AB INITIO CALCULATIONS OF STRONGLY CORRELATED ELECTRONS: ANTIFERROMAGNETIC GROUND STATE OF $UO_2$

  • We have performed the density functional theory calculations of $UO_2$ using the spin-polarized generalized gradient approximation (SP-GGA) and the SP-GGA+U approach. The SP-GGA+U approach correctly predicts the insulating electronic structure with antiferromagnetic ordering, but the SP-GGA calculations predict metallic behavior. The cohesive properties obtained from the SP-GGA+U calculations are in good agreement with the available experimental results and previous calculations. The spin-polarized local density of states shows that the antiferromagnetic ordering of $UO_2$ is governed by 5f orbitals of uranium ion. Our calculations demonstrate that the strong correlation of U 5f electrons should be taken into account for a reliable description of $UO_2$ physics.

근채류의 수축 및 건조속도식 (Drying and Shrinking Rate Equation of Root Vegetables)

  • 무우 및 고구마를 열풍건조하고 건조가 진행됨에 따라 표면적 변화를 측정하여 실험치와 잘 일치하는 건조수축식과 총괄적 건조 속도식을 구하였으며, 시료의 두께, 상대습도 및 풍속을 포함한 초기 건조속도의 함수관계 식을 구하였다. 건조속도 상수와 차수는 시료의 두께와 공기의 온도에 영향을 받았으며 일정한 건조 (d=4mm, $Ta=50^{\circ}C$, RH=10%, U=0.8m/s) 하에서 얻어진 총괄적 건조속도 식과 수축식은 무우는 $dx/dt=0.112{\times}10^{-2}{\cdot}A{\cdot}:(1-x)^{0.43}$, A=Ao(-0.480x+1)이었고, 고구마는 $dx/dt=0.115{\times}10^{-2}\;A(1-x)^{0.49}$, A=Ao(-0.368x+1)이었다. 또한 초기 건조속도의 변화는 시료의 두께, 상대습도, 및 풍속에 대해 무우는 $dx/dt=0.0648\;(RH)^{-0.31}\;(d)^{-0.75}\;(U)^{0.39}$이었고, 고구마는 $dx/dt=0.0547(RH)^{-0.28}\;(d)^{-0.63}\;(U)^{0.37}$이었다.

  • Determination of cholinesterase activity is a routine practice in many laboratories to detect the influence of cholinesterase inhibiting drugs such as organophosphate and carbamate insecticides. Among many different methods to determine the cholinesterase activity, the present method was the most recent, simple and accurate one for routine test in clinics. The results obtained in sera of human and the different species of animals by means of the present method were as follows: $5.76{\pm}1.12U/ml$ in human, $3.37{\pm}0.83U/ml$ in german shepherd, $0.61{\pm}0.18U/ml$ in rat, $14.91{\pm}3.10U/ml$ in mouse, $1.55{\pm}0.51U/ml$ in chicken, $0.28{\pm}0.11U/ml$ in slaughtered cattle and $0.50{\pm}0.10U/ml$ in slaughtered pig.

인공재배 버섯의 혈전분해효소 활성검색 (Screening of Fibrinolytic Activities from Cultured Mushrooms)

  • 인공재배 가능한 버섯 13종을 선정하여 균사체 배양 후 배양액 및 혈전분해활성을 검토한 결과 배양액에서는 0.00-0.16U 매우 낮았던 반면에 균사체의 혈전분해 활성은 0.00-0.48U로 배양액에 비하여 상대적으로 높은 활성을 보였다. 또한, 뽕나무 버섯의 건조 균체량은 6.50g/100mL로 다른 균체에 비하여 1.9-5.0배의 높은 생산력을 보여주었다. 인공 재배된 버섯 자실체(7종)의 혈전분해활성은 0.17-0.94U로 나타났으며 아위버섯 자실체의 혈전분해 활성이 가장 높게 나타났다.

ANALYTIC SMOOTHING EFFECT AND SINGLE POINT SINGULARITY FOR THE NONLINEAR SCHRODINGER EQUATIONS

  • We show that a weak solution of the Cauchy problem for he nonlinear Schrodinger equation, {i∂(sub)t u + ∂$^2$(sub)x u = f(u,u), t∈(-T,T), x∈R, u(0,x) = ø(x).} in the negative solbolev space H(sup)s has a smoothing effect up to real analyticity if the initial data only have a single point singularity such as the Dirac delta measure. It is shown that for H(sup)s (R)(s>-3/4) data satisfying the condition (※Equations, See Full-text) the solution is analytic in both space and time variable. The argument is based on the recent progress on the well-posedness result by Bourgain [2] and Kenig-Ponce-Vega [18] and previous work by Kato-Ogawa [12]. We give an improved new argument in the regularity argument.

  • The aim of the present paper is to introduce the concept "Finite dimension" in the theory of associative rings R with respect to two sided ideals. We obtain that if R has finite dimension on two sided ideals, then there exist uniform ideals $U_1,U_2,\ldots,U_n$ of R whose sum is direct and essential in R. The number n is independent of the choice of the uniform ideals $U_i$ and 'n' is called the dimension of R.
