Evaluation of Dosimetry and Image of Very Low Dose CT Attenuation Correction for Pediatric PET/CT: Phantom Study (팬텀을 이용한 소아 PET/CT 검사 시 감쇄보정 CT 선량과 영상 평가)

  • Purpose: To evaluate the dosimetry and image of very low does CT attenuation correction for phantom using pediatric PET/CT. Materials and methods: three PET / CT scanners (Discovery STe, BiographTruepoint 40, Discovery 600) as a child-size acrylic phantom and ion chamber dosimeter (Unfous Xi CT, Sweden) using a CT image acquisition parameters (10, 20, 40, 80, 100, 160 mA; 80, 100, 120, 140 kVp) by varying the depth dose and evaluate $CTDI_{vol}$ value. And each attenuation corrected PET/CT images used NEMA PET Phantom$^{TM}$ (NU2-1994) was evaluated by SUV. Results: Abdominal diagnosis CT dose in general pediatric (about 10 ages) parameter (100 kVp, 100 mA) than very low dose CT parameter (80 kVp, 10 mA) at the depth dose was reduced approximately 92%, $CTDI_{vol}$ was reduced to about 88%. Each CT attenuation corrected parameters PET images showed no change in the value of SUV. Conclusion: for pediatric patients, PET/CT scan can be obtained with very low dose attenuation correction CT (80 kVp, 10 mA), and such attenuation correction CT dose was reduced 100 fold than diagnosis CT dose. PET / CT scan used very low dose CT attenuation correction in pediatric patients can be helpful in reducing radiation dose.

Prediction of the Optimum Conditions for Microwave-Assisted Extraction of the Total Phenolic Content and Antioxidative and Nitrite-scavenging Abilities of Grape Seed (포도씨의 총페놀 성분, 항산화능 및 아질산염소거능에 대한 마이크로웨이브 추출조건 예측)

  • Response surface methodology (RSM) was used for the microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) of the effective components of grape seed, such as its antioxidative and nitrite-scavenging abilities. Microwave power (2,450 MHz, 0-160W), ethanol concentration (0-100%), and MAE time (1-5 min) were used as independent variables (Xi) for the central composite design to yield 16 different MAE conditions. The optimum MAE conditions were predicted for the dependent variables of the extracts, such as the total phenolic content ($Y_1$) antioxidative ability ($Y_2$), and nitrite-scavenging ability ($Y_3$), depending on different microwave powers, ethanol concentrations, and MAE times. The determination coefficients ($R^2$) of the regression equations for the dependent variables ranged from 0.8024 to 0.9498. The maximal values of each dependent variable were predicted at different MAE conditions, as follows: 3.19% total phenolic content at 142.32W, 44.30% ethanol, and 4.36 min, and 1.22 antioxidative ability at 84.44W, 56.60% ethanol, and 3.28 min. More than 99.5% nitrite-scavenging ability was predicted at pH 1.2-3.0, 30.80-106.58W, 49.32-55.18% ethanol, and 3.72-4.58min, respectively. The results indicated that the total phenolic content and anti oxidative ability showed a higher correlation with each other in that they were more influenced by microwave power than by the other variables, while the nitrite-scavenging ability was largely influenced by the ethanol concentration.

  • This paper on planning constant accelerated life test is assumed that parameters for a lognormal life distribution are depended on changes of stresses. The proposed test plans are optimum in that they minimize the asymptotic variance of maximum likelihood estimator of a specified quantile at the design stress. The optimal amount of low stress level ${\xi}_{L}$ and optimal sample proportion ${\pi}$ to be allocated at low stress level are obtained when the ratio of scales at high stress level and design stress level is unknown.

  • The airflow characteristics of an air-conditioning duct with multiple diffusers were investigated through one-dimensional analysis, CFD simulation and experimental measurement. One-dimensional program based on Bernoulli's equation and minor loss equations was developed in order to evaluate the air distribution rate at each diffuser. In CFD simulation, three-dimensional flow characteristics inside air-conditioning duct were computed for incompressible viscous flow, adopting the RNG k-$\xi$turbulence model. Also, in an effort to equalize the discharge flow rate at each outlet, the optimization procedure has been performed to obtain the optimum diffuser area. In this process, square of difference between maximum discharge rate and minimum discharge rate is used as an object function. Diffuser area and discharge velocity are established as constraints. After optimization process, determined design variables are applied again in CFD simulation and experiment to validate the optimized result by one-dimensional program. Comparison with the experimental data of airflow rate distribution showed that the developed program seems to be acceptable and can be useful design tool for an automotive air-conditioning duct in an initial design stage.

  • Research has been proceeded on fuel cell which is fueled by hydrogen. Polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) is promising power source due to high power density, simple construction and operation at low temperature. But it has problems such as high cost, temperature dependent performance. These problems could be solved by experiment which is useful for analysis and optimization of fuel cell performance and heat management. In this paper, when hydrogen flows constantly at the stoichiometry of ${\xi}=1.6$, the performance of the fuel cell stack was increased and the voltage difference between each cells was decreased according to the increase of air stoichiometry by 2.0, 2.5, 3.0. Therefore, the control of air flow rate in the same gas channel is important to get higher performance. Purpose of this research is to expect operation temperature, flow rate, performance and mass transportation through experiment and to help actual manufacture of PEM fuel cell stack.

  • Wheel tracking and ravelling tests were conducted on the hot mix crumb rubber modified asphalt concrete usmg waste tire t to evaluate the mechanical prope$\pi$ies in comparison with conventional asphalt concrete. According to the test results, the m modified product, lias superior to the conventional one by 50% in the resistance of permanent deformation and by 15% in the m resistance of dmability. The experimental results should recommend thut the waste tir$\xi$ is positively recycled for asphak concrete.

  • 가동중조사(ISI)에 적용되는 ASME-MI 의 1974년 Edition에 ISI시 검출된 흠함을 평가하는 절 차가 제시되었다는 것은 이미 언급한 바 있다. 가동중검사의 개념은 ASME-III에 따라 건설된 부품이라 하더라도 원자력발전소의 온 수명기간동안 또는 정해진 수명기간동안 재료 내부에 흠 함이 전혀 생기지 않는다거나 또는 성장하지 않는다고 볼 수 없다는데 에 근거를 둔 것이다. 즉, 부품을 건설할 때 ASME-III의 규정에 따라 수행한 비파괴시험(nondestructive examination)에 의하여 합격된 부품이라 할지라도 시험방법의 유효성 및 합격기준등에 의하여 발견되지 않았 거나, 발견되었더라도 합격된 흠합등이 있을 수 있다. 이러한 흠함들이 원자로의 가동과 더불어 성장하거나, 또는 부품의 사용조건에 따라 흠함이 새로이 발생할 경우는 RCPB의 구조적 건전성 및 안정성은 위협을 받게된다. 이에 대처하기 위하여 원자력발전소의 전수명기간의 통하여 정 기적으로 ISI를 수행해 줄 것이 10CFR50의 50, 55a, "Codes and Standards"에 법적으로 명문 화되어 있다. ISI 시발견된 흠함은 그 크기를 평가하여 합격기준을 초과하는 경우에는, 흠함의 제거(removal), 항리(repair), 부품의 대체(replacement), 또는 파괴력학적인 해석에 의하여 그러한 흠함이 구조건 안전성을 손상시키지 않는다는 것을 입증해 주어야 한다. ISI 시에 검출된 흠함을 평가하고 파괴력학적으로 해석하는 규정으로서 ASME-XI에 명시된 절차는 다음과 같다.차는 다음과 같다.

  • The cautious blasting works had been used with emulsion explosion electric M/S delay caps. Drill depth was from 3m to 6m with Crawler Drill ${\phi}70mm$ on the calcalious sand stone (soft -modelate -semi hard Rock). The total numbers of test blast were 88. Scale distance were induced 15.52-60.32. It was applied to propagation Law in blasting vibration as follows. Above equation is worked by the U.S Bureau of Mines to determine peak particle velocity. The propagation Law can be catagorized in three groups. The data are grouped by test and P.P.V. The linear grouping of the data permits their representation by an equation of the form ; $V=K(\frac{D}{W^{\frac{1}{3}})^{-n}$ The value of K(41 or 124) and n(1.41 or 1.66) were determined for each set of data by the method of least squores. Statistical tests showed that a common slope, n, could be used for all data of a given components. Charge and reduction exponents carried out by multiple regressional analysis. It's divided into under loom over loom distance because the frequency is verified by the distance from blast site. Empirical equation of cautious blasting vibration is as follows.   • This paper explores the throughput performance of CSMA/CA-based DCF protocol over both ideal channels and fading channels with payload size at the MAC layer in the 802.11a wireless LAN. In the ideal channel, there are no errors and at the transmission cycle there is one and only one active station which always has a packet to send and other stations can only accept packets and provide acknowledgements. In the fading channel, bit errors appear in the channel randomly and the number of stations is assumed to be fixed. And each station always has packets for transmission. In other words, we operate in saturation conditions. Up to now conventional research work about DCF throughput analysis of IEEE 802.11 a wireless LAN has been done over the ideal channel, but this paper is done over the Rayleigh/Ricean fading channel. So, the ratio of received average energy per bit-to-noise power spectral density $E_b/N_o$ is set to 25 dB and the ratio of direct-to-diffuse signal power in each sub-channel $\xi$ is set to 6 for combined Rayleigh/Ricean fading channel. In conclusion, it is shown that the saturation throughput is always less than the maximum throughput at all the payload size and the higher the transmission rate be, the higher the decreasing rate of saturation throughput compared to the maximum throughput be.

Development of the Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing Technique for Nuclear Power Plant's Small Bore Piping Socket Weld (원전 소구경 배관 소켓용접부 위상배열 초음파검사 기술 개발)

  • Failure of small bore piping welds is a recurring problem at nuclear power plants. And the socket weld cracking in small bore piping has caused unplanned plant shutdowns for repair and high economic impact on the plants. Consequently, early crack detection, including the detection of manufacturing defects, is of the utmost importance. Until now, the surface inspection methods has been applied according to ASME Section XI requirements. But the ultrasonic inspection as a volumetric method is also applying to enforce the inspection requirement. However, the conventional manual ultrasonic inspection techniques are used to detect service induced fatigue cracks. And there was uncertainty on manual ultrasonic inspection because of limited access to the welds and difficulties with contact between the ultrasonic probe and the OD(outer diameter) surface of small bore piping. In this study, phased array ultrasonic inspection technique is applied to increase inspection speed and reliability. To achieve this object, the 3.5 MHz phased array ultrasonic transducer are designed and fabricated. The manually encoded scanner was also developed to enhance contact conditions and maintain constant signal quality. Additionally inspection system is configured and inspection procedure is developed.
