Dehydrocoupling of Bis(1-sila-3-butyl)benzene and 2-Phenyl-1,3-disilapropane to Polymers Using Zirconocene Combination Catalysts

  • The catalytic dehydrocoupling of bis(1-sila-3-butyl)benzene 1 and 2-phenyl-1,3-disilapropane 2 by $Cp_2ZrCl_2$/Red-Al and $Cp_2ZrCl_2$/n-BuLi was reported to compare their catalytic efficiency. The dehydrocoupling of monomeric silanes 1 with the $Cp_2ZrCl_2$/Red-Al and $Cp_2ZrCl_2$/n-BuLi combination catalysts produced two phases of polymers: one is a highly cross-linked insoluble solid, and the other is noncross-linked or slightly cross-linked soluble oil and could be a precursor for the solid polymer. The dehydrocoupling of 2 with the $Cp_2ZrCl_2$/n-BuLi combination catalyst similarly produced two phases of polymers. By contrast, the catalytic reaction of 2 with the $Cp_2ZrCl_2$/Red-Al combination catalyst produced a soluble polymer via redistribution/dehydrocoupling process.

  • The presence of chloride (Cl-) ions in environments causes localized corrosion resulting decrease the durability of the structures. In this study, 5% Mg containing Al alloys (Al-5Mg) wire used vis-à-vis compared its corrosion resistance with pure Al in 3.5wt.% NaCl solution with exposure periods. Initially both wires exhibited identical open circuit potential (OCP) attributed to the presence of native oxide film on the surface but with the exposure periods it shifted towards active direction owing to the dissolution of oxide film. The pure Al continuously shifted the OCP towards active direction while Al-5Mg shows stabilization of OCP after 8 days of exposure. The OCP of Al-5Mg is slightly higher compared to pure Al wire owing to the activeness of Mg. The total impedance of the Al-5Mg alloy is almost three times greater than pure Al with exposure periods in 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution. It might be formation of Al-Mg LDH (layered double hydroxide) thin film onto the surface.

  • [ $SrAl_2O_4:Eu^{2+},\;Dy^{3+}$ ] phosphor was synthesized using the impregnation method, and its photoluminescence and long-afterglow properties were investigated, A mixture of $Sr(NO_3)_2,\;Al(NO_3)_2\;9H_2O,\;EuCl_3\;6H_2O,\;DyCl_3\;6H_2O,\;NdCl_3\;6H_2O$ salts were dissolved in distilled water and impregnating into the polymer precursor. After drying, the impregnated mixture was heat treated at $900-1400^{\circ}C$ for 2h in a $N_2-H_2$ reduction atmosphere. The microstructure and crystal structure of the $SrAl_2O_4:Eu^{2+},\;Dy^{3+}$ powders were examined by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction, respectively. The photoluminescence spectra showed an excitation band along over wide wavelength of 250-450nm, and a broaden emission with a maxima peak at 360nm. In addition, the spectra also showed a good long after glow that decayed over a 1000sec period after 10 min excitation illumination.

  • The corrosion of steel rebar embedded in the coastal areas is corroding once the chloride ions ingress through the pores of the concrete. Therefore, in the present study, a 100 ㎛ thick Al and Zn coating was deposited by an arc thermal spray process onto the steel. The corrosion studies of these deposited coatings were assessed in 3.5 wt.% NaCl contaminated concrete pore (CP) solution with immersion periods. The results show that the Al coating is more corrosion resistance compared to the Zn coating attributed to the formation of gibbsite (γ-Al(OH)3) whereas Zn coating exhibits Zn(OH)2 onto the coating surface as passive layer. The Zn(OH)2 is readily soluble in an alkaline solution. Alternatively, γ-Al(OH)3 on the Al coating surface is less solubility in the alkaline pH, which further provides barrier protection against corrosion.

  • 금속알루미늄 조각과 alcohols을 반응시켜 Al-alkoxides를 합성하였으며 이것을 가수분해하여 얻은 Al-hydroxides와 시약 AlCl3로부터 얻은 Al-hydroxides를 여러 온도에서 소성하여 여러 상의 고순도 $Al_2O_3$를 제조하였다. 제조한 ${\gamma}$${\eta}$상 알루미나의 촉매적 특성을 알아보았고, $Al(OH)_3$로부터 ${\alpha}-Al_2O_3$의 생성과정을 속도론적으로 고찰하였다.

일상 생활용수 내 Zn-Al-Mg계 합금도금강재의 부식거동 (Corrosion Behavior of Zn-Al-Mg Alloy Coated Steel Exposed to Residential Water)

  • The objective of this study was to evaluate corrosion resistance of Zn-Al-Mg alloy coated steel in residential water with trace quantities of Cl-. Comparative evaluations were performed using two commercial coated steel products, GI and Galvalume, as reference samples. Examination of corrosion morphology and measurement of weight loss revealed that the Zn-Al-Mg alloy coated steel exhibited higher corrosion resistance than reference samples. This finding suggests that the alloy coated steel possesses long-term corrosion resistance not only in highly Cl- concentrated environments such as seawater, but also in environments with extremely low levels of Cl- found in residential water. The primary factor contributing to the superior corrosion resistance of the Zn-Al-Mg alloy coated steel in residential water is the formation of an inhibiting corrosion product composed primarily of two phases: Zn5(OH)6(CO3)2 and Zn5(OH)8Cl2·H2O. The preferential dissolution of Mg from the corroded coating layer can increase alkalinity, which might enhance the thermodynamical stability of Zn5(OH)6(CO3)2.

  • $Li/SO_2Cl_2$ 전지의 양극활물질은 $SO_2Cl_2$인데 이 물질은 전해액의 용매이기도 하다. 이를 일컬어 catholyte (cathode와 electrolyte의 합성어)라 칭하는데 전지의 방전이 진행됨에 따라 소진된다. 따라서 전지 제작 시 투입되는 $SO_2Cl_2$의 특성은 전지의 용량을 결정하는 중요 변수이다. 또한, $Li/SO_2Cl_2$ 전지의 transition minimum voltage (TMV)와 전압지연 편차는 전해액과 리튬의 반응에 의하여 형성된 부동화 막과 관련되는데 이 부동화 막은 전해액 내 불순물(수분 또는 중금속 이온)이 있을 경우 이의 성장이 촉진된다. 따라서 전해액을 정제시키는 기술과 이를 평가하는 방법의 정립은 반드시 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 $LiAlCl_4/SO_2Cl_2$전해액을 $AlCl_3$와 LiCl을 이용하여 제조하였고 제조된 전해액을 이온전도도계와 색도계 및 FT-IR을 이용하여 농도와 수분, 금속함량 등을 평가하였다.

  • Magnesium (Mg) deposition and dissolution behaviors of 0.2 M $MgBu_2-(AlCl_2Et)_2$, 0.5 M $Mg(ClO_4)_2$, and 0.4M $(PhMgCl)_2-AlCl_3$-based electrolytes with and without tris(pentafluorophenyl) borane (TPFPB) are investigated by ex situ scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and galvanostatic cycling of Mg/copper (Cu) cells. To ascertain the factors responsible for the anodic stability of the electrolytes, linear sweep voltammogrametry (LSV) experiments for various electrolytes and solvents are conducted. The effects of TPFPB as an additive on the anodic stability of 0.4M ($(PhMgCl)_2-AlCl_3$/THF electrolyte are also discussed.

TFT-LCD bus line을 위한 Al-W 박막 특성에 관한 연구 (The characteristics of AlW thin film for TFT-LCD bus line)

  • TFT-LCD(thin film transistor-liquid crystal display) 패널의 데이터 배선 재료로 사용하기 위하여 AlW(3 wt%)의 Al합금 박막을 dc 마그네트론 스퍼터링 방법으로 유리 기판에 증착하여 열처리전과 열처리 후의 박막 특성을 조사하였다. 또한 TFT-LCD의 식각 공정상에서 발생할 수 있는 chemical attack에 대한 저항성을 확인하기 위하여 순환전압전류법(cyclic voltammetry)을 사용하여 Ag/AgCl 전극에 대한 ITO와 AlW alloy의 전극 전위를 측정하였다. 증착된 박막을 $350^{\circ}C$에서 20분간 열처리하였을 때 AlW 박막은 비저항이 감소하였고 약 $11\;{\mu\Omega}cm$의 다소 높은 비저항 특성을 보였다. 주사전자현미경(SEM)과 원자힘현미경(AFM)으로 표면을 분석한 결과 좋은 힐록방지 특성을 보임을 알 수 있었다. 순환전압전류법을 사용하여 측정한 Ag/AgCl 에 대한 ITO의 전극 전위은 약 -1.8V이었고, AlW alloy의 전위 전극은 W의 wt.%가 3% 이상이었을 때, ITO의 전극 전위보다 작게 나타났다. 따라서 측정된 특성 값을 볼 때 AlW(over 3 wt.%) 박막은 data bus line으로 사용할 수 있는 것으로 나타났다.
