The syudy of reaction kinetics in the thermophilic aerobic digestion process of piggery wastewater (축산폐수의 고온호기성 소화공정에서의 반응동력학 연구)

  • The piggery wastewater is the major source of the water pollution problem in the rural area. The treatment alternatives for piggery wastewater are limited by the characteristics of both high organic and nitrogen(N) content. In order to investigate an efficient N removal system, the thermophilic aerobic digestion process was examined. The experiment was investigated organic and nitrogen removal efficiency at various HRTs and air supply volume. The results of semi-continuous experiment indicated that a higher removal of the soluble portion of COD was achieved with the longer HRTs. However, the inert portion of COD in piggery wastewater was not much changed by thermophilic aerobic digestion. In addition, with the higher HRT of 3 days, up to 79% of NH4-N removal efficiency was achieved. Lower the HRTs, a decrease of NH4-N removal was founds. The gas samples from the lab reactor were analyzed along with the N content in influent and effluent. The N2O formation in our system indicates a novel aerobic deammonification process occurred during the thermophilic aerobic digestion. Both N02 and N03 were not presented in the effluent of thermophilic aerobic digester. With the HRT of 3 days, 36.4% of influent N(or 57.5% removal N) was aerobically converted to N2O gas. The ammonium conversion to N2O gas significantly decrease to 4.5% at low HRT of .05 day..

  • Plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition of $TiO_{2$\pm}{\delta}$ has been carried out using TEMAT [tetrakis(ethylmethylamido) titanium] and $H_2$. Increasing the power from 300 W to 500 W produced the high density plasma, leading to the formation of TiO$_2$films with an increased ratio of Ti to O and a negligible amount of C and N. Applying the bias of 30W to the substrate in creased the growth rate of the film with a slightly increased content of Ti in the film. In addition, $H_2O$ was from either the residual gas in the gase pressure or $H_2(/He)$ gas and actively participated in the formation of $TiO_2$ films. Consequently, Ti ions created in the plasma could be a main contributor to $TiO_2$ formation with a slight amount of $H_2O(~10^{-4}Toor)$ in the ambient, which provided the dissociation of TEMAT.

  • Solvolyses of p-substituted benzyl bromides have been studied in dimethylsulfoxide-water and N,N-dimethylformamide-water mixtures by kinetic method. To determine the ionizing power, Y and the nucleophilicity, $N_{BS}$, the solvolyses of 1-adamantyl halides, t-butyl halides, and methyl tosylate in the same solvent mixtures have been investigated. The solvatochromic parameters for each dimethylsulfoxide-water mixtures have been determined by substituting into the Taft's linear solvatochromic energy relationships with measured $ν_{max}$. The solvolyses of p-substituted benzyl bromides have been found to proceed by borderline mechanism in which bond formation is more advanced than bond cleavage in the transition state based on the m, l values and ${\beta},{\rho}_s$, values.

Synthesis of N-doped Titania using Ammonium Hydroxide and Photocatalytic Degradation of Humic Acid (암모니아수를 이용한 N-doped TiO2 제조 및 부식산의 광촉매 분해)

  • To advance luminance efficiency of Titania at visible range, N-doped $TiO_2$ was prepared by using ammonium hydroxide as a source of nitrogen. The photoactivities of the synthesized $TiO_2$ were evaluated on the basis of degradation of humic acid in aqueous solutions with different light sources, UV-C, UV-A and fluorescent lamp. As a result, at UV-C is high efficiency $UV_{254}$ decrease and TOC removal. In this study, the best synthetic conditions of N-doped $TiO_2$ were 5.0 M of ammonium hydroxide concentration and calcination temperature of $550^{\circ}C$. The degradation rate of humic acid as an evaluation of photoactivities of the catalysts were conducted with pH variation, decrease rate of molecular absorption, removal rate of total organic carbon and fluorescece evolution for humic acid solution. XRD and SEM were applied for analysis of surface analysis of the catalysts.

  • The aim of this study was to analyze physiological changes, clinical and subjective symptoms by different $N_2O$ concentrations and administration method. This study surveyed 65 men and women ages 19 to 35 and all subjects were healthy volunteers, with no contraindication for use of $N_2O$ sedation. The $N_2O$ sedation was carried out in a way that increases by 10 percent to one-minute interval or increases at once the desired level. Each method was required to reach 30 or 50 percent $N_2O$ concentration. The way to gradually raise the $N_2O$ concentration can reduce the risk by decreasing the pulse reduction rate at the same $N_2O$ concentration. $SpO_2$ has no statistical significance according to $N_2O$ concentration and method of administration. Pulse rate reduced significantly when 50% $N_2O$ increase at once during sedation and 100% $O_2$ after 5 minutes. The way to gradually raise the $N_2O$ concentration is safe for reducing pulse rate.

  • Nitrogen doped $TiO_2$ photocatalysts were prepared by ammonia for exploring the visible light photocatalytic activity. To explore the visible light photocatalytic activity of the nitrogen doped $TiO_2$ photocatalyst, the removal of methylene blue dye was investigated under the sunlight. SEM images showed that the flocculated particle sizes of N-doped $TiO_2$ decreased due to the reaction with ammonia. XRD patterns demonstrated that the samples calcined at temperatures up to $600^{\circ}C$ and doped with nitrogen using ammonia clearly showed rutile as well as anatase peaks. The XPS results showed that the nitrogen composition onto $TiO_2$ increased according to the reaction time with ammonia. Photocatalytic activity of the nitrogen doped $TiO_2$ was better than that of undoped $TiO_2$. Nitrogen doping onto the $TiO_2$ also affected the crystal type of $TiO_2$ photocatalyst.

  • The kinetics of the hydrolysis of N-benzylidenebenzenesulfonamide derivatives have been investigated by ultraviolet spectrophotometry in $H_2O$ at $25^{\circ}C$. A rate equation which can be applied over a wide pH range was obtained. The substituent effect on the hydrolysis of N-benzylidenebenzenesulfonamide derivatives were studied and rate of hydrolysis is known to be accelerated by electron withdrowing group. Final product of the hydrolysis was benzenesulfonamide and benzaldehyde. Base on the rate equation, substituent effect, general base effect and final products, hydrolysis of N-benzylidenebenzenesulfonamide derivatives seemed to be initiated by the hydronium ion at the pH 0.2${\sim}$2.5 and proceeded by the neutral $H_2O$ molecule at pH 3.0${\sim}$8.0 but proceeded by the hydroxide ion at above pH 8.5.

  • In this study, $TiO_2$ nanotube plate and metal electrodes(Copper, Nickel, Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Tin, Titanium) were compared on cathodic reduction of nitrate ($NO_3{^-}-N$) during electrolysis. The electrochemical characteristics were compared based on electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The surface morphology was obtained using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) method. Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) method was implemented for the specific surface area analysis of the cathodes. To study kinetics, 90 minute batch electrolysis of nitrate solution was performed for each cathodes. In conclusion, under the condition of relatively low ($0.04 A\;cm^{-2}$) current density, $TiO_2$ nanotube plate showed no surface corrosion during the electrolysis, and the reaction rate was measured the highest in the kinetic analysis.

  • SnO2/n-Si and ITO/n-Si SIS solar cells have been fabricated ty mears of electron-beam deposition. The optimum oxidation and heat-treatment condition for SnO2/n-Si cells and ITO/n-Si cells are 50$0^{\circ}C$-5min., 30$0^{\circ}C$-10min., and 50$0^{\circ}C$-5min., 30$0^{\circ}C$-20min. respectively. The open-circuit Voltage(Voc), short-circuit current density(Jsc), fill factor(FF), and efficiency (η) under AMI(100mW/$\textrm{cm}^2$) illumination were 0.4V, 34mA/$\textrm{cm}^2$, 0.44, and 6.0%(active area efficiency, 6.9%) for SnO2/n-Si solar cells, and 0.44V, 36mA/$\textrm{cm}^2$, 0.53, and 8.45%(active area efficiency, 9.71%) for ITO/n-Si solar calls.
