Performance Investigation of Water Vapor Permeation Using PVA/PSSA-MA Membranes (PVA/PSSA-MA막을 이용한 수증기 투과 성능에 관한 연구)

  • The crosslinked poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) mwmbranes with poly(styrene sulfonic acid-co-maleic acid) (PSSA-MA) were used to measure the water vapor and air permeabilities at 25 and $35^{\circ}C$. In addition, the contact angles of crosslinked PVA membranes were observed and increased with PSSA-MA contents. The water vapor permeability of 15300 Baller (1 Baller=$10^{-10}cm^3(STP){\cdot}cm/cm^2{\cdot}s{\cdot}cmHg$) was shown the maximum value at $35^{\circ}C$ when PSSA-MA=7 wt% membrane was used. The gas permeability of 146 Barrer was indicated the maximum at PSSA-MA=7 wt% at $35^{\circ}C$ and $P(H_2O)/P(Air)$ was the highest value 109.2 at $25^{\circ}C$.

  • CdS는 2.42 eV의 밴드 갭을 가지는 직접 천이형 반도체로서 CdTe계와 CGIS계 태양전지의 접합 partner로 많이 이용되어 왔다. 태양전지의 광투과층으로 사용되는 CdS 박막의 필요한 물성으로는 높은 광투과도와 얇은 두께이다. 광투과층으로 사용되는 CdS 막의 광투과도가 높아야 많은 양의 빛이 손실 없이 투과하여 광흡수층인 CIGS에 도달할 수 있다. 특히, CdS막의 두께가 얇으면 밴드 갭 이상의 에너지를 가지는 파장의 빛도 투과시킬 수 있어 태양전지의 효율의 증가을 얻을 수가 있다. 그러나 CdS 막의 두께가 얇을 경우, pinhole이 생성되는 등 막의 균질성이 문제가 되기 때문에 얇으면서도 pinhole이 없는 CdS 박막을 만들기 위한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 높은 변환 효율을 갖는 CIGS 박막 태양전지 제작에 적합한 chemical bath depostion(츙)법을 이용하여 CdS 박막을 제조하였다. 또한 반응온도, Cd 및 S source 비, 반응용액의 pH와 같은 증착 조건에 따른 박막의 구조적, 광학적 특성을 조사하였다.

PVA/Silica Hybrid Membrane Containing Sulfonic Acid Croup for Direct Methanol Fuel Cells Application (Sulfonic acid group을 갖는 PVA/Silica Hybrid막의 DMFC 응용)

  • In the present study, crosslinked poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) membranes were prepared at various crosslinking agent content using sulfosuccinic acid (SSA) containing sulfonic acid group ($SO_3H)$. To reduce methanol permeability, silica was introduced to the membrane using sol-gel process. The hybrid membranes were studied in relation to proton conductivity and methanol permeability. It was found that both these properties were very dependent on the effect of SSA content as a crosslinking agent and as a donor of hydrophilic $SO_3H)$ group. The proton conductivities of these PVA/SSA/Silica membranes are in the range from $10^{-3}\;to\;10^{-2}$S/cm and the methanol permeabilities are in the range from $10^{-8}\;to\;10^{-7}\;cm^2/sec$.

  • 가시광선영역에서 높은 광학적 투명도를 갖는 n-type 반도체인 ZnO 박막은 넓은 범위에서 응용되고 있다. 현재 ZnO 박막의 특성 향상을 위하여 여러 원소(Al, Ga)의 도핑을 시도하고 있다. 특히 Al-doped ZnO 박막은 sol-gel dip coating에 의해서도 높은 전기전도도와 투과율로 활발히 연구되고 있다 본 논문에서는 여러 도핑농도를 갖는 Al-doped ZnO 박막이 sol-gel dip coating법에 의해 준비되었다. Al-doped ZnO 박막은 zinc acetate [Zn($CH_3$COO$_2$)ㆍ2$H_2O$] powder 와 여러 도핑농도를 갖는 aluminum nitrate (Al(NO$_3$)$_3$ㆍ9$H_2O$) powder를 알코올에 용해하여 $H_2O$, Ethylene glycol, Ethylene diamine 등을 첨가하여 제조하였다 XRD와 SEM (Scanning electron microscope)이 막의 상형성 분석을 위해 이용되었으며, 가시광선 영역 투과율(UV/VIS spectrophotometer)과 표면전기저항(four point probe)이 주요 특성으로 분석되었다.

Pervaporation Separation of Trace Toluene from Water Using Hydrophobic Copolyimide Membranes (소수성 폴리이미드공중합체 막에 의한 저농도 톨루엔함유 수용액의 투과증발분리)

  • Pervaporation separation of toluene from water were studied using hydrophobic copolyimide membranes. The copolyimide membranes were prepared from 4,4'-(hexafluoroisopropylidene)diphthalic anhydride (6FDA) and two diamines (polysiloxane diamine (SIDA)/2-(perfluorohexyl) ethyl-3,5-diaminobenzene (PFDAB)). The pervaporation properties for toluene/water were investigated in terms of mol ratio of SIDA/PFDAB in polyimide membranes. Sorption- and diffusion-related properties were measured to analyze the permeation properties in solution-diffusion theory, It was found that as the SIDA content in the membranes increased, sorption of toluene and sorption selectivity of toluene/water increased due to high affinity of siloxane moiety toward toluene. Diffusion coefficient of toluene and diffusion selectivity of toluene/water also increased with SIDA content due to high free volume of siloxane moiety. As the results, the permeation flux and pervaporation selectivity increased markedly from 0.005 $kg/m^2h$ to 049 $kg/m^2h$ and from 9 to 6380, respectively.

Production of Sorbitol Using Dried and Immobilized Zymomonas mobilis (건조 고정화 Zymomonas mobilis에 의한 sorbitol 생산)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a continuous process for sorbitol production using dried Zymomonas mobilis immobilized in K-carrageenan. The methods of glularaldehyde cross-linking of enzymes in CTAB (celyltrimetylammoniumbromide) treated cells immobilized in K-carrageenan showed stability for the production of sorbitol for 30 days of operation. K-carrageenan beads entrapping permeabilized cells were dried to Improve bead rigidity and storage stability. A semi-batch process with dry beads was carried out and only a small loss of enzyme activity (less than 8%) was observed during 72h. The value of Vmax for the dry K-carrageenan beads was found to be one half or that for free cells. It was shown that the productivities of the continuous process with wet K-carrageenan beads and dry beads at a dilution rate 0.1h-1 were 3.4g/L-h and 2.88h/L-h, respectively.

Effects of Extracting Conditions on the Properties of Pish Meal Protein Isolates and the Permeability of Protein Film for Ester Compounds (추출조건이 어분단백질 물성과 필름의 ester 화합물 투과율에 미치는 영향)

  • To obtain the basic data for preparing edible or biodegradable film, fish meal protein isolates (FMPI) were prepared through alkaline extraction. And FMPI's properties and the ester compounds permeability of FMPI film were measured. FMPI were extracted under various extracting time with 0.2 N NaOH solution at $60^{\circ}C$, Recovery ratios of FMPI extracted from fish meal were increased with extracting time increasing. Surface hydrophobicity of FMPI extracted for 1 hr showed highest value. Emulsifying activity index (EAI) was increased with the increasement of extracting time but its emulsifying stability index (ESI) showed an inverse results. Viscosity of FMPI solution showed the highest value at pH 2 but showed the lowest value at pH 4, The higher concentration of sorbitol as plasticizer showed the higher ethyl acetate permeability of FMPI film, Ethyl acetate permeability of FMPI films according to kind of plasticizers showed different degree and increased in order as follow: polyethylene glycol, glycerol and sorbitol. Ester compounds having the lower molecular weight showed the higher permeability. Increment of temperature increased the ethyl acetate permeability of FMPI film. FMPI haying higher surface hydrophobicity made FMPI film be higher tensile strength. On elongation of FMPI films, kinds of plasticizer were more effective than surface hydrophobicity of FMPI.

  • Anodic alumina with self-organized and ordered nano hole arrays can be a good candidate of an irradiation mask to modify the properties of nano-scale region. In order to try using porous anodic alumina as a mask for ion-beam patterning, ion beam transmittance of anodic alumina was tested. 4 Um thick self-standing AAO templates anodized from Al bulk foil with two different aspect ratio, 200:1 and 100:1, were aligned about incident ion beam with finely controllable goniometer. At the best alignment, the transmittance of the AAO with aspect ratio of 200:1 and 100:1 were $10^{-8}\;and\;10^{-4}$, respectively. However transmittance of the thin film AAO with low aspect ratio, 5:1, were remarkably improved to 0.67. The ion beam transmittance of self-standing porous alumina with a thickness larger than $4{\mu}m$ is extremely low owing to high aspect ratio of nano hole and charging effect, even at a precise beam alignment to the direction of nano hole. $SiO_2$ nano dot array was formed by ion irradiation into thin film AAO on $SiO_2$ film. This was confirmed by scanning electron microscopy that the $SiO_2$ nano dot array is similar to AAO hole array.

Acid Tolerance of Lactobacillus brevis Isolated from Kimchi (김치에서 분리한 Lactobacillus brevis의 내산성)

  • We isolated wild lactic acid bacteria from kimchi and identified as Lactobacillus brevis by using API 50 CHL Kit, some morphological and physiological tests. In order to evaluate the acid tolerance of Lactobacillus brevis, its survivals rate, glycolysis assay, membrane permeability, and pH profiles of $H^+-ATPase$ were also determined. When Lactobacillus brevis were incubated in Lactobacilli MRS broth adjusted to various levels of pH for 2 hours, the decreases in its population at pH 4.0 and 3.0 were about 2.61 log cycles/mL and 5.89 log cycles/mL, respectively, but there was no decrease at pH 6.0 and 5.0. Glycolysis by Lactobacillus brevis had optimal pH about 6.5 and glucose degradation was reduced by 50% at a pH of 5.2. $Mg^{++}$ release from Lactobacillus brevis cells in medium with pHs of 4.0 and 3.0 was 24.3 and 71.2% of totals, respectively. The $H^+-ATPase$ of Lactobacillus brevis showed a maximal activity between pH values of approximately 6.5 to 7.0.

  • 고분자막을 이용한 분리기술은 에너지 절약과 높은 효율성으로 인해 현재 광범위하게 연구되어 지고 있다. CO$_2$와 CH$_4$를 주성분으로 하는 natural gas 분리나 수소회수, $H_2/CO_2$ 분리등의 실제 분리목적을 수행하기 위해서는 동시에 투과도와 선택도가 높은 막의 개발이 필요한데, 이러한 두가지 분리막 특성을 향상시키기 위해 새로운 고분자 재질의 개발이나 박막화등을 시도하여 왔다.
