Effect of $M_2O_3$ on the Sinterbility and Electrical Conductivity of $ZrO_2(Y_2O_3)$ System (I): Ceramics of the:$ZrO_2-Y_2O_3-Bi_2O_3$ System ($ZrO_2(Y_2O_3)$ 계 세라믹스의 소결성과 전기전도도에 대한 $M_2O_3$의 영향 (I):$ZrO_2-Y_2O_3-Bi_2O_3$계 세라믹스)

  • Yttria-bismuth-stabilized zirconia was investigated with respect to the amount of $Bi_2O_3$ addition in the ran-ge of 0.5~5mol% to the base composition of $(ZrO_2)_{0.92}(Y_2O_3)_{0.08}.Bismuth was introduced into the ma-terial with $Bi_2O_3-SiO_2$ glasses in order to reduce the evaporation of components. The sinterbility evaporation of components phase formation and microstructure were evaluated depending on the amount of $Bi_2O_3-SiO_2$ glass addition. Two probe A. C conductivity measurement was subjected to all the specimens and the result was discussed on the possible substitution of $Bi^{3+}$ for $Zr^{4+}$ and interistial $Si^{4+}$ in the fluorite structure of zirconia crystal there-upon the possible change in the capability of oxygen transference within the material. It was found that the addition of $Bi_2O_3$ could improve the sinterbility of material very much while not so much.oxygen sensing material suitable for relative low temperature firing.

Microstructure of $SrBi_2(Ta,Nb)_2O_9$ Thin Films on $SrTiO_3$(001) Single Crystal ($SrTiO_3$(001) 단결정 위에 제조된 $SrBi_2(Ta,Nb)_2O_9$ 박막의 미세구조)

  • SrTi $O_3$(001) 단결정 기판 위에 졸-겔 스핀코팅으로 $SrBi_2(Ta,Nb)_2O_9$ 박막을 도포하고 그 결정화 과정을 고온 X-선 회절분석 (HTXRD)으로 추적하면서 Pt(111)/Ti/ $SiO_2$/Si 위에 성장한 박막과 비교하였다. SrTi $O_3$(001) 단결정 기판 위에 도포된 $SrBi_2Nb_2O_{9}$ 박막은 fluorite-like phase와 같은 transient phase를 거치지 않고 곧바로 순수한 $SrBi_2Nb_2O_9$ 상으로 결정화가 시작되었으며 결정화가 시작되는 온도인 ${\sim}540^{\circ}C$부터 c축 배향성장하였다. 또한 $SrB i_2(Ta,Nb)_2O_9$ 박막은 Ta/Nb 비에 관계없이 $SrTiO_3$(001) 위에서 모두 $(00{\ell})$로 배향되었으며, 코팅 횟수가 늘어나 필름의 두께가 증가함에 따라 c축 배향성은 미세한 감소를 보였다. $SrBi_2Nb_2O_9/SrTiO_3$단면을 TEM으로 관찰한 결과 $SrBi_2Nb_2O_9$은 대체로 불규칙한 크기의 다결정체로 되어 있었으나 계면 부근에서는 [001]$_{SBN}$//[001]$_{SrTi}$ $O_3$/, [100]$_{SBN}$//[100]$_{SrTi}$ $O_3$/라는 결정학적 관계를 가지며 에피탁샬 성장했음을 알 수 있었다.있었다.

The Complexing Effect of $BaTiO_3\;for\;Bi_4Ti_3O_{12}$ on Layered Perovskite $Bi_4Ti_3O_{12}{\cdot}nBaTiO_3(n=1&2)$ Thin Films ($Bi_4Ti_3O_{12}{\cdot}nBaTiO_3(n=1&2)$ 박막에서 $Bi_4Ti_3O_{12}$ 에 대한 $BaTiO_3$의 복합효과)

  • Thin films of $Bi_4Ti_3O_{12}\;nBaTiO_3(n=1&2)$ were prepared using sols erived Ba-Bi-Ti complex alkoxides. The sols were spin-cast onto $Pt/Ti/SiO_2/Si$ substrates and followed by pyrolysis for 1 hr at $620^{\circ}C,\;700^{\circ}C\;and\;750^{\circ}C$ In the thin films a pyrochlore phase seemed to be formed at a lower temperature and then tran-formed to the layered perovskite phase as the heating temperature increased. In the thin films pyrolyzed at formed to the layered perovskte phase as the heating temperature increased. In the films pyrolyzed at $750^{\circ}C$ the amount of $Bi_4Ti_3O_{12}{\cdot}BaTiO_3$ reached to 94% while $Bi_4Ti_3O_{12}{\cdot}BaTiO_3$ was 77% in composition. This result shows that the formation of the layered pervoskite phase becomes difficult as the amount of complexing $BaTiO_3$ increases. The microstructures and the electrical properties of the thin films were gen-erally improved with the incease of the heating temperature. However the presence of the pyrochlore phase could not be removed effectively. Our study showed that the electrical properties of $Bi_4Ti_3O_{12}{\cdot}BaTiO_3$ were pronouncedly improved with complexing with BaTiO3 when compared to those of $Bi_4Ti_3O_{12}$ while the presence of the pyrochlore phase was detrimental to the those of $Bi_4Ti_3O_{12}{\cdot}2BaTiO_3$.

  • Vanadate glass in the $LiO_2-P_2O_5-Bi_2O_3-V_2O_5$ system containing 10mol% glass fonner, $P_2O_5$ and $Bi_2O_3$ was prepared by melting the batch in pt. crucible followed by Quenching on the copper plate. We found that $LiO_2-P_2O_5-Bi_2O_3-V_2O_5$ glass-ceramics obtained from nucleation of glass showed signifieantly higher capacity and longer cycle life than conventionally made crystalline $LiV_3O_{8}$. In the present paper, we describe the charge / discharge properties during crystallization process and find the best crystallization condition of $LiO_2-P_2O_5-Bi_2O_3-V_2O_5$ glass as cathod material.

Role of the $Bi_2O_3\;in\;SrBi_2TaNbO_9/Bi_2O_3/SrBi_2TaNbO_9$ Heterostructure and Low Temperature Annealing Property

  • Ferroelectric properties of $SrBi_2TaNbO_9$ (SBTN) thin films were changed by the amount of Bi content in SBTN. We suggested that the addition of excess Bi into the films could be accomplished by heat-treating $SBTN/Bi_2O_3/SBTN$ heterostructure fabricated by r.f. magnetron sputtering method. Excess Bi composition was controlled by the thickness of the sandwiched $Bi_2O_3$ from 0 to $400\;\AA$. When the SBTN thin films were inserted by $400\;{\AA}\;Bi_2O_3$ layer, $Bi_2Pt$ phase was formed as a second phase in SBTN films, resulting in poor ferroelectric properties. The onset temperature for hysteresis loop can be reduced by heat treating $SBTN/Bi_2O_3/SBTN$ heterostructure. The films with $SBTN/Bi_2O_3(100\;{\AA})/SBTN$ hetero-structure followed by annealing at $650^{\circ}C$ for 30 min show 2Pr and Ec of $5.66\;{\mu}C/\textrm{cm}^2$ and 54 kV/cm, respectively.

Effect of $Zn_7Sb_2O_{12}$ Content on Grain Growth and Microstructure of ZnO Varistor ($Zn_7Sb_2O_{12}$ 첨가량이 ZnO 바리스터의 입자성장과 미세구조에 미치는 영향)

  • Sintering behavior and microstructure development in the system ZnO-Bi2O3-CoO-Zn7Sb2O12 with Zn7Sb2O12 content(0.1mol%~2mol%) were studied. The pyrochlore phase was formed by the reaction of the Zn7Sb2O12 with Bi2O3 phase during heating (below 90$0^{\circ}C$). The formation temperature of the liquid phase (Bi2O3) was dependent on the Zn7Sb2O12 contents (about 74$0^{\circ}C$ for Bi2O3/Zn7Sb2O12>1 by the eutectic melting in the ZnOBi2O3 system, and about 110$0^{\circ}C$ for Bi2O3/Zn7Sb2O12 1 by the decomposition of pyrochlore phase). Hence, sintering behavior and microstructure development were determined virtually by the Bi2O3/Zn7Sb2O12 ratio, which were promoted by liquid (Bi2O3) phase and retarded by the pyrochlore (or spinel) phase. The grain growth of ZnO during sintering was sluggish with increasing Zn7Sb2O12 contents.

Electrical Switching Effects in the Sintered $Fe_2O_3$-$Bi_2O_3$ ($Fe_2O_3$-$Bi_2O_3$ 소결체의 전기적 Switching 특성(I))

  • Electrical switching phenomenon was observed in the Fe2O3-Bi2O3 system for the sintering temperature range of 700$^{\circ}$~85$0^{\circ}C$ for DC conductivity measurements of these sinterd materials in the ambient temperature range of 30$^{\circ}$~20$0^{\circ}C$ have shown that the conductivity increases with increasing the sitering temperature and ambient temperature. The formation of the current channel and the experimental evidence of the dependence of switching threshold voltage on the ambient temperature, strongly indicates that the main electrical switching mechanism of sintered Fe2O3-Bi2O3 is thermal effect.

  • 주파수 무선센서에 의한 자동직경제어방식으로 쵸크랄스키법에 의해 Bi4Ge3O12 단결정을 육성하였다. Bi4Ge3O12의 화학양론적 조성으로부터 Bi2O3와 GeO2의 조성비를 변화시키면서 단결정을 육성하였다. 광학적인 투과도 조사결과, 화학양론적 조성에서 가장 우수한 투과도를 나타내었고 과잉의 Bi2O3에서는 투과도가 현저히 낮아졌다. 또한 육성된 단결정의 결함밀도는 ∼1×103/cm2이었다.

  • 본 연구는 $Bi_2O_3$, ZnO 및 $Nb_2O_5$로 이루어진 두 가지의 $Bi_2(Zn_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})_2O_7$$(Bi_{1.5}Zn_{0.5})(Zn_{0.5}Nb_{1.5})O_7$ pyrochlore를 제조한 후, ZBS 및 BZBS 유리를 각각 첨가하여 저온 소결 및 마이크로파 유전 특성을 고찰하였다. 두 가지의 pyrochlore에 대하여 하소 온도에 따른 상 합성 유무를 고찰한 결과 $900^{\circ}C$에서 단일 상을 갖는 pyrochlore를 제조할 수 있었다. 두 가지의 pyrochlore에 ZnO-rich ZBS 유리와 $Bi_2O_3$-rich BZBS 유리를 3, 5 wt%로 첨가한 후 $800{\sim}950^{\circ}C$에서 소결한 결과 ZBS 및 BZBS 유리를 5wt%를 첨가하였을 때 $900^{\circ}C$에서 소결이 가능하였다. 또한 마이크로파 유전 특성을 고찰한 결과, $(Bi_{1.5}Zn_{0.5})(Zn_{0.5}Nb_{1.5})O_7$의 pyrochlore는 고주파에서 유전 특성 측정이 되지 않았다. $Bi_2(Zn_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})_2O_7$의 pyrochlore의 경우 5 wt% ZBS 및 BZBS 유리를 첨가하여 $900^{\circ}C$에서 소결한 시편의 마이크로파 유전 특성은 ${\varepsilon}_r$= 62.8~68.3, $Q{\times}f$ value= 3,500~2,700 GHz을 나타내었다.

  • Reactions between Ag-Pd internal electrode materials and{{{{ { {Bi }_{2 }O }_{3 } }} in multilayer chip varistor were in-vestigated. For more than 1 mol%{{{{ { {Bi }_{2 }O }_{3 } }} in varistor composition internal electrode structure was destroyed due to the reaction between internal electrode and{{{{ { {Bi }_{2 }O }_{3 } }} But for typical varistor compositions (below 1 mol% of{{{{ { {Bi }_{2 }O }_{3 } }} content) microstructural changes around the internal electrode were not observed. However SEM-EDS and TEM-EDS analysis showed the uneven distribution of{{{{ { {Bi }_{2 }O }_{3 } }} in the internal electrode which was due to the migration of{{{{ { {Bi }_{2 }O }_{3 } }} to the electorde during sintering. As a results the nonlinear coefficient of multilayer varistor showed very large distribution as well as the breakdown voltage.
