The first option in manure management is developing an environmentally sound nutritional management. This includes proper feeding programs and feeds which will result in less excreted nutrients that need to be managed. Critical components that should be controlled are N, P and minerals that are used at supranutritional levels. Amino acid supplementation and protein restriction reduce N excretion in the monogastric animals. Supplementation with enzymes, such as carbohydrases, phytase and proteases, can be used to reduce excretion of nutrients and feces by improving digestibility of specific nutrients. Growth promoting agents, such as antibiotics, beta-agonists and somatotropin, increase the ability of animals to utilize nutrients, especially dietary protein, which results in reduced excretion of N. Some microminerals, such as Cu and Zn, are supplemented at supranutritional level. Metal-amino acid chelates, metal-proteinates and metal-polysaccharide complexes can be used at a much lower level than inorganic forms of metals without compromising performance of animals. Deodorases can be used to avoid air pollution from animal manure. Nutritional management increases costs to implement. It is necessary to assess the economics in order to find an acceptable compromise between the increased costs and the benefits to the environment and production as well.
Author have already reported that urinary aldosterone excretion of the Korean who usually eat high sodium diet is significantly lower comparing with the American, although the plasma aldosterone concentration is identical in the former with that of the latter. Measurement of urinary aldosterone excretion and Plasma concentration only is insufficient to establish the pressence and/or mode of evolution of the Korean. In this experiments, aldosterone secretion rate(ASR) was measured in normotensive Korean during high and low dietary sodium intake with or without additional potassium supply. Results were as follows; 1) In normal Korean, dietary sodium restriction resulted in appreciable increase in ASR, and a sustained increase in urinary aldosterone excretion with an increase in plasma level. 2) Oral potassium loading easily stimulated the adrenal cortex of the Korean who already adapted to a high sodium diet when dietary sodium is still identical with not·mal American. 3) Quantitative relationships between aldosterone secretion rate, plasma concentration and urinary excretion of aldosterone were altered by potassium loading. 4) Urinary aldosterone excretion didn't reflect concurrent increase aldosterone secretion in subjects with Potassium intake. It was discussed that the changes of tile relationships and of adrenal hyper response on Potassium Beading in the Korean will be elucidated by measuring the metabolic clearance rate.
This study was intended to investigate the relationship of dietary Na and Ca intake and excretion in blood pressure regulation of free-living adults. Two separate surveys were conducted for 294 subjects in Taegu area, The results of this study are as follows ; When subjects were divided into normotensive and hypertensive, there were significant differences in age, BMI between two groups, When dietary intake were compared between two groups, no significant differences in energy, carbohydrates, fat and protein intakes were shown. While Na intake of hypertensive groups was not signidicantly different from that of normotensive groups, While Na intake of hypertensive groups was not significantly different from that of normotensive groups, ca intake of hypertensive group was significantly lower than that of normotensive group(P<0.005), Urinary Na excretion was significantly higher(P<0.05) in hyperten sive group. However, urinary Ca and K excretion in both groups were not significantly different. Urinary sodium was significantly correlated with urinary Ca and Na intake. Multiple regression analysis of variables showed that urinary sodiumwas affected by Na index, age and Ca Index. While urinary Ca, was significantly correlated with urinary Na and K excretion, it did not show significant correlation with Ca intake
This study was carried out to establish an optimum number of phase feeding regimen which enable to reduce nutrients excretion without affecting growth performance and to investigate the effects of different feeding regimens on growth performance, nutrients excretion and carcass characteristics in finishing pigs. A total of 120 finishing pigs (an average initial body weight of 54.3 kg) were assigned to the feeding trial and 12 pigs were assigned to the metabolic trial. Treatments included one phase (54 to 104 kg), two phase (54 to 80 and 80 to 104 kg), three phase (54 to 70, 70 to 90 and 90 to 104 kg) and four phase (54 to 65, 65 to 80, 80 to 95, 95 to 104 kg) feeding regimens. Experimental diets were formulated to contain 16% crude protein for one phase feeding regimen, 16% and 12% crude protein for two phase feeding regimen, 16%, 14% and 12% crude protein for three phase feeding regimen, and 16%, 14.7%, 13.4% and 12% crude protein for four phase feeding regimen, respectively. Although there were no significant differences in any criteria measured during the entire experimental period, pigs reared in three phase feeding regimen grew slightly faster than those reared in other feeding regimens and showed a tendency to increase ADFI during the whole experimental period. The metabolic trial indicated that there were no significant differences in DM (dry matter), CP (crude protein) and P (phosphorus) digestibilities. However, fecal nutrient excretion except P was significantly influenced by feeding regimens. DM excretion of one phase feeding group was significantly higher than that of three phase feeding group and daily fecal N (nitrogen) excretion of one phase feeding group was higher than that of other phase feeding groups (p<0.05). Three and four phase feeding regimens resulted in 12% lower fecal N and DM excretion than one phase feeding regimen. Blood urea concentrations were lower for pigs reared in two, three and four phase feeding regimens than for those reared in one phase feeding regimen (p<0.05). Three phase feeding regimen for the finishing period showed better carcass grade than one phase feeding regimen, though the difference was not significant. The tenth rib fat thickness of pigs fed on four phase feeding regimen was reduced most and there was a trend that backfat thickness decreased as the number of phases increased. Feed cost per kg weight gain was significantly low in four phase feeding group than one phase feeding group (p<0.05). In summary, it seemed that producers generally oversupply the expensive nutrients for the finishing pigs. High nutrient diets do not always guarantee high growth rate of pigs and cause more unwanted nutrient excretion. It rather seems that meeting nutrient requirements for the each growth phase is more important for the reduction of pollutants and economical pork production.
This study assessed the effects of daily isoflavone intake on urinary excretion of deoxypyridinoline(DPD), Ca and Zn excretion as an index of bone resorption rates in 162 postmenopausal osteoporotic women. There were 87 participants in the osteoporosis group and 75 in the control group. The average age in the osteoporosis group was 62.97 years and that of the control group was 63.67 years. There were no significant differences between the two groups in height, weight and body mass index. The osteoporosis group consumed significantly lower amounts of soy foods compared to the control group(p<0.00l). Daily isoflavone intake was significantly different between the osteoporosis group(29.19 mg) and the control group(48.56 mg). The average urinary excretion of deoxypyridinoline in the osteoporosis and control groups were 5.71 nmol/mmol Cr and 5.15 nmol/mmol Cr, respectively and these values were significantly different(p<0.05). In addition, the subjects in the osteoporosis group and control group exhibited significant difference in urinary excretion of Ca(200.16 mg/day, 177.05 mg/day respectively) and Zn(333.32 $\mu$g/day, 303.68 $\mu$g/day respectively) at the levels of p<0.0l and p<0.05, respectively. There were no significant differences between the two groups in mineral intake. Thus, daily isoflavone intakes may contribute to decreases in the rates of urinary excretion of deoxypyridinoline, Ca and Zn in postmenopausal subjects.
Although the livestock excretion is a significant resource in providing nutrients to the crops as it is recycled, it has been perceived as the cause of environmental pollutions for its inappropriate treatment and quality control issues. The study is aimed to develop an integrated management system for efficient management of livestock excretion using the Ubiquitous technology, and the user requirements are analyzed for development of such system. As the result of analysis on the requirements, it has been proved that such system is perceived to be necessary and the demand for several main functions can be seen as well.

This experiment was conducted to investigate effects of phase feeding and sugar beet pulp (SBP) on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, nitrogen excretion, blood urea nitrogen (BUN) concentration and carcass characteristics in finishing pigs. A total of 128 pigs were allotted at 53.9 kg BW to 8 replicates in a 2$\times$2 factorial arrangement in a randomized complete block (RCB) design. The first factor was phase feeding (2 or 3 phase feeding) and SBP (SBP: 0% or 10%) was the second factor. Ten percent SBP supplement groups showed lower average daily feed intake (ADFI) than 0% SBP supplement groups (p<0.05). However, there were no significant difference in average daily gain (ADG) and feed:gain ratio among treatments during overall experimental period. Nutrient digestibility was not affected by phase feeding or SBP supplementation. Urinary nitrogen excretion in 10% SBP supplement group was lower than that in 0% SBP supplement group (p<0.05) and total nitrogen excretion was lower in SBP supplement group than in the group without SBP. Urinary and total nitrogen were numerically decreased in three phase feeding compared to two phase feeding. The BUN concentration in three phase feeding groups was lower than two phase feeding groups at 47 and 63 day (p<0.05). Consequently, results of this experiment demonstrated that three phase feeding was more acceptable than two phase feeding for finishing pigs. And sugar beet pulp could be supplemented in finishing pig diet for decreasing urinary nitrogen excretion without retardation in growth performance of pigs.
The present study was carried out to investigate the effects of magnesium supplement levels and periods on calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus metabolism in male Sprague-Dawley rats given low protein and magnesium deficient diets for 2 weeks. Serum calcium content was significantly lower in the magnesium supplement group than in the magnesium-deficient group, but calcium excretion in urine and feces was significantly increased as magnesium level and period was increased. Increasing the dietary magnesium level and periods raised serum content and excretion of magnesium in urine k feces. Urinary excretion of phosphorus in two week group was significantly lower in the magnesium supplement group than in the magnesium-deficient group. fecal phosphorus excretion in supplement group (Mg 800mg/kg diet) was significantly higher than that of other group. Recently, environmental pollution by livestock excretion is gathering strength as livestock industry is advanced on a large scale. Bio-gas is generated more than about 70 precent if remove impurities in the course of extracting bio-gas to use livestock excretion. In this paper, we developed a device that can use it in heating after extracting bio-gas from livestock excretion collected in livestock farmhouse and can supply electricity by using generator developed in itself. Also, because this system is epoch-making no discharge system to solve smear of existing method, it is expected that we have effects to prevent environmental pollution and get alternation energy and burden on the institution to treat livestock excretion of a pig breeder is solved, if use it.
The alteration in the pharmacokinetic behaviors of organic cations (OCs) in rats during acute inflammation (AI) was investigated. AI was induced by an intraperitoneal injection of lipopolysaccharide (LPS, 5 mg/kg) 24 hr prior to the start of pharmacokinetic studies. Tributylmethylammonium (TBuMA) was selected as a model OC since it is largely excreted into bile, and is neither metabolized nor binds to proteins in the body. When TBuMA was administered intravenously to AI rats at a dose of 6.6 $\mu$mole/kg, the AUC was increased, while biliary excretion (i.e., cumulative amount and apparent clearance) was decreased compared to normal rats. When TBuMA was administered intravenously to AI rats at a constant rate (i.e., a bolus injection at a dose of 1.5 $\mu$mole/kg followed by a constant infusion at a rate of 1.5 $\mu$mole/kg/hr for 165 min), steady-state concentrations of plasma and liver concentrations of TBuMA were increased significantly, while in vivo hepatic uptake (amount) and canalicular excretion (clearance) were decreased. These results are consistent with a hypothesis in which both the sinusoidal uptake of TBuMA into hepatocytes via the OCT1 and the canalicular excretion of the compound from hepatocytes via the P-gp are decreased by LPS-induced AI.
