플라즈마 용사 Al2O3 코팅의 특성에 미치는 CrO3 봉공처리의 영향 (Influence of CrO3 Sealing Treatment on Properties of Plasma Sprayed Al2O3 Coating)

  • Plasma sprayed ceramic coatings inherently contain pores and usually also cracks. Post-treatment of the plasma sprayed coatings is a way to close the connected pores and cracks. In this study, post-sealing treatment in plasma sprayed $Al_2O_3$ coatings was employed to overcome the reduction of coating properties. $Al_2O_3$ plasma thermal spray coating was made on aluminum alloys plate, $CrO_3$ post coating and heat treatment at $550^{\circ}C$ was carried out in order for final $Cr_2O_3$ to be saturated through phase transformation. Chromia sealing began at the fine defect in coated microstructure, while larger pores were permeated later. The increase in concentration and treatment frequency of sealing solution resulted in the decrease of porosity of coating layer, while cracks occurred partially after the third treatment. After twice treatment of 10M $CrO_3$ solution, microhardness and breakdown voltage of $Al_2O_3$ coatings were found to increase by ${\fallingdotseq}$ 50% and ${\fallingdotseq}$ 390% respectively than without post-treatment.

  • When ceramic membrance was made from metal salt solution in place of metal akoxide solution, crack free and good adhesion to supporter was optimized for sol stability and good adhesion force. A starting sol was prepared from aluminum oxychloride aqueous solutjion in order to inhibit the grain growthof Al2O3 during heat treatment. The crack free dip coating can't be achieved in 1mol/ι zirconium oxychloride solution because of the high viscosity which interferes with the hydration copolymerization between Al3+ ion and Zr4+ ion. Thus Al2O3-ZrO2 sol stability and viscosity for dip coating was effective when 0.01 mol/ι zirconium oxychloride was added. The minimizing of crack and achieving better adhesion to the supporter wa obtained by microwave drying, surfactant addition and ultrasonic dip coating in wet atmosphere. The result seems to minimize the capillary force and improve the adhesive ability to supporter during the process. Where the average pore size of Al2O3-ZrO2 ultrafilter ceramic membrane measured 17 Å by the BET method and observed γ-Al2O3 phase with tetragonal zirconia after firing at 700℃.

  • 가시광선영역에서 높은 광학적 투명도를 갖는 n-type 반도체인 ZnO 박막은 넓은 범위에서 응용되고 있다. 현재 ZnO 박막의 특성 향상을 위하여 여러 원소(Al, Ga)의 도핑을 시도하고 있다. 특히 Al-doped ZnO 박막은 sol-gel dip coating에 의해서도 높은 전기전도도와 투과율로 활발히 연구되고 있다 본 논문에서는 여러 도핑농도를 갖는 Al-doped ZnO 박막이 sol-gel dip coating법에 의해 준비되었다. Al-doped ZnO 박막은 zinc acetate [Zn($CH_3$COO$_2$)ㆍ2$H_2O$] powder 와 여러 도핑농도를 갖는 aluminum nitrate (Al(NO$_3$)$_3$ㆍ9$H_2O$) powder를 알코올에 용해하여 $H_2O$, Ethylene glycol, Ethylene diamine 등을 첨가하여 제조하였다 XRD와 SEM (Scanning electron microscope)이 막의 상형성 분석을 위해 이용되었으며, 가시광선 영역 투과율(UV/VIS spectrophotometer)과 표면전기저항(four point probe)이 주요 특성으로 분석되었다.

  • The sliding wear behavior of Plasma-Sprayed Al$_2$O$_3$-TiO$_2$ Coating against Cemented Carbide were Investigated using a pin on disk type tester. The experiment was conducted using Al$_2$O$_3$-TiO$_2$ Coaling as pin material and Cemented Carbide as disk material and different operating conditions, at room temperature under a dry conditions. The results showed that the type B(250kw power) appeared average wear rate Is lowed than type A(80kw power). The specific wear rate of Specimen A1 Increased with normal load. But The specific wear rate of Specimen B1 decreased with normal load. Average wear rate of specimen A3, B3 are lowed than other but the sliding wear mechanism of edge were rough.

  • The metal monolith catalyst coated with 15wt% Ni/$MgAl_2O_4$ is applied to the natural gas steam reforming for hydrogen production. To address the improvement of adherence between metal monolith and catalyst coating layer, the pre-calcination temperature as well as the coating conditions of $Al_2O_3$ sol are optimized. When the Fe-Cr alloy monolith is pre-calcined at $900^{\circ}C$ for 6 h, $Al_2O_3$ layer was formed uniformly on the entire surface of the metal substrate. It is seen that the formation of $Al_2O_3$ layer on the monolith surface is essential for the uniform coating of $Al_2O_3$ sol onto the monolith substrate. The monolith catalyst coated with 10wt% $Al_2O_3$ sol shows high $CH_4$ conversion and good thermal stability as compared with the monolith catalyst without $Al_2O_3$ sol coating under severe reaction conditions with high GHSV of 30,000 $h^{-1}$ at $700^{\circ}C$. In addition, the metal monolith catalyst shows higher catalytic activity and better thermal conductivity than 15wt% Ni/$MgAl_2O_4$ pellet catalyst.

금속표면에 비정질의 피복 (Dip Coating of Amorphous Materials on Metal Surface)

  • The properties of $Cr_2O_3-Al_2O_3-SiO_2$ composite oxide coatings on steel surface were investigated. The results obtained were as follows: The microhardness of oxide coating layer increased with increasing heat-treatment temperature and $Cr_2O_3$ content in coating layer. The hardness showed the highest value (850Hv) treated at 700$^{\circ}C$ for $SiO_2:Al_2O_3:Cr_2O_3$=1:1:4. Increasing heat-treatment temperature, corrosion current density became lower and coating layer became denser. The corrosion current density showed the lowest value $(6.5{\times}10^{-5}\;Acm^2)$ treated at 750$^{\circ}C\;for\;SiO_2:Al_2O_3:Cr_2O_3$=1:1:3. These results were explained by protective layer which was formed during heat-treatment. The bonding between matrix and coating layer is expected to be made mechanically and chemically by the inter diffusion of Ni and Fe. The composite oxide coating was formed by softening of the binder with increasing heat-treatment temperature. The strengthening of coating layer is to be resulted from the dispersion of major oxide particles.

  • The plasma spray technics has known as one of the surface modification methods to improve the mechenical properties or the functional charactristics of materials. This paper has been aimed to investigate the effects of plasma sprayed conditions, such as spray distance and arc power level, on sliding wear properties of plasma sprayed $Al_2$O$_3$-40%TiO$_2$coating layer. The sliding wear test using pin-on-disc type wear machine, has been conducted in several sliding speed for coating layer sparyed under different conditions. The result of this paper is that the wear resistance of plasma sprayed $Al_2$O$_3$-40%TiO$_2$coating layer is fluctuated with tile spray distance and the arc power level. The wear resiatance could be improved with decreasing the spray distance and with increasing the arc power level.

  • This study aims at investigating the wear properties of thermally sprayed $Al/Al_2O_3$ metal matrix composite(MMC) coating against different counterparts. $Al/Al_2O_3$ MMC coatings were fabricated using a flame spray system on an Al 6061 substrate. Dry sliding wear tests were performed using the sliding speeds of 0.2m/s and the applied loads of 1 and 2 N. AISI 52100, $Al_2O_3$, $Si_3N_4\;and\;ZrO_2$ balls(diameter: 8mm) were used as counterpart materials. Wear properties of $Al/Al_2O_3$ MMC coatings were analyzed using a scanning electron microscope(SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). It was revealed that wear properties of $Al/Al_2O_3$ composite coatings were much influenced by counterpart materials. In the case of AISI 52100 used as counterparts, the wear rate of composites coating layer increased according to the increase of the applied load. On the contrary, in the case of ceramics used as counterparts, the wear rate of composites coating layer decreased according to the increase of the applied load.

Surface Modification of a Li[Ni0.8Co0.15Al0.05]O2 Cathode using Li2SiO3 Solid Electrolyte

  • $Li_2SiO_3$ was used as a coating material to improve the electrochemical performance of $Li[Ni_{0.8}Co_{0.15}Al_{0.05}]O_2$. $Li_2SiO_3$ is not only a stable oxide but also an ionic conductor and can, therefore, facilitate the movement of lithium ions at the cathode/electrolyte interface. The surface of the $Li_2SiO_3$-coated $Li[Ni_{0.8}Co_{0.15}Al_{0.05}]O_2$ was covered with island-type $Li_2SiO_3$ particles, and the coating process did not affect the structural integrity of the $Li[Ni_{0.8}Co_{0.15}Al_{0.05}]O_2$ powder. The $Li_2SiO_3$ coating improved the discharge capacity and rate capability; moreover, the $Li_2SiO_3$-coated electrodes showed reduced impedance values. The surface of the lithium-ion battery cathode is typically attacked by the HF-containing electrolyte, which forms an undesired surface layer that hinders the movement of lithium ions and electrons. However, the $Li_2SiO_3$ coating layer can prevent the undesired side reactions between the cathode surface and the electrolyte, thus enhancing the rate capability and discharge capacity. The thermal stability of $Li[Ni_{0.8}Co_{0.15}Al_{0.05}]O_2$ was also improved by the $Li_2SiO_3$ coating.

Cu-5% Sn합금(合金)의 주조조직(鑄造組織)에 미치는 도형재(塗型材)의 영향(影響)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (Effect of Mold Coatings on the Macrostructures of Cu-5%Sn Alloy)

  • This study has been carried out to examine into wettability of Cu-5%Sn alloy in $Al_2O_3$, MgO, $SiO_2$ and graphite, respectively and investigated into the change in macrostructure of Cu-5%Sn alloy according to kind and mixing rate of mold-coating. The results obtained from the experiment are summerized as follows; 1. Cu Cu-5%Sn alloy, wettabilities of $Al_2O_3$ and MgO were good, on the other hand, wettabilities of $SiO_2$ and graphite were bad. 2. The fine equiaxed zone was created because of the role of $Al_2O_3$ and MgO as preferential nucleation sites. 3. Notwithstanding change of mixing rate of $SiO_2$ in mold coating the equixed zone was not created. 4. The area of equiaxed zone was varied according to mixing rate in the case of using $Al_2O_3$ and MgO in mold-coating.
