BaO-Pr$_2$O$_3$-TiO$_2$계 및 BaO-(Nd,Pr)$_2$O$_3$-TiO$_2$계 마이크로파 유전체의 합성 및 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Synthesis and the Properties on Microwave Dielectric Material of BaO-Pr$_2$O$_3$-TiO$_2$ and BaO-(Nd,Pr)$_2$O$_3$-TiO$_2$ System)

  • This experiment is third study concerning BaO-{{{{ { { Pr}_{ 2} O}_{3 } }}-{{{{ { TiO}_{2 } }} (Ln=Sm, Nd, Pr, La..) system which is known to show a high dielectric constant and Q value in microwave dielectric materials. The process of cry-stallization and the microwave dielectric properties of the specimens sintered at 1220-140$0^{\circ}C$ for 2 hr was investigated in the BaO-(Na,{{{{ { { Pr})_{2 }O }_{3 } }}-{{{{ { TiO}_{2 } }} as well as BaO-{{{{ { { Pr}_{ 2} O}_{3 } }}-{{{{ { TiO}_{2 } }} system. The single phase BaPr2Ti5O14 and Ba(Nd,{{{{ { { Pr})_{2 }O }_{3 } }}Ti5O14 was finally formed from the Pr2Ti2O7 (Nd, Pr)2Ti2O7 as a secondary phase in the BaO-{{{{ { { Pr}_{ 2} O}_{3 } }}-{{{{ { TiO}_{2 } }} and BaO-(Nd, {{{{ { { Pr})_{2 }O }_{3 } }}-{{{{ { TiO}_{2 } }} system respectively The dielectric constant of the specimens sint-ered at 1280~131$0^{\circ}C$ showed the maximum value as 105(BaO-{{{{ { { Pr}_{ 2} O}_{3 } }}-{{{{ { TiO}_{2 } }} system) and 88 (BaO-(Nd,{{{{ { { Pr})_{2 }O }_{3 } }}-{{{{ { TiO}_{2 } }} system) and the Q values of them showed higher value than 1800 which are due to the maximum den-sity. However the dielectric properties of the specimens sintered at higher temperature than 131$0^{\circ}C$ were reduced due to the increases of pore which were resulted from the sudden grain growth.

  • The effects of Mn2O3 and Y2O3 additives on the microstructure and dielectric properties of Sr(Zr, Ti)O3 have been investigated. Powders with Sr(Zr1-xTix)O3(0$\leq$x$\leq$0.1) composition were prepared by the conventional solid state processing from commercial TiO2 and precipitation-processed ZrO2. The powders containing sintering additives of Mn2O3 and Y2O3 were compacted and then sintered at 1,55$0^{\circ}C$ for 4 h to get>97% relative density. Mn2O3 suppressed the grain growth and Y2O3 enhanced the density of sintered body. The oxidation state of Mn ions were determined by a chemical wet method and EPR spectroscopy. Mn ions were present as Mn2+ and Mn4+ in SrZrO3, while as Mn3+ and Mn4+ in Ti-substituted Sr(Zr, Ti)O3. With the substitution of Ti, the lattice parameters of SrZrO3 decreased and its dielectric constant increased with remarkable decrease in Q value. The dielectric constant of Sr(Zr, Ti)O3 was in the range of 30 to 40, Q values 1,200~5,400 at 6 GHz and temperature coefficient of resonant frequency -67~100 ppm/K.

(Bi2O3)0.85.(Nb2O5)0.15-6Bi2O3.SiO2계 복합다결정체의 미세구조와 광학적 특성 (Microstructures and Optical Properties of Composite Crystals in the System (Bi2O3)0.85.(Nb2O5)0.15-6Bi2O3.SiO2)

  • An eutectic melt in the system(Bi2O3)0.85·(Nb2O5)0.15-6Bi2O3·SiO2 was unidirectionally solidfield at a rate of 0.5mm/h under a thermal gradient of 100℃/cm. Double crucibles and seed crystal plate were used in order to botain the composite crystals which had uniform microstructure throughout the ingot. The obtained composite crystals showed uniform microstructure, in which needle-like δ-(Bi2O3)0.85·(Nb2O5)0.15 crystals were arrayed in parallel in a matrix of γ-6Bi2O3·SiO2 single crystal. It was found that the <110> direction of δ-(Bi2O3)0.85·(Nb2O5)0.15 crystal was essentially parallel to the <111> direction of γ-6Bi2O3·SiO2 crystal in the composite crystals. A transverse thin plate of the composite crystals showed a high resolution optical transmission like an optical fiber array, and sharp chatoyancy was observed in the cabochon shaped composite crystals. Then, this may be useful for applications such as screen of a cathode ray tube or artificial cat's eye gem stones.

$Al_2O_3-CaO-Cr_2O_3$ 계 내화물의 고온 안정성 (High Temperature Stability for Refractories of the System $Al_2O_3-CaO-Cr_2O_3$)

  • CaO was added to the $MgAlCrO_4$ spinel, a main component of the mag-chro refractroies, by 0, 1, 5 and 10 mol% before sintering at 135$0^{\circ}C$ in air. The X-ray diffraction analysis produced an additional X-ray diffraction pattern of 8CaO.$6Al_2O_3$.$2CrO_3$ besides that of $MgAlCrO_4$. The formation of 8CaO.$6Al_2O_3$.$2CrO_3$ was interpreted as due to the presence of CaO.8CaO.$6Al_2O_3$.$2CrO_3$ was unstable and easily vaporized. It was concluded that formation of the unstable pollutant 8CaO.$6Al_2O_3$.$2CrO_3$ could be prevented in reducing atmospheres. It was found that the basic refractories containing $Al_2 O_3 -CaO-Cr_2 O_3$ system would be more stable and much less toxic in reducing at mospheres than in oxidizing stmosphere.

  • $Li_{2}O-P_{2}O_{5}-Bi_{2}O_{3}-V_{2}O_{5}$ glass containing glass former, $P_{2}O_{5}$ and $Bi_{2}O_{3}$ was prepard by melting the glass batch in pt. erucible followed by guenching on the copper plate. We found that $Li_{2}O-P_{2}O_{5}-Bi_{2}O_{3}-V_{2}O_{5}$ glass-ceramics obtained from the crystallization of glass showed signifieantly higher capacity and longer cycle life tham $LiV_{3}O_{8}$ made from powder synthesis. In this paper, we described crystallization process and $LiV_{3}O_{8}$ crystal growth in glass matrix by increasing temperature. The electrochemical properties were strongly affected by $LiV_{3}O_{8}$ crystal growth in matrix

  • $Na_2O$-CaO-$SiO_2$ 계 유리의 화학적 내구성을 향상시키면서 작업점도의 변화를 최소화 하기 위하여, 기본 조성 유리를 선정한 후, 이 조성에 $B_2O_3$, ZnO 성분의 첨가량을 변화시키고 $Na_2O$, $Al_2O_3$, $Li_2O$ 성분을 변화시켜가면서 각 성분이 물성에 미치는 영향을 조사하여 최적 조성비를 얻는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 본 실험결과 $Na_2O$-CaO-$SiO_2$계 유리에서 연화점 변화를 최소화하고 화학적내구성을 극대화 시키는 최적조성(wt%)은 다음과 같았다.$B_2O_3$:3.36%, ZnO:2.88%, $Na_2O$:9.93%, $Al_2O_3$, $Li_2O$:0.19%, $SiO_2$:70.56%, CaO:11.22%, $K_2O$:0.14%

  • A precipitation method, one of the most effective liquid phase reaction methods, was adopted in order to prepare high-tech Al2O3/ZrO2 composite ceramics, and the effects of stress-induced phase transformation of ZrO2 on thermal shock behavior of Al2O3-ZrO2 ceramics were investigated. Al2(SO4)3.18H2O, ZrOCl2.8H2O and YCl3.6H2O were used as starting materials and NH4OH as a precipitation agent. Metal hydroxides were obtained by single precipitation(process A) and co-precipitation(process B) method at the condition of pH=7, and the composition of Al2O3-ZrO2 composites was fixed as Al2O3-15v/o ZrO2(+3m/o Y2O3). Critical temperature difference showing rapid strength degradation by thermal shock showed higher value in Al2O3/ZrO2 composites(process A : 20$0^{\circ}C$, process B : 215$^{\circ}C$) than in Al2O3(175$^{\circ}C$). The improvement of thermal shock property for Al2O3/ZrO2 composites was mainly due to the increase of strength at room temperature by adding ZrO2. The strength degradation was more severe for the sample with higher strength at room temperature. Crack initiation energies by thermal shock showed higher values in Al2O3/ZrO2 composites than in Al2O3 ceramics due to increase of fracture toughness by ZrO2.

투명 결정화 유리에 관한 연구 - $Al_2O_3-SiO_2$계에 관하여 (A Study on the Transparent Glass-Ceramics On Al2O3-SiO2 System)

  • CaO and ZnO were added to Al2O3-SiO2 binary system respectively as flux, then ZrO2 and TiO2 were applied as nucleating agent to these CaO-Al2O3-SiO2 and ZnO-Al2O3-SiO2 ternary system glass. The transparency could not be kept in CaO-Al2O3-SiO2 system glass, whereas the transparent glass-ceramics were prepared in ZnO-Al2O3-SiO2 system glass containing ZrO2 as the nucleating agent. At this time the optimum heating temperatures for the nucleation and the crystal growth were 78$0^{\circ}C$ and 97$0^{\circ}C$. The sizes of the precipitated crystals in the transparent glass-ceramics were below 0.1 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, and their light transmissibilities were more than 80%.

  • Yttria-bismuth-stabilized zirconia was investigated with respect to the amount of $Bi_2O_3$ addition in the ran-ge of 0.5~5mol% to the base composition of $(ZrO_2)_{0.92}(Y_2O_3)_{0.08}.Bismuth was introduced into the ma-terial with $Bi_2O_3-SiO_2$ glasses in order to reduce the evaporation of components. The sinterbility evaporation of components phase formation and microstructure were evaluated depending on the amount of $Bi_2O_3-SiO_2$ glass addition. Two probe A. C conductivity measurement was subjected to all the specimens and the result was discussed on the possible substitution of $Bi^{3+}$ for $Zr^{4+}$ and interistial $Si^{4+}$ in the fluorite structure of zirconia crystal there-upon the possible change in the capability of oxygen transference within the material. It was found that the addition of $Bi_2O_3$ could improve the sinterbility of material very much while not so much.oxygen sensing material suitable for relative low temperature firing.

  • The reaction sintering of Al2O3-ZrO2-Nb composite has been investigated using Al2O3, and ZrAl2 powders. Two kinds of specimens, 78.3Al2O3-14.0Nb2O5-7.7ZrAl2 in wt.% (AZN-5) and 72.3Al2O3-13.8Nb2O5-7.5ZrAl2-6.4ZrO2(AZN-10), were prepared. Powder compacts were sintered at various temperatures between 1$600^{\circ}C$ and 1$700^{\circ}C$ for 30 min in Ar. DTA and X-ray analysis have showen that a reaction between Nb2O5 and ZrAl2 started at 149$0^{\circ}C$ to form Al2O3, ZrO2, and Nb. The sintered density increased with the sintering temperature. AZN-10 specimen showed higher density than AZN-5 specimen for almost all the experimental conditions. Al2O3-ZrO2-Nb composite hot pressed after reaction sintering showed higher toughness and lower hardness than hot pressed Al2O3-ZrO2. The crack propagated through many metallic Nb particles which showed plastic deformation, and this is the cause of the increase in toughness of Al2O3-ZrO2-Nb composite over Al2O3-ZrO2.
