소나무 수피를 포함한 원예작물 재배용 혼합상토의 개발 (Development of Root Media Containing Pine Bark for Cultivation of Horticultural Crops)

  • 국내에서 유통되고 있는 각종 분쇄부숙수피(GAPB)와 분쇄수피(GRPB)를 포함한 혼합상토를 개발하기 위해 본 연구를 수행하였다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 두 종류 수피의 물리 화학성을 분석한 후 피트모쓰(PM) 또는 코이어 더스트(CD)와 다양한 비율로 혼합하였다. 혼합물 중 물리성이 적합하다고 판단한 두 종류 상토의 pH 및 EC를 측정한 후 기비를 혼합하고 다시 화학성을 분석하였다. GAPB는 공극률 78.7%, 용기용수량 39.4%, 기상률 38.3%, 가비중 $0.15g{\cdot}cm^{-3}$, GRPB는 공극률 74.7%, 용기용수량 41.2%, 기상률 33.4%, 가비중 $0.19g{\cdot}cm^{-3}$로 측정되었다. 쉽게 이용할 수 있는 수분(EAW)과 완충수(BW)의 비율은 GAPB는 12.7% 및 8.5%, GRPB는 13.5% 및 8.8%로 각각 분석되었다. 화학적 특성에서 GAPB는 pH 5.26, EC $0.61dS{\cdot}m^{-1}$, 양이온교환용량(CEC) $0.32cmol{\cdot}kg^{-1}$, GRPB는 pH 5.19, EC $0.32dS{\cdot}m^{-1}$, CEC $9.32cmol{\cdot}kg^{-1}$로 분석되었다. 치환성양이온 함량을 분석한 결과 GAPB는 Ca 0.32, K 0.05, Mg 0.27 및 Na $0.12cmol{\cdot}kg^{-1}$, GRPB는 Ca 0.28, K 0.08, Mg 0.25 및 Na $0.09cmol{\cdot}kg^{-1}$로 분석되었다. 질소 및 인산함량은 GAPB는 $PO4$-P 485.8, $NO_3$-N 0.91, $NH_4$-N $0.62mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$, GRPB는 $PO_4$-P 578, $NO_3$-N 0.82, $NH_4$-N $1.00mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$로 분석되었다. PM + GAPB(8:2, v/v) 혼합상토의 공극률, 용기용수량, 기상률은 각각 89.3, 76.3 및 13.0%였지만 CD + GRPB(8:2)는 각각 88.2, 68.2 및 20.0%로 측정되었다. 혼합 후 측정한 pH와 EC는 PM + GAPB는 3.8 및 $0.24dS{\cdot}m^{-1}$로 CD + GRPB 혼합상토의 5.8 및 $0.65dS{\cdot}m^{-1}$보다 낮았다. 그러나 두 종류 상토에 기비를 혼합한 후 측정한 pH는 기비 혼합 전과 큰 차이를 보이지 않았는데, 이는 pH를 상승시키기 위해 혼합된 고토석회의 용해도가 낮은 것이 주요 원인이라고 판단하였다. 이상의 연구를 통해 도출된 결과는 추후 각종 수피를 이용한 혼합상토 개발에 유효하게 활용될 것이라고 생각한다.

만성 소화불량증 환자에서 설 색상과 심박변이도의 경향성 파악 (Trends in Tongue Color and Heart Rate Variability in Chronic Dyspepsia Patients)

  • Objectives From observing the tongue of a patient, one can assess the health status; this method has been frequently used in traditional Korean Medicine (KM) clinics. In particular, KM posits that the color of the tongue is highly related to digestive functions. In this study, the color of tongue and heart rate variability (HRV) were compared between chronic dyspepsia (CD) patients and healthy subjects. Methods Healthy subjects and CD patients with functional dyspepsia (FD), gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), or chronic gastritis (CG) were enrolled for the study. Profile view images of the tongue were acquired by using a computerized tongue image acquisition system (CTIS). The color of the tongue body was extracted from the non-coated region on the tongue images. Results Color differences in CIE L*a*b* color space between the three sub-types of CD patients and healthy subjects were analyzed by using multiple linear regression analysis with age and sex as the factors. The variable b* was significantly lower in GERD patients than in the controls (p=0.017). Variable a* was significantly lower in CG than in the controls (p=0.03). No significant difference was seen between FD and controls. In GERD, the tongue body seems to be intense red in color; in CG, pale red. Frequency domain analysis showed that HF was significantly lower in GERD patients than in the controls (p=0.041). Conclusions The color of the tongue body and HF of HRV can be used for diagnosing digestive functions in health care.

Effect of GnRH Immunization on Testicular Function in Colts

  • Ten Australian Stock Horses colts (five yearling and five 3-year old colts) of which 2 yearlings and 2 three year old colts served as control animals while 3 yearlings and 3 three year old colts received two GnRH immunizations within 4 weeks interval were used in this study. By the 5th to 6th week after immunization, the GnRH antibody titres in the plasma rose above 1:1000 and attained peak levels of 1:6500 by the 8th week and gradually declined to about 1:3000 by the 10th week in both the age groups. The testosterone and androstenedione concentrations of the control colts in both age groups were significantly greater (p<0.05) than that of the vaccinated groups. During the immunosuppression period, the vaccinated colts behaved like geldings. Semen could not be collected from 2 of the 3 three-year old vaccinated colts. The testicular dimensions, testicular weight, parenchymal weight, seminiferous tubule volumes, interstitial space volumes, Leydig cell volume, seminiferous tubule % of the control colts were significantly greater than those of the vaccinated colts in both the age groups. The 3-year old control colts had a significantly (p<0.05) greater % of Leydig cells than the control and vaccinated 1-year old colts. There was arrest of spermatogenesis with complete absence of sperm in the testes of the vaccinated colts while there was various stages of spermatogenesis in those of the control colts. Morphometric analysis demonstrated that the 3-year old colts had significantly (p<0.05) greater DSP/gm of testis and DSP/testis than those of the 1-year old control colts. This study elucidated that the GnRH immunization could suppress the testicular function of the 3-year old and yearling colts.

Does Second-Generation Suspensory Implant Negate Tunnel Widening of First-Generation Implant Following Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction?

  • Purpose: Tunnel widening following anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction is commonly observed. Graft micromotion is an important contributing factor. Unlike fixed-loop devices that require a turning space, adjustable-loop devices fit the graft snugly in the tunnel. The purpose of this study is to compare tunnel widening between these devices. Our hypothesis is that the adjustable-loop device will create lesser tunnel widening. Materials and Methods: Ninety-eight patients underwent ACL reconstruction from January 2013 to December 2014. An adjustable-loop device was used in 54 patients (group 1) and a fixed-loop device was used in 44 patients (group 2). Maximum tunnel widening at 1 year was measured by the L'Insalata's method. Functional outcome was measured at 2-year follow-up. Results: The mean widening was 4.37 mm (standard deviation [SD], 2.01) in group 1 and 4.09 mm (SD, 1.98) in group 2 (p=0.511). The average International Knee Documentation Committee score was 78.40 (SD, 9.99) in group 1 and 77.11 (SD, 12.31) in group 2 (p=0.563). The average Tegner-Lysholm score was 87.25 (SD, 3.97) in group 1 and 87.29 in group 2 (SD, 4.36) (p=0.987). There was no significant difference in tunnel widening and functional outcome between the groups. Conclusions: The adjustable-loop device did not decrease the amount of tunnel widening when compared to the fixed-loop device. There was no significant difference in outcome between the two fixation devices. Level of Evidence: Level 3, Retrospective Cohort.

A novel method of objectively detecting tooth ankylosis using cone-beam computed tomography: A laboratory study

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to objectively detect simulated tooth ankylosis using a novel method involving cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Materials and Methods: Tooth ankylosis was simulated in single-rooted human permanent teeth, and CBCT scans were acquired at different current levels (5, 6.3, and 8 mA) and voxel sizes (0.08, 0.125, and 0.2). In axial reconstructions, a line of interest was perpendicularly placed over the periodontal ligament space of 21 ankylosed and 21 non-ankylosed regions, and the CBCT grey values of all voxels along the line of interest were plotted against their corresponding X-coordinates through a line graph to generate a profile. The image contrast was increased by 30% and 60% and the profile assessment was repeated. The internal area of the resulting parabolas was obtained from all images and compared between ankylosed and non-ankylosed regions under different contrast enhancement conditions, voxel sizes, and mA levels using multi-way analysis of variance with the Tukey post hoc test(α=0.05). Results: The internal area of the parabolas of all non-ankylosed regions was significantly higher than that of the ankylosed regions(P<0.05). Contrast enhancement led to a significantly greater internal area of the parabolas of non-ankylosed regions (P<0.05). Overall, voxel size and mA did not significantly influence the internal area of the parabolas(P>0.05). Conclusion: The proposed novel method revealed a relevant degree of applicability in the detection of simulated tooth ankylosis; increased image contrast led to greater detectability.

Bacillus종의 생광물화에 미치는 영향 인자의 비교 평가 (Comparative Assessment on Indicating Factor for Biomineralization by Bacillus Species)

  • 본 연구에서는 생광물화에 미치는 주요한 영향 인자의 파악 및 광물별 생광물화 특성을 알아보기 위하여 $CaCl_2$, $MgCl_2$, $CaCl_2-MgCl_2$ 수용액을 이용하여 bottle test를 진행하였으며, 대상 미생물은 생광물화 관련 미생물 중 Bacillus pasteurii와 S 매립지 복토재 내 토착 미생물을 이용하였다. 광물 종류별 실험을 진행한 결과, $CaCl_2$, $MgCl_2$, $CaCl_2-MgCl_2$에 대해 각각 85, 88, 42 mg/L의 암모늄($NH_4{^+}$)이온이 생성되었고 이산화탄소 가스가 각각 12, 12, 24시간 후에 검출되지 않았다. 수용액 내 $Ca^{2+}$$CaCl_2$의 경우 12시간 후 92% 감소하였고 $CaCl_2-MgCl_2$의 경우 36시간 후 85% 감소하였다. 반면에 $Mg^{2+}$$MgCl_2$의 경우 48시간 후 46% 감소하였고 $CaCl_2-MgCl_2$의 경우 72시간 후 38.5% 감소하였다. 이온 농도 또는 광물의 종류에 관계없이, pH의 경우 생광물화가 일어난 실험군에서만 pH 5.5에서 pH 9로 변하는 것을 볼 수 있었고 미생물 활성도($OD_{600}$) 또한 0에서 0.6으로 증가했다. 실험 종료 후, 주사전자현미경(SEM) 사진을 촬영한 결과, 회전 타원체 모양의 결정체와 사다리꼴 모양의 결정체가 형성된 것을 확인할 수 있었으며, 이는 X-선 회절분석으로 확인된 $CaCO_3$ (Calcite)와 $MgCO_3$ (Magnesite)이었다. 본 연구 결과 urea를 이용한 생광물화능을 판단할 수 있는 영향인자로서 효소의 활성도, $CO_2$ gas 농도변화, $OD_{600}$, pH, 용액 내 칼슘(또는 마그네슘) 이온농도가 적합함을 확인하였다.

교차편광 촬영술(Cross Polarization Photographic Technique)를 이용한 부항요법의 배수혈 피부 색소 침착 변화 측정 평가 (A New Method For Measuring Acupoint Pigmentation After Cupping Using Cross Polarization)

  • 목적 : 부항요법은 국소적 부위를 진공상태로 유지시키는 과정 중 유두층 안의 표피혈관을 파괴됨에 따라 발생하는 색소, 응결, 자반, 수포, 압통 반응 등을 살피어 오장육부의 기능이상을 진단하고 있다. 시각에 의존하는 주관적인 혈색소 판별로 인한 진단방법에서 벗어나 정량적으로 측정 및 분석이 가능하기 위하여 교차편광 촬영술을 접목하였으며, 새로운 혈색소 평가 가능성을 확인하고자 하였다. 방법 : 족태양방광경의 좌/우 폐수(BL13), 심수(BL15), 간수(BL18), 신수(BL23) 총 10개에 80 kPa 의 음압으로 1분 동안 자극하였다. 교차편광 촬영술을 이용하여 부항 자극 직전과 60분 이후까지 2분마다 이미지를 획득하였다. 획득한 이미지에서 $L^*a^*b^*$ space로 변환하여 분석하였으며, RGB space에서 홍반지수 (E.I: erythema index)를 계산하여 분석하였다. 또한 부항 자극 전 각 경혈에서 젖산 농도를 측정하여 색 지표들간의 관계성 분석을 통하여, 근육의 상태와 부항 자극으로 유도된 피부 색 변화와의 관계를 확인하고자 하였다. 결과 : 교차편광 촬영술을 이용하여 획득한 이미지에서의 $L^*$, $a^*$ 그리고 E.I 모두 부항 자극에 따른 피부 색 변화를 정량적으로 나타낼 수 있는 유의한 지표임을 확인하였다. 부항 자극 40분 후에 피부 색 변화가 더 이상 관찰되지 않았다. 또한 각 경혈에서의 젖산 농도와 피부 색 변화 정도와 유의한 차이가 없음을 확인하였다. 결론 : 설진을 포함하여 한의학적 색 진단을 하기 위한 방법으로 교차편광 촬영술 활용 가능성을 확인하였다. 또한 $L^*$, $a^*$ 그리고 E.I 모두 색 지표로서 유의성을 확인하였다. 향후, 장부 기능 이상과 혈색소 반응간의 상관성을 확보하기 위한 연구가 진행하기 전에, 음압 도중 발생하는 조직 내 다양한 반응과 혈색소 반응간의 관계를 확보하고자 하는 노력이 우선적으로 진행되어야 한다.

시분할 다중합 방식과 멀티 홉 구조를 적용한 새로운 광 공간 스위치의 성능 분석 (The Performance Analysis of a Novel Optical Space Switch Employing Multihop Structure and Time Division Multiplexing)

  • 본 논문에서는 스위칭 시스템의 대용량화를 위해 시분할 다중합 방식과 멀티 홉 구조를 적용한 새로운 형태의 모듈화된 광 공간 스위치를 제안하였다. 그리고 기존 광 공간 스위치와의 비교를 통해 전력 손실, 사용 소자의 수, 신호대 누화비 등의 성능이 더 우수함을 보였다. 또한, 그 구조에서의 모듈 수, M에 따른 포화 처리율을 해석한 결과, 한 모듈의 입력 포트 수(N)가 매우 클 때, M개의 모듈을 가진 스위칭 시스템의 포화 처리율은 M+l-√($M^2$+1)이 됨을 알 수 있었다. 마지막으로, 제안한 스위치에서의 셀 손실율 특성을 시뮬레이션을 통해 알아보았다. 예를 들어, $\rho$=0.9, M=8, N=32일 경우, $10^{-6}$ 이하의 셀 손실율을 얻기 위해서는 입력 버퍼의 저장 유닛의 수가 6개, 출력 버퍼의 저장 유닛의 수가 52개 이상이어야 함을 알 수 있었다.다.

Effect of Postmortem Phases on Lamb Meat Quality: A Physicochemical, Microstructural and Water Mobility Approach

  • To investigate the effect of postmortem phases on lamb meat quality, the physicochemical quality, microstructure and water mobility of oyster cut, short loin, knuckle and silverside muscles from Small-Tail Han sheep were evaluated in the pre-rigor, rigor mortis and post-rigor phases. Pre-rigor lamb meat had higher pH and water holding capacity (WHC), whereas lower CIE L*, b*, hue angle values than rigor mortis and post-rigor meat (p<0.05). The Warner-Bratzler shear force (WBSF) values were higher in rigor mortis short loin and silverside than their pre-rigor and post-rigor counterparts, pre-rigor short loin had lower WBSF value than its post-rigor counterpart (p<0.05). Muscle fibers shrank laterally and longitudinally during the onset of rigor mortis. Rigor mortis and postrigor lamb meat exhibited wide I-bands, dark A-bands, short sarcomeres and large inter-myofibrillar spaces. The shift of immobilized water to free water and repulsion from the intra-myofibrillar space to the extracellular space result in the increase of water loss in rigor mortis and post-rigor lamb meat. The results of the principal component analysis (PCA) indicated that rigor mortis and post-rigor lamb meat had similar quality properties but different from pre-rigor lamb meat. In conclusion, the lamb meat in the pre-rigor phase had good tenderness, color and WHC. The results of this research could provide some theoretical references for lamb meat production and processing.
