Characterization Studies for the Selective Catalytic Oxidation of Ammonia Utilizing Ce/TiO2 Catalyst (Ce/TiO2 촉매를 이용한 암모니아의 선택적 산화반응 특성 연구)

  • In this study, selective catalytic oxidation (SCO) of $NH_3$ using $Ce/TiO_2$ catalyst was examined to control the slipped NH3 from various pollutants. It was found that the catalytic activity increased with increasing the Ce loadings till reaching 10 wt% Ce loading. However, when Ce loaded over 10 wt%, the activity of catalysts rather decreased than that of catalysts, below 10 wt% Ce. Therefore, the composition of $Ce/TiO_2$ catalyst optimized in this study can be applied to industrial fields.

  • Sintering behavior and electrical properties of CeO$_2$ system were investigated as a function of the amount of Gd:$_2$O$_3$, and Sm$_2$O$_3$, addition. Doped CeO$_2$ consisted of a homogeneous solid solution of the cubic fluorite structure within the amount of addition from 0 mol% to 15 mol%. Grain growth rate of Gd$_2$O$_3$-doped CeO$_2$ was much smaller than that of pure CeO$_2$, while densification rate was considerably larger. Thus doped CeO$_2$ showed a higher density than pure CeO$_2$. The electrical conductivity of Ce$_1$-$_{x}$Sm$_{x}$O$_1$-$_{x}$/2 was increased up to x = 0.2. However, with further increasing dopant concentrations, the magnitude of the conductivity was found to decrease remarkably. The ionic conductivity value obtained at $700^{\circ}C$ for 10 mol% Sm$_2$O$_3$-doped CeO$_2$ electrolyte was 4.6${\times}$10$^{-2}$ S$.$$cm^{-1}$ /.EX> /.

  • A novel $Ce^{3+}$ doped $(Ce_xLu_{1-x})_3MgAl_3SiO_{12}$ phosphor was successfully synthesized by a conventional solid-state reaction. Heat-treatment temperature was controlled from 1250 to $1550^{\circ}C$ for 5 h. XRD and PL properties were analyzed for the optimum heat-treatment condition. Ce doping concentration was varied from 2.0 to 10.0 mol% for the optimum Ce doping concentration. The PL intensity, peak wavelength and FWHM were calculated with the Ce doping concentration, and evaluated for the application to LED packaging. Particle size and morphology were also characterized for synthesized phosphor sample at optimum heat-temperature and Ce doping concentration.

THE PARTIAL COMBUSTION OF METHANE TO SYNGAS OVER PRECIOUS METALS AND NICKEL CATALYSTS SUPPORTED ON -γAL2O3 AND CEO2

  • The catalytic activity of precious metals(Rh, Pd, Pt) and nickel catalysts supported on ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3\;and\;CeO_2$ in the partial combustion of methane(PCM) to syngas was investigated based on the product distribution in a fixed bed now reactor under atmospheric condition and also on analysis results by SEM, XPS, TPD, BET, and XRD. The activity of the catalysts based on the syngas yield increased in the sequence $Rh(5)/CeO_2{\geq}Ni(5)/CeO_2>>Rh(5)/Al_2O_3>Pd(5)/Al_2O_3>Ni(5)/Al_2O_3$. Compared to the precious catalysts, the syngas yield and stability of the $Ni(5)/CeO_2$ catalyst were almost similar to $(5)/CeO_2$ catalyst, and superior to these of any other catalysts. The syngas yield of $Ni(5)/CeO_2$ catalyst was 90.66% at 1023 K. It could be suggested to be the redox cycle of the successive reaction and formation of active site, $Ni^{2-}$ and the lattice oxygen, $O^{2-}$ produced due to reduction of $Ce^{4-}$ to $Ce^{3-}$.

  • 3Y-TZP, 12Ce-TZP 및 3Y-TZP, 12Ce-TZP 현탁액의 제타포텐셜과 겉보기점도의 측정으로부터 슬립주입공정에 의한 다층복합체의 제조조건을 조사하였다. 아울러 다층복합체의 소결밀도, 미세구조, 결정상에 미치는 열처리의 영향을 검토하였다. 3Y-TZP와 12Ce-TZP 현탁액의 등전점을 pH 8부근이었으나 3Y-TZP/12Ce-TZP의 등전점은 pH8.6이었다. 현탁액은 전단속도의 증가와 더불어 점도가 감소하는 의가소성유동을 나타내었다. 15 및 20vol% 고체함량을 갖는 3Y-TZP와 3Y-TZP/12Ce-TZP 현탁액은 소량(0.3wt%)의 유기해교제의 첨가만으로 슬립주입에 적당한 유동성을 보유하였으나, 12Ce-TZP의 경우는 점도를 감소시키기 위하여 부가적인 전해질이 필요하였다. 이론밀도의 98% 이상을 보유하고 0.3~$2.2\mu\textrm{m}$의 입경을 갖는 치밀한 다층복합체가$ 1500^{\circ}C$ 소결로 얻어졌다.

MDA Assessment of NaI(Tl), LaBr3(Ce), and CeBr3 Detectors for Freshly Deposited Radionuclides on the Soil (지표면 침적 방사성핵종에 대한 NaI(Tl), LaBr3(Ce) 및 CeBr3 검출기의 MDA 비교 평가)

  • The detection performances of the NaI(Tl), $LaBr_3$(Ce) and $CeBr_3$ scintillation detectors, which can be used to rapidly evaluate the major artificial radionuclides deposited on the soil surface in a nuclear accident or radiological emergency, were compared. Detection performance was assessed by calculating the minimum detectable activity (MDA). The detection efficiency of each detector for artificial radionuclides was semi-empirically determined using mathematical modelling and point-like sources having certified radioactivity. The background gamma-ray energy spectrum for MDA evaluation was obtained from relatively wide and flat grassland, and the MDA values of each detector for the major artificial radionuclides that could be released in nuclear accidents were calculated. As a result, the relative MDA values of each detector regarding surface deposition distribution at normal environmental radiation level were evaluated as high in the order of the NaI(Tl), $LaBr_3$(Ce), and $CeBr_3$ detectors. These results were compared based on each detector's intrinsic and measurement environment background, detection efficiency, and energy resolution for the gamma-ray energy region of the radionuclide of interest.

  • [ $Pt/CeO_2$ ] 촉매에 Zr을 첨가하여 우수한 저온 수성가스전화반응의 활성을 가진 촉매를 만들었다. $Pt/ZrO_2-CeO_2$ 촉매는 $Pt/ZrO_2$$Pt/CeO_2$ 촉매에 비해 Ce와 Zr의 상호작용에 의한 시너지 효과로 인해 CO chemisorption으로 측정한 Pt area가 증가하고 담체에 Pt가 잘 분산되었다. 또한, Zr이 첨가된 $Pt/CeO_2$는 Ce의 redox 능력을 향상시켜 support의 reducibility를 향상시켰다. 담체에 고르게 잘 분산되고 support의 산소저장능력과 reducibility가 향상된 $3\;wt\%\;Pt/ZrO_2-CeO_2$ 촉매들은 반응물에 수소와 이산화탄소의 첨가 유무와 상관없이 $3\;wt\%\;Pt/ZrO_2$$3\;wt\%\;Pt/CeO_2$ 촉매보다 우수한 활성을 보였다.

Mechanical Properties of $Zr(Y,Ce)O_2$ TZP After Aging in Hydrothermal Conditon ($Zr(Y,Ce)O_2$ TZP의 수열분위기 시효후의 기계적 성질)

  • Zr(Y,Ce)O2 TZP ceramics were prepared by sintering compacts of 3 mol% Y2O3-TZP(3Y-TZP) powders with different amount of 12 mol% CeO2-TZP(12Ce-TZP) in air at 140$0^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. The phase changes microstructure and mechanical properties of Zr(Y. Ce)O2 TZP after hydrothermal aging(20$0^{\circ}C$ 5h) were investigated. Although an addition of 12Ce-TZP accelerated the grain growth of Zr(Y, Ce)O2 TZP it restrained the transformation of tetragonal to the monoclinic phase during aging. The degradation in mechanical properties of sintered bodies was governed by the formed monoclinic phase and chemical composition. Induced Vickers indentation crack was propagated intergranually. From SEM observation of the fracture surfaces the pull-out of individual grain was confirmed.

SC 제염용액에서 $Ce^{4+}/Ce^{3+}$이온쌍의 산화환원 특성 연구

  • 방사성 금속폐기물을 재활용하기 위한 제염기술로서 SC ( Sulfuric acid - Cerium) 제염의 기본특성을 파악하기 위해 Ce$^{4+}$ Ce$^{3+}$ 이온쌍의 산화환원 특성을 cyclic voltammetry 방법으로 연구하였다. 황산용액 내에서 Ce$^{4+}$ Ce$^{3+}$ 이온쌍의 산화환원 특성 조사를 위해서는 백금전극이 효과적이었다. 이중 실린더형 전해셀의 백금전극에서 Ce$^{4+}$ Ce$^{3+}$ 이온쌍의 산화환원에 대한 전달계수, 확산계수 및 비균일 속도상수 둥을 구하였으며, 각각 0,63 $\pm$ 0.05, (2.09$\pm$0.49) x $10^{-5}$ $\textrm{cm}^2$/sec 및 (2.53 $\pm$ 1.33) * $10^{-4}$ cm/sec 의 값을 나타내었다.

Magnetization characteristics of melt-textured Y-Ba-Cu-O with BaCe$O_{3}$ addition (용융공정으로 제조한 Y-Ba-Cu-O/BaCe$O_{3}$ 초전도체의 자화특성)

  • BaCe$O_{3}$를 첨가하여 용융공정으로 제조한 단결정형 Y$Ba_{2}$$Cu_{3}$$O_{x}$(1-2-3) 초전도체의 온도에 대한 자화특성을 연구하였다. 고상반응법과 용융공정으로 0에서 30wt% BaCe$O_{3}$를 1-2-3 결정내에 미세 분산시켰다. 초전도체의 자화특성은 VSM(vibrating sample magnetometer)을 사용하여 77K, 60K, 40K와 20K, 2 Tesla 자장범위에서 측정하였다. BaCe$O_{3}$를 첨가하지 않은 겨우나 5wt% BaCe$O_{3}$를 첨가한 1-2-3 결정의 경우, 77K, 외부자장이 증가시 자화율 차이가 증가하는 비정상 자화특성이 관찰된다. 측정온도가 60K에서는 제2차 최대점이 나타나는 자장값이 고자장쪽으로 이동한다. 20K와 40K의 저온에서는 비정상자화특성이 2 T의 자장범위까지 관찰되지 않았다. 15wt%와 20wt% BaCe$O_{3}$첨가한 시편에서는 자장이 증가하면 자화율차이가 단순히 감소한다. Y-Ba-Cu-O의 flux pinning 기구를 BaCe$O_{3}$첨가에 의한 미세조직변화로 설명하였다.
