  • The Piezoelectric ceramics for AE(Acoustic Emission) sensor are desired large electromechanical coupling factor, high mechanical quality factor and good characteristic resonance frequency. In this study, the empirical formula of specimens is used $0.9Pb(Zr_xTi_{1-x})O_3-0.1Pb(Mn_{1/3}Nb_{1/3}Sb_{1/3})O_3$ (PZT-PMNS). The piezoelectric and dielectric characteristic are investigated by sintering temperature and value of x as functions of $Ti^{2+},\;Zi^{2+}$ mol rate. MPB(morphotropic Phase boundary) is defined in the x=0.522. Because it is appeared to the best piezoelectric and dielectric characteristic in the x=0.522, it can be application by AE sensor. PZT-PMNS ceramics without pre-amplifier and filter are tested for detecting of arc signal. The detection characteristic is evaluated wave form, frequency distribution.

  • In this work, the nanocrystalline ZnO/polycrystalline (poly) aluminum nitride (AlN)/Si structure was fabricated for humidity sensor applications based on surface acoustic wave (SAW). In this structure, the ZnO film was used as sensing material layer. These ZnO and AlN(0002) were deposited by so-gel process and a pulse reactive magnetron sputtering, respectively. These experimental results showed that the obtained SAW velocity on AlN film was about 5128 m/s at $h/\lambda$=0.0125 (h and $\lambda$ is thickness and wavelength, respectively). For ZnO sensing layers coated on AlN, films have hexagonal wurtzite structure and nanometer particle size. The crystalline size of ZnO films annealed at 400, 500, and 600 $^{\circ}C$ is 10.2, 29.1, and 38 nm, respectively. Surface of the film exhibits spongy which can adsorb steam in the air. The best quality of the ZnO film was obtained with annealing temperature at 500 $^{\circ}Cis$. The change in frequency response (127.9~127.85 MHz) of the SAW humidity sensor based on ZnO/AlN structure was measured along the change in humidity (41~69%). The structural properties of thin films wereinvestigated by XRD and SEM.

  • Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute researchers have installed and operated magnetometers at Bohyunsan Observatory to measure the Earth's magnetic field variations in South Korea. In 2007, we installed a fluxgate magnetometer (RFP-523C) to measure H, D, and Z components of the geomagnetic field. In addition, in 2009, we installed a Overhauser proton sensor to measure the absolute total magnetic field F and a three-axis magneto-impedance sensor for spectrum analysis. Currently three types of magnetometer data have been accumulated. In this paper, we use the H, D, Z components of fluxgate magnetometer data to investigate the characteristics of mid-latitude geomagnetic field variation. To remove the temporary changes in Earth's geomagnetic filed by space weather, we use the international quiet days' data only. In other words, we performed a superposed epoch analysis using five days per each month during 2008-2011. We find that daily variations of H, D, and Z shows similar tendency compared to previous results using all days. That is, H, D, Z all three components' quiet intervals terminate near the sunrise and shows maximum 2-3 hours after the culmination and the quiet interval start from near the sunset. Seasonal variations show similar dependences to the Sun. As it becomes hot season, the geomagnetic field variation's amplitude becomes large and the quiet interval becomes shortened. It is well-known that these variations are effects of Sq current system in the Earth's atmosphere. We confirm that the typical mid-latitude geomagnetic field variations due to the Sq current system by excluding all possible association with the space weather.

  • In oriental medicine, it is possible to classify and treat many diseases using the pulse wave detection system. Other problems may arise. As it is a very subjective way to analyze the pulse wave. One problem of the conventional pulse wave detection system is that the arterial pulse sensor is not located correctly at the radial artery. Threrefore measurement results can differ depending on the measurement position and the measurement procedure. This is mostly due to it's sensitivity to high reproducibility. In order to solve this problem this paper proposes an algorithm to analyze the weak pulse wave symptom and strong pulse wave symptom. It uses the portable pulse wave detection system which includes a Hall Sensor. As a final result, it analyzed the weak pulse wave symptom and strong pulse wave symptom by the SPSS statistics technique. It proves that N time (notch point time) and S Amp (rise waveform size) mean values are significantly different in 95% confidence interval.

  • Metallic magnetic calorimeters (MMCs) are one of the most competitive low temperature detector (LTD) readout sensors. They have the advantages of high time resolution, no heat dissipation, and a wide range of operating temperature. We apply MMCs to our neutrinoless double beta decay ($0v{\beta}{\beta}$) search experiment. A $CaMoO_4$ crystal was employed as both a source of $0v{\beta}{\beta}$ and an energy absorber. The crystal was thermally connected to a MMC sensor. We set a simple thermal model for this detector and measured pulse shapes are compared with a numerical solution of the thermal model.

  • This paper describes a K-band microstrip patch antenna suitable for an adaptive cruise control(ACC) system. The presented transmitting and receiving patch antennas are designed with $1{\times}2$ array. The antennas are simulated using CST MWS and manufactured using RO-4003(h=0.5mm, ${\epsilon}r=3.38$). The antennas are installed on the backside of the sensor circuit and measured. The estimated gain and beamwidth are 8.5dBi and about $50^{\circ}$ respectively. The measured bandwidth is about 1GHz($VSWR{\le}2$) which satisfies the desired specification.

  • We have constructed a new kind of magnetic motion capture sensor based on the pulse magnetic field method. 3-orthogonal magnetic pulse fields were generated in turns only one period of sinusoidal waveform using 3-orthogonal magnetic dipole coils, ring counter and analog multiplier. These pulse magnetic fields were measured with 3-orthogonal search coils, of which induced voltages by the x-, y-, and l-dipole sources using S/H amplifier at the time position of maximum induced voltage. Using the developed motion capture sensor, we can measure position of sensor with uncertainty of ${\pm}$0.5% in the measuring range from ${\pm}$0.5 m to ${\pm}$1.5 m.

  • A fuzzy ARTMAP neural network and a fuzzy ART neural network are proposed to identify $H_2S$, $NH_3$ and their mixtures and to estimate their concentrations, respectively. Features are extracted from a micro gas sensor array operated in a thermal modulation plan. After dimensions of the features are reduced by a preprocessing scheme, the features are fed into the proposed fuzzy neural networks. By computer simulations, the proposed methods are shown to be fast in learning and accurate in concentration estimating. The results are compared with other methods and discussed.

  • Slotless Permanent Magnet Brushless DC Motor(PM BLDC) with the characteristics of high speed and power density has been more widely used In Industrial and factory machine. Generally, PM BLDC meter is necessary that the three Hall-lCs evenly be distributed around the stator circumference in case of the 3 phase motor. The Hall-ICs are set up in PM BLDC Motor to detect the main flux from the rotor. therefore the output signal from Hall-ICs is used to drive a power transistor to control the stator winding current. However, instead of using three Hall-ICs, if it used only one Hall-IC, we can estimate information of the others phase in sequence through a rotor This paper identified the characteristics and performance by using one Hall-IC with the 3-phase, 2-pole, 6-slot PM BLDC motor.
