백두산 화산군 환경과 동굴 암석의 년대측정 및 성분분석

  • The Paektu-san mountains are geographically situated in the Korea strait to the north of the main peninsula, coordinated between the longitudes of W(127$^{\circ}$15'~128$^{\circ}$00')and E(128$^{\circ}$15'~129$^{\circ}$00'), and between the latitudes of S(41$^{\circ}$15'~42$^{\circ}$00') and N(42$^{\circ}$10'~42$^{\circ}$40'). The volcanic group of the Paektu-san mountains can be devided into 2 main kinds of volcanos by the method investigation, The ashes are mainly made of tremolite, trachte, basalt and pumice, or, a little quartz, labradorite and volcanic glass. These sorts, ratios and forms of the rocks are respectively similar. The Haeven lake is surrounded by 19 peaks. The central volcanic cone is a secant cone in shape, with an altitude of the 1800m to 2749,2m (Chang-kun-bong), an average diameter of 10km, and a shape of an ellipse seen high from the plane. They say there were several eruptions in 1668, 1700 and 1702 A. D. The crystal structure of the rock sample collected at the cave of Mt. Paektu-san is monoclinic. The quantitative analysis of the rock samples in the cave is done by using XRF this time. The chemical compositions by XRF fundamamental parameter analysis is : SiO$_2$: 50.72Wt%, TiO = 2.422Wt%, $Al_2$O$_3$= 17.65Wt%, Fe$_2$O$_3$= 9.371Wt%, CaO = 8.711Wt%, MgO = 4.l19Wt%, MnO = 0.l15Wt%, $K_2$O = 1.369Wt%, Na$_2$O : 3.028Wt% and P$_2$O$_{5}$ = 0.365Wt%. The K-Ar age of the rock sample is also determined to be 0.16Ma. This paper describes some problems experienced in dating young volcanic rocks, and then discusses chemical compositions, X-ray fluorescence analyses and the age of the formation of a lava tunnel such as in Mt. Paektu-san.n.

  • Studies has been carried out on the characteristics of thermally stimulated current for polypropylene in the temperature range of $293[^{\circ}K]{\sim}403[^{\circ}K]$. The main peak observed at $366[^{\circ}K]$, as may be $\beta$ peak in conventional nomination, is believed to be depolarization current originated from the relaxation of "CO" group in monomer structure. The activation energy for the observed peak has been concluded to be in the range of $0.6{\sim}0.7[(eV]$ at $360[^{\circ}K]$ by the initial rise method. Furthermore, the initial density of carriers were calculated about $10^{22}/m^3$

  • The age growth pattern of Myagropsis mygroides (Cystoseiraceae, Phaeophyta)population were investigated at Tongyeong (128$^{\circ}$ 25' E and 34$^{\circ}$ 45' N) in South coast of Korea, from September 1998 to August 1999. Water temperatures varied from 7.7${^{\circ}C}$ to 26${^{\circ}C}$ during the survey period. Distinct seasonal changes were found in the plant legth and wet weight of plant, and their maximum length and wet weight were attained 70.5(${\pm}$ 20.9) cm and 191.8(${\pm}$ 135.0) g during April and May. The growth patterns were divided into four periods of slow growth (September-November), fast growth (December-February), maturing growth (March-May) and declining period (June-August). The Tongyeong population of M. myagroides was dominated by less than three-year old small plants with slower growth rates, shorter plant length, lighter plant weight than those of other locations in Korea.

  • 강원도 지역은 대부분의 지형이 산지로 이루어져 있고, 최근 심각해지고 있는 기후 변화로 인해 집중호우가 잦아지면서 이로 인한 산사태 피해 또한 증가하고 있는 상황이다. 하지만 기존에 이루어져왔던 직접 측량 방식은 많은 시간과 인력이 소모되고, 접근성의 제약으로 인해 곳곳에서 발생하는 모든 산사태를 체계적으로 감지하기에는 무리가 따른다. 따라서 효율적인 산사태 감지와 신속한 대처를 위해 최근 인공위성을 이용한 원격 탐측이 주목을 받고 있으며, 특히 고해상도 영상 레이더(Synthetic Aperture Radar, SAR)는 태양광의 유무나 대기 조건에 상관없이 상시 관측이 가능하다는 장점으로 인해 그 수요가 점점 늘어나고 있는 추세이다. 본 연구에서는 산사태가 집중되는 지역인 강원도 강릉 부근(N $37^{\circ}.30'{\sim}38{\circ}.10'$, E $128^{\circ}.05'{\sim}129^{\circ}.00'$)을 대상으로 SAR 영상 처리 기법 중 하나인 간섭기법(Interferometric SAR, InSAR)를 통해 생성되는 coherence 영상을 분석하여 93년 7월 27일과 동년 9월 9일 사이에 발생한 산사태 피해 지역을 추정하였다.

Fault Plane Solutions of the Recent Earthquakes in the Northern Part of the Korean Peninsula

  • Fault plane solutions in North Korea and the northern part of the Yellow Sea ($37.5^{\circ}N-40.5^{\circ}N$, $124.5^{\circ}E-128.5^{\circ}E$) was studied for the earthquakes that occurred from November, 2008 to May, 2013. The analysis was based on the data collected from seismic networks in Korea and China. Fault plane solutions were obtained from P and SH wave polarities and SH/P amplitude ratioes. Most earthquakes exhibited predominantly strike-slip fault characteristics with NNE-SSW or WNW-ESE nodal planes. The P-axes trends are mainly NE-SW or ENE-WSW direction in the northern part of the Yellow Sea and inland area of North Korea except some areas in the Hwanghae province. Fault plane solutions and main axis of stress field in the study region were similar to those observed in the southern part of the Korean Peninsula.

Analysis on the Source Characteristics of the Recent Five-year Earthquakes Occurred in the Central and Western Areas of the Korean Peninsula (최근 5년간 한반도 중서부 지역에서 발생한 지진의 진원 특성 분석)

  • Focal mechanism solutions in the central and western areas of the Korean Peninsula (36-37.8$^{\circ}N$, 126-128$^{\circ}E$) were obtained from the analysis of the recent seventeen earthquakes (M${\geq}$2.2) which occurred from January, 2005 to May, 2010. The spatial differences between the epicenters recalculated by this study and those announced by the Korea Meteorological Administration are less than $0.03^{\circ}$, indicating a small deviation. Focal mechanism solutions were obtained from the analysis of P wave polarities, SH wave polarities and SH/P amplitude ratios. The focal mechanism solutions show dominant strike-slip faulting or oblique slip faulting with strike-slip components. The P-axes trends are mainly ENE-WSW or E-W directions. The direction of fault plane and auxillary fault plane with NNE-SSW and WNW-ESE are almost parallel to the general trends of lineaments in the study area. The results also show that focal mechanism solutions and the main axis of stress field in the Kyonggi massif and Okchon belt are almost same.

Defect Structure and Electrical Conduction Mechanism of Manganese Oxide-Titanium Dioxide (산화망간-이산화티탄계의 결함구조 및 전기전도메카니즘)

  • The electrical conductivity of n-type polycrystalline MnOx-Ti$O_2$ system containing 0.40, 0.80, and 1.60 mol % of manganese oxide has been measured from 100 to 400$^{\circ}$C and 1100 to 1300$^{\circ}$C under oxygen partial pressures of$10^{-8}\;to\;10^{-1}$ atm. Plots of log conductivity vs. reciprocals of absolute temperature at constant $Po_2$'s are found to be linear with an inflection, and the activation energies obtained from the slopes appear to be an enough average 0.18eV for the extrinsic and 3.70eV for the intrinsic. The log $\sigma$ vs. log $Po_2$ are found to be linear at $Po_2$'s of $10^{-8}\;to\;10^{-1}$atm. The conductivity dependences on $Po_2$at the two temperature regions are closely approximated by $\sigma{\propto}$Po_2$-1}6$ for the extrinsic and $${\sigma}{\propto}Po_2^{-1}4}$$ for the intrinsic, respectively. The predominant defects are believed to be Vo-2e' and $Ti^3$${\cdot}$interstitial at the extrinsic and intrinsic. From the interpretations of conductivity dependences on temperature and$Po_2$ , the conduction mechanisms and possible band models are proposed.

Establishment of New Single Origin Plane Rectangular Coordinate System in Korea (한국의 새로운 단일원점 평면직각좌표계 설정)

  • As a worldwide trend, the spatial information that is established by country, institution and purpose is integrated into the data with a single spatial reference to improve the data connectivity and usability. In this study, a new national single origin plane rectangular coordinate system was studied to efficiently respond to the changes in the spatial reference according to the introduction of a new national geodetic standard and to the demand of seamless data service in the spatial information sector. For this purpose, the Korean Peninsula was set as the projection region and the projection distortion in the projection region was analyzed. The projection parameters were defined to homogenize and minimize the projection distortion, and their standardization and registration on the international organizations were conducted. The study on the required optimal projection equation resulted in the Hooijberg projection equation and projection parameters (${\Phi}$, ${\lambda}$, K, N, E) resulted in $38^{\circ}N$ and $128^{\circ}E$ projection origin, and a scale factor of 0.99924. The proper false northing and easting were 700,000m N and 400,000m E, respectively, considering the introduction of country station index system.

Reduction in Residual Pesticides and Quercetin Yields in Onion Peel Extracts by Washing (세척방법에 따른 양파껍질추출물의 Quercetin수율 및 잔류농약 제거효과)

  • This study was conducted to assess the removal of residual pesticides and to obtain high amounts of quercetin in onion peel extracts (OPEs) by 4 washing treatments. Washing is one of the standard processing steps in obtaining functional food ingredients from onion peel. After a first detergent wash (0.2% w/v) (DW) and hot air drying ($80^{\circ}C$, 24 hr) (B), 4 washing treatments were tested, including a second DW (C), ultrasonication ($50^{\circ}C$, 10 min) plus DW (D), 0.3% $H_2O_2$ (v/v) plus DW (E), and blanching ($95-97^{\circ}C$, 2 min) plus DW (F). This was followed by 60% (v/v) ethanol extraction and vacuum freeze drying of the OPE. The E treatment yielded 89.04% OPE and a quercetin content of 96.84% in the OPE compared with the B treatment, and had the highest efficiency of all treatments tested. The OPE was tested for the presence of 177 residual pesticides and three compounds were detected in all treatments: cyhalothirn, fluquinconazole and procymidone. Cyhalothirn and fluquinconazole levels were below the permitted levels for fresh onion, while procymidone was present in the high level range of 128.01~133.46 mg/kg in all samples. The E treatment was a better washing method than the others for removal of residual pesticides. It could reduce the level of residual pesticides without changing the functional properties of the OPE.

UNDERWATER DISTRIBUTION OF VESSEL NOISE (선박소음의 수중분포에 관한 연구)

  • The noise pressure scattered underwater on account of the engine revolution of a pole and liner, Kwan-Ak-San(G. T. 234.96), was measured at the locations of Lat. $34^{\circ}47'N$, Long. $128^{\circ}53'E$ on the 16th of August 1976 and Lat. $34^{\circ}27'N$, Long. $128^{\circ}23'E$ on the 28th of July, 1977. The noise pressure passed through each observation point (Nos. 1 to 5), which was established at every 10m distance at circumference of outside hull was recorded when the vessel was cruising and drifted. In case of drifting, the revolution of engine was fixed at 600 r. p. m. and the noise was recorded at every 10 m distance apart from observation point No. 3 in both horizontal and vertical directions with $90^{\circ}$ toward the stern-bow line. In case of cruising, the engine was kept in a full speed at 700 r.p.m. and the sounds passed through underwater in 1 m depth were also recorded while the vessel moved back and forth. The noise pressure was analyzed with sound level meter (Bruel & Kjar 2205, measuring range 37-140 dB) at the anechoic chamber in the Institute of Marine Science, National Fisheries University of Busan. The frequency and sound waves of the noise were analyzed in the Laboratory of Navigation Instrument. From the results, the noise pressure was closely related to the engine revolution shelving that the noise pressure marked 100 dB when .400 r. p. m. and increase of 100 r. p. m. resulted in 1 dB increase in noise pressure and the maximum appeared at 600 r. p. m. (Fig.5). When the engine revolution was fixed at 700 r. p. m., the noise pressures passed through each observation point (Nos. 1 to 5) placed at circumference of out side hull were 75,78,76,74 and 68 dB, the highest at No.2, in case of keeping under way while 75,76,77,70 and 67 dB, the highest at No.3 in case of drifting respectively (Fig.5). When the vessel plyed 1,400 m distance at 700 r.p.m., the noise pressure were 67 dB at the point 0 m, 64 dB at 600m and 56 dB at 1,400m on forward while 72 at 0 m, 66 at 600 m and 57 dB at 1,400 m on backward respectively indicating the Doppler effects 5 dB at 0 m and 3 dB at 200 m(Fig.6). The noise pressures passed through the points apart 1,10,20,30,40 and 50 m depth underwater from the observation point No.7 (horizontal distance 20 m from the point No.3) were 68,75,62,59,55 and 51 dB respectively as the vessel was being drifted maintaining the engine revolution at 600 r. p. m. (Fig. 8-B) whereas the noise pressures at the observation points Nos.6,7,8,9 and 10 of 10 m depth underwater were 64,75,55,58,58 and 52 dB respectively(Fig.8-A).
