Study on the Improvement of Strength for 12% Chromium Steel Rotor (12% Cr 로터강의 강도 개선에 관한 연구)

  • To check technical improvement in the soundness and strength of 12% Cr steel rotor, a 25 tons of rotor with 65 tons of ingot was made in real size and was cut to pieces to take test samples, and the various mechanical tests such as impact, tensile, creep, and fatigue were carried out. The strengths are compared with those of 1% Cr-Mo-V rotor of same size. Microstructures of the samples are examined and reviewed. The results can be summarized as follows. 1) Fracture appearance transition temperatures are 80.deg. C at the center part and 60.deg. C near surface of 12% Cr rotor, and 8.deg. C near surface of 1% Cr-Mo-V rotor. 2) Comparative rapid softening occurs at higher temperatures above 600.deg. C for 12% Cr steel and 550.deg. C for 1% Cr-Mo-V steel in tension tests. 3) Fatigue crack propagation rate of 12% Cr steel is almost same as that of 1% Cr-Mo-V steel at the same corresponding surface part of the rotors. The crack growth rate of center part of 12% Cr rotor is faster than near surface part of the rotor, and the crack growth rate at the load condition of R=0.04 is slower than that of the load condition of R=0.5 for both 12% Cr steel and 1% Cr-Mo-V steel. 4) Crack growth rate of radial direction near surface of 12% Cr rotor is faster than that of transverse direction at the same part because of the difference in residual stresses. 5) Both creep and fatigue strengths of 12% Cr steel are superior to those of 1% Cr-Mo-V steel and the difference is thought the effect of climb and glide controlled creep by solid solution of alloying elements and dispersion of carbides.

  • Reactions of [Cp*Ir(η3-CH2CHCHPh)(NCMe)]OTf (1) with HC≡CR (R = H, CH2OH) in the presence of bases, B (B=NEt3, PPh3, AsPh3) produce stable Cp*Ir-η3-allyl-alkenyl compounds [Cp*Ir(η3-CH2CHCHPh)(-CH=CH-+B)]OTf (2) and [Cp*Ir(η3-CH2CHCHPh)(-C(CH2OH)=CH- +PPh3)]OTf (3), respectively in high yields. Cp*Ir-η3-allyl-alkynyl compounds Cp*Ir(η3-CH2CHCHPh(-C≡C-R') (4) and Cp*(η3-CH2CHCHPh)Ir-C≡C-p-C6H4-C≡C-Ir(η3-CH2CHCHPh)Cp* (5) have been prepared from reactions of 1 with HC≡CR'(R' = C6H5, p-C6H4CH3, C3H5, C6H9) and HC≡C-p-C6H4-C≡CH in the presence of NEt3.

The Solidification Microstructure of X%C-5%Cr-5%V-5%Mo-5%W-5%Co Multi-Component White Cast Iron (X%C-5%Cr-5%V -5%Mo-5%W-5%Co 다합금계백주철의 응고조직에 관한 연구)

  • Type and three-dimensional morphology of carbides precipitated in the X(X= 1.70, 1.92, 2.21, 2.50, 2.86)%C-5%Cr-5%V-5%Mo-5%W-5%Co multi-component white cast iron were investigated using an optical microscope and SEM. The types of carbides precipitated were MC, M$_2$C and M$_{7}$C$_{3}$. Morphology of the MC carbide took three forms, that it petal-like, nodular and coral-like. MC carbide seemed to change its morphology from petal-like through nodular, and finally to coral-like with an increase in carbon content. M7C carbide was classified into lamellar and plate-like type. The lamellar M$_2$C arbide precipitated in the iron with low molybdenum and tungsten contents, and higher contents of both elements in the iron were needed to form the plate-like M$_2$C carbide. The morphology of M$_{7}$C$_{3}$ was rod-like similar to that observed in high chromium white cast iron. However, cobalt does not affect the type and morphology of precipitated carbides.des.

  • 휴대전화, 랩톱 컴퓨터 등 각종 모바일기기 및 디스플레이 기기의 경박단소화 및 고기능화에 따라 연성회로기판(FPCB)의 사용량이 증가하고있다. 연성회로기판의 핵심소재인 동박적층필름(FCCL)은 폴리이미드필름과 접착층, Cu 층으로 구성되는데, 이 중접착층으로 사용되는 Ni-20Cr합금은 에칭공정 후 Cr의 잔류에 의해 불량률 증가가 문제되고 있어, Ni-Cr합금 스퍼터링 타깃의 Cr 함량 저감 또는 Cr-free Ni합금 개발 등이 요구되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 차세대 FCCL 본드층에 적합한 Ni기 합금을 개발하기 위한 기초연구로써 Cr 함량 및 가공열처리조건에 따른 미세조직과 집합조직 변화를 조사하였다. 4N급의 고순도Ni과 Cr을 진공 플라즈마 용해장치로 용해하여Ni-xCr (x=5, 10, 15, 20wt.%)합금 잉곳을 만들고, 이를 두께감소율 90%로 냉간압연한 후, $600^{\circ}C$$800^{\circ}C$에서 10~120분 동안 어닐링하여 시편을 준비하였다. 광학현미경으로 미세조직을 관찰하고, Micro-Vickers 경도시험을 통해 어닐링 조건에 따른 경도변화를 조사하였다. 또한 SEM-EBSD를 이용하여 집합조직 및 입계특성을 분석하였다. $600^{\circ}C$ 어닐링 시 Cr함량이 증가할수록 재결정 완료시간이 증가하여 Ni-20Cr합금의 경우 2시간이상 어닐링에도 재결정이 일어나지 않았다. $800^{\circ}C$ 어닐링 시 10분 어닐링 조건에서 4종류 합금 모두 재결정이 완료되었으며, 동일한 어닐링 조건에서 Cr함량이 증가할수록 결정립이 작아지는 것으로 나타났다. $800^{\circ}C$ 2시간 어닐링 조건에서 Ni-5Cr 합금의 주요 집합조직은 {223}<113>과 {122}<112>로 나타났으며, 이중 {223}<113>은Cr 함량이 증가함에 따라 점차 {122}<112>에 가까운 방향으로 변화되어 Ni-20Cr 합금의 경우 {123}<112>만이 형성되었다. 이러한 집합조직의 변화는 적층결함에너지 감소에 의한 ${\Sigma}3$ 입계의 분율 증가와 밀접한 관련이 있는 것으로 사료된다.

Structural Properties of Ammoniated Thin Cr Films with Oxygen Incorporated During Deposition (산소가 혼입된 Cr 박막의 질화처리에 따른 구조적 특성)

  • Metallic Cr film coatings of $1.2{\mu}m$ thickness were prepared by DC magnetron sputter deposition method on c-plane sapphire substrates. The thin Cr films were ammoniated during horizontal furnace thermal annealing for 10-240 min in $NH_3$ gas flow conditions between 400 and $900^{\circ}C$. After annealing, changes in the crystal phase and chemical constituents of the films were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and energy dispersive X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) surface analysis. Nitridation of the metallic Cr films begins at $500^{\circ}C$ and with further increases in annealing temperature not only chromium nitrides ($Cr_2N$ and CrN) but also chromium oxide ($Cr_2O_3$) was detected. The oxygen in the films originated from contamination during the film formation. With further increase of temperature above $800^{\circ}C$, the nitrogen species were sufficiently supplied to the film's surface and transformed to the single-phase of CrN. However, the CrN phase was only available in a very small process window owing to the oxygen contamination during the sputter deposition. From the XPS analysis, the atomic concentration of oxygen in the as-deposited film was about 40 at% and decreased to the value of 15 at% with increase in annealing temperature up to $900^{\circ}C$, while the nitrogen concentration was increased to 42 at%.

Analysis of a.c. Characteristics in ZnO-Bi2O3Cr2O3 Varistor using Dielectric Functions (유전함수를 이용한 ZnO-Bi2O3Cr2O3 바리스터의 a.c. 특성 분석)

  • In this study, we have investigated the effects of Cr dopant on the bulk trap levels and grain boundary characteristics of $Bi_2O_3$-based ZnO (ZB) varistor using admittance spectroscopy and dielectric functions (such as $Z^*,\;Y^*,\;M^*,\;{\varepsilon}^*$, and $tan{\delta}$). Admittance spectra show more than two bulk traps of $Zn_i$ and $V_o$ probably in different ionization states in ZnO-$Bi_2O_3-Cr_2O_3$ (ZBCr) system. Three kinds of temperature-dependant activation energies ($E_{bt}'s$) were calculated as 0.11~0.14 eV of attractive coulombic center, 0.16~0.17 eV of $Zn_{\ddot{i}}$, and 0.33 eV of $V_o^{\cdot}$ as dominant bulk defects. The grain boundaries of ZBCr could be electrochemically divided into two types as a sensitive to ambient oxygen i.e. electrically active one and an oxygen-insensitive i.e. electrically inactive one. The grain boundaries were electrically single type under 460 K (equivalent circuit as parallel $R_{gb1}C_{gb1}$) but separated as double one ($R_{gb1}C_{gb1}-R_{gb2}C_{gb2}$) over 480 K. It is revealed that the dielectric functions are very useful tool to separate the overlapped bulk defect levels and to characterize the electrical properties of grain boundaries.

  • The electrical properties of ZnO-$Pr_6O_{11}$-CoO-$Cr_2O_3-La_2O_3$ based varistors were investigated with sintering temperature in the range of $1240\sim1300^{\circ}C$. The varistors sintered at $1240\sim1260^{\circ}C$ exhibited high density, which was 5.50- $5.70g/cm^3$ corresponding to 95.2~98.6% of theoretical density. The varistor voltage was decreased in range of 718.47~108.00 V/mm with increasing sintering temperarture. The varistors sintered at $1240\sim1260^{\circ}C$ exhibited good electrical properties, in which the nonlinear exponent is in the range of 79.25~49.22 and leakage current is in the range of 0.26~$1.00 {\mu}A$ In particular, the varistor sintered at $1240^{\circ}C$ showed very excellent electrical properties, in which the nonlinear exponent is 79.25 and leakage current is $0.26{\mu}A$

Property Analysis of Solar Selective Coatings (태양 선택흡수막의 특성 분석)

  • The chemical composition of the black Cr solar selective coatings electrodeposited were investigated for property analysis by using a XPS(X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy) before and after annealing in air at $300^{\circ}C{\sim}500^{\circ}C$ for 120 hours. Black Cr selective coating exposed by solar radiation for 5 months was compared with annealed sample. In addition, The Cu solar selective coatings were prepared by thermal oxidation method for low temperature application. The samples obtained were characterized by using the optical reflectance measurements by using a spectrometer. Optical properties of oxidized Cu solar coatings were solar absorptance $({\alpha}){\simeq}0.62$ and thermal emittance $({\epsilon}){\simeq}0.41(100^{\circ}C)$. In the as-prepared Cr black selective coating, the surface of the coating was found to have Cr hydroxide and Cr. The Cr hydroxide of the major component was converted to $Cr_2O_3$ or $CrO_3$ form after annealing at $500^{\circ}C$ with the desorption of water molecules. The black Cr selective coating was degraded significantly at temperature of $500^{\circ}C$. The main optical degradation modes of this coating were diffusion of Cu substrate materials.

High-temperature Oxidation of the TiAlCrSiN Film Deposited on the Cemented Hard Carbide

  • The TiAlCrSiN film was deposited on the WC-20%TiC-10%Co carbide, and its oxidation behavior was examined at $700-1000^{\circ}C$. It displayed relatively good oxidation resistance owing to the formation of $TiO_2$, $Al_2O_3$, $Cr_2O_3$, and $SiO_2$ up to $900^{\circ}C$. However, at $1000^{\circ}C$, the fast oxidation rate and partial oxidation of WC in the substrate led to the formation of the thick, fragile oxide scale.
