sulfur (S), and titanium (Ti). Titanium was presumed to be titanium dioxide (TiO2), the main component of white correction fluid. The red foreign substance was confirmed to contain barium (Ba) as its main ingredient, and was presumed to be barium sulfate (BaSO4), an extender pigment in paint. White and red contaminants, mainly composed of titanium and barium, are presumed to have been deposited on the surface in recent years. The yellow foreign substances were confirmed to be aluminum (Al) and silicon (Si), and were presumed to have originated from soil components. As a result of SEM-EDS and XRD component analysis, the white foreign substance was confirmed to be gypsum (CaS). Based on the results of component analysis, surface impurities were removed, stabilization treatment, and strengthening treatment were performed. During the conservation process, unknown inscriptions Woo (右), Byeong (兵), Sang (上), and Yi (二) were discovered through a portable microscope and precise 3D scanning. In addition, the carving method, depth, and width of the inscription were measured. Woo Byeong Sang is located above Happo Fortress in Changwon, and Yi can be identified as the second hill.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory actions of genistein in BALB/c mice injected with lopopolysaccharide (LPS), called endotoxin. Mice (10 weeks of age) weighing approximately 20 g were divided into 4 groups. Endotoxin shock was induced by intraperitoneal injection of LPS (100 mg/kg BW). LPS and genistein+LPS groups were injected with LPS 30 min after phosphate buffered saline (PBS) solution and genistein (200 mg/kg BW) injections, respectively. Genistein group was injected with genistein, followed by PBS, while PBS group received two injections of PBS. Superoxide anion generation of peritoneal macrophage cells was significantly (p<0.05) lower in the genistein+LPS group than in the LPS injection group at 8 h after intraperitoneal injection, while SOD activity was significantly higher in genistien+LPS group than LPS group. Tumor necrosis factor-$\alpha$ levels of plasma were significant lower (p<0.05) in the genistein+LPS injection group than LPS group at 8 h after intraperitoneal injection. Plasma TBARS was lower in genistein+LPS group than LPS group, while hepatic TBARS were not different among groups. Hepatic glutathione concentrations and antioxidant enzyme activities were ignificantly higher in the genistein+LPS group than in the LPS group at 1 h and 8 h after intraperitoneal injection. Nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-${\kappa}B$) transactivation was significantly (p<0.05) inhibited in LPS group. These results demonstrate genistein may ameliorate inflammatory diseases through inhibition of NF-${\kappa}B$ transactivation and oxidative stress, which may be mediated partially by anti-oxidative effect of genistein.

  • In this study, the substitution fumigation gases (15% Ethylene Oxide + 85% HFC 134a, 20% Ethylene Oxide + 80% $CO_2$, 99% Sulfuryl Fluoride + 1% Inert Gas) were applied on the metal, pigment, fabric and paper specimen. The result of the fumigation treatment with 15% Ethylene Oxide + 85% HFC 134a (200g/$m^3$, 48hours) is the color changes (${\Delta}E$) of 1st and 2nd Cu specimens showed significant difference as 3.40, 4.17. On the other hand, other specimens except for Cu showed less than 3.0 in chrominance values. The result with 20% Ethylene Oxide + 80% $CO_2$ (150g/$m^3$, 48hours) is that the color changes (${\Delta}E$) of 1st and 2nd specimens were overall less than 3.0 so that color differences were subtle and hardly recognized with naked eyes. So it is proved that the fumigation treatment with Ethylene Oxide 20% + $CO_2$ 80% is relatively stable on materials in this study. In the case of 99% Sulfuryl Fluoride + 1% Inert Gas (50g/$m^3$, 48hours), the color difference of Lead red ($PbO_4$) of pigment was more than 3.0 that was compared with contrast specimens. But chrominance values in the other specimens were less than 3.0 on average.

  • The accelerated thermal aging of a CSPE were carried out for 0, 80.82, 161.63 days at $100^{\circ}C$, which are equal to 0, 40 and 80 years of aging at $50^{\circ}C$, respectively. The volume electrical resistivities of the seawater and freshwater flooding were measured through 3-terminal circuit diagram. The volume electrical resistivities of the 0y, 40y and 80y were $2.454{\times}10^{13}{\sim}1.377{\times}10^{14}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$, $1.121{\times}10^{13}{\sim}7.529{\times}10^{13}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ and $1.284{\times}10^{13}{\sim}8.974{\times}10^{13}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ at room temperature, respectively. The dielectric constant of the 0y, 40y and 80y were 2.922~3.431, 2.613~3.285 and 2.921~3.332 at room temperature, respectively. It is certain that the ionic ($Na^+$, $Cl^-$, $Mg^{2+}$, ${SO_4}^{2-}$, $Ca^{2+}$, $K^+$) conduction current was formed by the salinity of the seawater. The volume electrical resistivity of the cleaned CSPE via freshwater trends slightly upward with the number of dried days at room temperature. As a result, the $CH_2$ component of thermally accelerated aged CSPE decreased after seawater and freshwater flooding for 5 days respectively, whereas the atoms such as Cl, O, Pb, Al, Si, Sb, S related with the conducting ion ($Na^+$, $Cl^-$, $Mg^{2+}$, ${SO_4}^{2-}$, $Ca^{2+}$, $K^+$) component increased relatively.

  • Anticarcinogenic activity of astaxanthin-containing egg yolks (designate AEY) was investigated for benzo[a]pyrene (BP)-induced mouse forestomach tumorigenesis initiating regimen. Female ICR mouse (6-7 weeks of age) were housed in polycarbonated cages (5 mice/cage; 20 mice/treatment) in a humidity-and-temperature-controlled facility and permitted free access to water and food. One week later, four and 2 days prior to p.o. treatment with BP (2 mg/0.2 ml corn oil), mice were given 0.2 ml PBS containing 50 mg AEY, 100 mg AEY, 150 mg AEY, or 150 mg CEY. Control mice were only given 0.2 ml PBS. Three days later this sequence was repeated for a total of 4 times. Beginning with the first intubation and continuing thereafter, body weight and food intake were recorded once weekly. All surviving mice were sacrificed 24 weeks after the first dose of BP. Mice treated with AEY developed only about one third as many neoplasms/animal as mice in control or CEY-treated group (p<0.05). Reduction effect of tumor development by AEY was dependent upon doses applied. Tumor incidence was also reduced by AEY treatments, but significantly reduced only by 150 mg AEY treatment when compared to that by control or CEY. Food intake and body weight were not affected by AEY treatment. These results indicate that AEY inhibits tumorigenesis of mouse forestomach induced by BP.

  • Anabaena variabilis A TCC 29413. a photoautotrophic and nitrogen fixing cyanobacteria. was investigated on the environmental factors regulating the growth and nitrogen lixation activity. A good growth of cyanobacteria] cells was observed due to nitrogen t1xation by the heterocyst differentiation in nitrogen free Allen and Arnon (]/8) medium. The nitrogenase activity was appeared to be in proportion to the cell growth lor 6 days then drastically decreased in the later growth period when the nitraTe was accumulated to high level in the culture to cause the inhibition. The optima] conditions lilr the cell growth and nitrogenase activity of A. varillbili.l were anaerobic. IO.OO0 lux. $30^{\circ}C$ and pH 8 with the nitrogen Cree minimal medium. The activity was significantly inhihited by the low concentrations of ammonium and nitrate. but was stimulated b) the ]ow Ieve] of phosphate and carbonate sources. The treatments of several toxic heavy metals showed strong inhibition of the cell growth and nitrogenase activity by O.3~10 ppm in the order of $Hg^{2+}$ > $Cd^{2+}$ > $Co^{2+}$ > $Zn^{2+}$ > $Ph^{2+}$, and the concentrations for 50% inhibition of the maximum activity were 0.41. 0.47. 0.5 L 0.66 and 8.1 ppm. respectively. The addition of carbohydrates (0.5~ 1.0%) in the dark condition stimulated the growth and activity in the order of sucrose > fructose > glucose.

  • The studies for the derivatization of 3-monochloropropane-1,2-diol (3-MCPD) were performed mainly as acylation with HFBI (heptafluorobutyrylimidazole), alkylation with PBA (phenylboric acid) and silylation with BSTFA (N,O-bis[trimethylsilyl]trifluoroacetamide). Also silylation with MTBSTFA(N-methyl-N-[tert.-butyldimethylsilyl] trifluoroacetamide) and acylation with MBTFA (N-Methyl-bis[trifluoro-acetamide]) were also considered. Except the TBDMS derivative of 3-MCPD, all the derivatives were detected well. The derivatives of 3-MCPD with HFBI, PBA and BSTFA showed below 10 ${\mu}g/kg$ which was sensitive enough to satisfy Korea maximum residue limit 0.3 mg/kg. Among the tested adsorbents, Extrelut20 and Florisil were evaluated as the proper adsorbents to eliminate the soy sauce matrix for 3-MCPD. Ethyl acetate was the most efficient eluent with good recovery rate. The desired surrogate compound and internal standard were 1,2-butanediol and 1,2-dibromo-3-chloropropane, respectively. The limit of detection for PB-MCPD and TMS-MCPD were 10.16 and 7.06 ${\mu}g/kg$ on GC/MSD, respectively. HFB-MCPD derivative showed the lowest detection limits 2.98 and 5.32 ${\mu}g/kg$ by GC/ECD and GC/MSD, respectively.
