Properties of $RuO_2$ Thin Films for Bottom Electrode in Ferroelectric Memory by Using the RF Sputtering (RF Sputtering 법으로 제작한 강유전체 메모리의 하부전극용$RuO_2$ 박막의 특성에 관한 연구)

  • $RuO_2$ thin films are prepared by RP magnetron reactive sputtering and their characteristics of crystalliBation,microstructure, surface roughness and resistivity are studied with various O2/(Ar+O2)ratios and substrate temperatures. As O2/(Ar+O2) ratio decreases and substrate temperature increases, the preferred growing plane of$RuO_2$ thin films are changed from (110) to (101) plane. With increase of the 021(Ar+O2) ratio from 2075 to 50%, the surface roughness and the resistivity of $RuO_2$ thin films increase from 2.38nm to 7.81nm, and from $103.6 \mu\Omega-cm\; to \; 227 \mu\Omega-cm$, respectively, but the deposition rate decreases from 47nm/min to 17nm/min. On the other hand, as the substrate temperature increases from room temperature to$500^{\circ}C$, resistivity decreases from $210.5 \mu\Omega-cm\; to \; 93.7\mu\Omega-cm$. $RuO_2$ thin film deposited at $300^{\circ}C$ shows a excellent surface roughness of 2.38 m. As the annealing temperature increases in the range between $400^{\circ}C$ and $650^{\circ}C$, the resistivity decreases because of the improvement of crystallinity. We find that RuO$_2$ thin film deposited at 20% of 02/(Ar+O2) ratio and $300^{\circ}C$ of substrate temperature shows excellent combination of surface smoothness and low resistivity so that it is well qualified for bottom electrode for ferroelectric thin films.

Effect of n-6/n-3 fatty acid ratio on hepatic glycerolipid partitioning in second generation rats (n-6/n-3 지방산 비율이 차세대 랫드의 지질대사 분할에 미치는 영향)

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of diets with different omega-6 (n-6) and omega-3 (n-3) fatty acid ratios (0, 1.2: 1, 8: 1, 19: 1) on mechanisms of partitioning of in vivo hepatic glycerolipid metabolism in next generation rats. Biomonitoring techniques were used in rats (jugular vein cannula were attached). The range of $^{14}CO_2$ exhaled by glycerolipid metabolism was 7.05-20.17% in the group having diet with n-6/n-3 ratio less than 8:1. It was the lowest in the control group. Total glycerolipid was the highest in the control group. For groups with different n-6/n-3 ratio, it had the following order: 19:1>8:1>1.2:1. Secreted triglyceride was decreased by 36.35%, 20.93%, and 13.72% in 1.2:1,8:1, and 19:1 groups, respectively, compared to that in the control group. The ratio of phospholipid to total glycerolipid was 1.38, 1.29, and 1.17 times higher in 1.2:1, 8:1, and 19:1 groups, respectively, compared to that in the control group. The ratio of $^{14}CO_2$ to total glycerolipid was 1.61, 1.52, and 1.29 times higher in 1.2:1, 8:1, and 19:1 groups, respectively, compared to that in the control group.

  • The purpose of this study is to clarify the origin and the variation of essential fatty acid (FA) and food sources of Stenopsyche marmorata at downstream region of Dam. As a result, the water particulate organic matter (POM) is mainly derived from diatom, green algae and bacteria. Moreover, the main food sources of S. marmorata mainly used diatom, green algae and bacteria. ${\omega}3$ essential FA of S. marmorata was higher than ${\omega}6$, and showed about 7 for essential FA ratio.

Effects of Ca : K Ratios in Nutrient Solution on Photosynthesis, Transpiration, Growth and Incidence of Tipburn in Butterhead and Leaf Lettuce. (배양액내 Ca : K 비율이 상추의 광합성, 증산, 생육 및 tipburn 발생에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was executed to see the effects of Ca : K ratios in me.L$^{-1}$ -0:9, 1.5:7.5, 3:6, 4.5:4.5, 6:3 - in the nutrient solution on the photosynthesis, transpiration, growth and incidence of tipburn in butterhead ‘Omega’and Leaf ‘Grand Rapids’lettuce (Lactuca sativa. L) grown in nutrient film technique(NFT). The photosynthesis of both lettuces showed high in the Ca : K ratios of 3:6 and 4.5:4.5 regardless of species. But stomatal resistance of Grand Rapids was higher than that of Omega. The highest transpiration rate of them was shown in the Ca : K ratio of 3:6. The transpiration rate of developing leaves was lower than that of expanded leaves. It was seemed to have relation with incidence of tipbum in the developing leaves. The nutrient solution treatment without Ca developed less growth than that of other treatments, especially growth and development of apical part were inhibited, so that in the both of them incidence of tipburn appeared 100 percent. The incidence of tipburn in Omega appeared 25 percent in the Ca/K ratio of 1.5:7.5, but Grand Rapids did not show it according to the Ca/K ratio in nutrient solution. The highest growth in two species was also shown in the Ca/K ratio of 3:6 except nutrient solution without Ca. This study suggested that the unbalanced ratio of Ca/K affected Ca transport in two species because of the increase of stomatal resistance and diffusive resistance and the decrease of photosynthesis and transpiration.

Comparison of Nutrient Intakes Regarding Stages of Change in Dietary Fat Reduction for College Students in Gyeonggi-Do (경기지역 일부 대학생의 지방제한 섭취 행동단계에 따른 영양소 섭취상태 비교)

  • This study was conducted to compare nutrient intakes regarding stages of change in dietary fat reduction behavior. Subjects were consisted of healthy 383 college students (250 females and 133 males) in Gyeonggi-Do. Stages of change classified by an algorithm based on 6 items were designed each subjects into one of the 5 stages: precontemplation (PC), contemplation (CO), preparation (PR), action (AC), maintenance (MA). Nutrient intakes were assessed by 24-hr recall method. Regarding the 5 stages of changes, PR stage comprised the largest group (31.1%), followed by AC (28.7%), PC (19.3%), CO (13.8%), MA (7.1%). Female were more belong to either AC or MA. Those in PC and PR had the most energy, fat, saturated fatty acid and cholesterol (except male) and those in AC and MA had the least. These dietary patterns were more distinctive in female than in male. The higher stage of change in dietary fat reduction behavior, the higher self-efficacy. Energy % from fat in PC, CO, PR was too higher than 20%, that of in AC and MA (except male in MA) was within 20%. The average P/S and $\omega$6/$\omega$3 ratio of diet fat for female were similar to the recommended ratio, but the average $\omega$6/$\omega$3 ratio for male was found to be 10.1~12.9, which was beyond the suggested range, 4~10. In male, energy, fat and protein intakes from dinner were significantly different among stages of change, but in female, besides dinner, those from breakfast, lunch and snack were significantly different among stages of change. These results of our study confirm differences in stages of change in fat intake in terms of nutritional status, especially in female, and indicate the need for taking these phases of changes into account in nutrition advice.

A Study on the Chracteristics of $ Al_xGa_{1-x}$Sb grown by Vertical Bridgman Method (수직브리지만 방법으로 성장한$ Al_xGa_{1-x}$Sb의 특성에 관한 연구)

  • A ternary compound semiconductor $Al_{x}$-Ga/1-x/Sb crystals which have energy gap from 0.7eV to 1.6ev at room temperature with the composition ratio were grown by using the vertical Bridgman method. The characteristics of $Al_{x}$-Ga/1-x/Sb were investigated in this study. The lattice constants of $Al_{x}$-Ga/1-x/Sb crystals with the composition ratio were appeared from 6.096$\AA$ to 6.135$\AA$ with the composition ratio. The electrical properties of the $Al_{x}$-Ga/1-x/Sb crystals measured the Hall effect by van der Pauw method at the magnetic field of 3 kilogauss and at room temperature. The resistivity of Te-doped $Al_{x}$-Ga/1-x/Sb crystals increased from 0.771 $\Omega$-cm to 5 $\Omega$-cm at room temperature with increasing the composition ratio. The mobility of Te-doped $Al_{x}$-Ga/1-x/Sb crystals varied with the composition ratio x, within the following three different regions, such as GaSb-like (0$\leq$x$\leq$0.3), intermediate (0.3$\leq$x$\leq$0.4) and AlSb-like (0.4$\leq$x$\leq$1).eq$1).

The effects of synbiotics-glyconutrients on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, gas emission, meat quality, and fatty acid profile of finishing pigs

  • Glyconutrients help in the body's cell communication. Glyconutrients and synbiotics are promising options for improving immune function. Therefore, we hypothesized that combining synbiotics and glyconutrients will enhance pig nutrient utilization. 150 pigs (Landrace × Yorkshire × Duroc), initially weighing 58.85 ± 3.30 kg of live body weight (BW) were utilized to determine the effects of synbiotics-glyconutrients (SGN) on the pigs' performance, feed efficiency, gas emission, pork traits, and composition of fatty acids. The pigs were matched by BW and sex and chosen at random to 1 of 3 diet treatments: control = Basal diet; TRT1 = Basal diet + SGN 0.15%; TRT2 = Basal diet + SGN 0.30%%. The trials were conducted in two phases (weeks 1-5 and weeks 5-10). The average daily gain was increased in pigs fed a basal diet with SGN (p = 0.036) in weeks 5-10. However, the apparent total tract digestibility of dry matter, nitrogen, and gross energy did not differ among the treatments (p > 0.05). Dietary treatments had no effect on NH3, H2S, methyl mercaptans, acetic acids, and CO2 emissions (p > 0.05). Improvement in drip loss on day 7 (p = 0.053) and tendency in the cooking loss were observed (p = 0.070) in a group fed basal diets and SGN at 0.30% inclusion level. The group supplemented with 0.30% of SGN had higher levels of palmitoleic acid (C16:1), margaric acid (C17:0), omega-3 fatty acid, omega-6 fatty acid, and ω-6: ω-3 ratio (p = 0.034, 0.020, 0.025, 0.007, and 0.003, respectively) in the fat of finishing pigs. Furthermore, group supplemented with 0.30% of SGN improved margaric acid (C17:0), linoleic acid (C18:2n6c), arachidic acid (C20:0), omega 6 fatty acid, omega-6 to omega-3 ratio, unsaturated fatty acid, and monounsaturated fatty acid (p = 0.037, 0.05, 0.0142, 0.036, 0.033, 0.020, and 0.045, respectively) in the lean tissues of finishing pigs compared to pigs fed with the control diets. In conclusion, the combination of probiotics, prebiotics, and glyconutrients led to higher average daily gain, improved the quality of pork, and more favorable fatty acid composition. Therefore, these results contributed to a better understanding of the potential of SGN combinations as a feed additive for pigs.

The Effect of Magnetic Field Annealing on the Structual and Electromagnetic Properties of $Ni_{81}Fe_{19}$ thin Films for Magnetoresistaknce Heads (자기저항헤드용 $Ni_{81}Fe_{19}$ 박막의 구조 및 전자기적 특성에 미치는 자장중 열처리의 영향)

  • The effects of annealing in magnetic field after deposition on electromagnetic properties of $Ni_{81}Fe_{19}$ thin($400\;{\AA}$) films prepared by RF-magnetron sputtering were investigated in terms of microstructure and surface morphology. The coercivity of the films was decreased below $300^{\circ}C$ due to stress relief and recrystallization, while increased at $400^{\circ}C$ due to grain growth and increasing the surface roughness. And then, $4{\pi}M_{s}$, was almost independent of annealing temperatures. Increasing the annealing temperature. the electrical resistivity of films was decreased from $37\;{\mu}{\Omega}cm$ to $24\;{\mu}{\Omega}cm$, the magnetoresistance was nearly a constant of about $0.6\;{\mu}{\Omega}cm$, and the MR ratio was increased from 1.5 % to 3.1 %. Therefore, It was shown that increasing the magnetoresistive ratio was mainly affected by decreasing the electrical resistivity. Considering the practical application of the films for magnetoresistive heads, optimal annealing conditions was obtained after one hour annealing at $300^{\circ}C$ in 400 Oe unidirectional magnetic field.

Effect of Kale Juice on Serum Lipid Levels & Phospholipid Fatty Acid Composition in Hypercholesterolemic Men (케일녹즙이 고콜레스테롤혈증 성인남자의 혈청 지질수준 및 인지질 지방산 조성에 미치는 영향)

  • The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of kale (Brassica oleracea acephala) juice supplementation on serum lipid levels and phospholipid (PL) fatty acid compositions in hypercholesterolemic men. Thirty-two men with hypercholesterolemia (>200 mg/dl) were recruited among the faculty and staff at Y University after annual health examinations. The subjects consumed 150 ml of kale juice per day for a 12-week intervention period. Dietary and anthropometric assessments were performed before and after supplementation, respectively, to ensure that the subjects maintained their usual diet and lifestyle throughout the intervention. Serum concentrations of HDL-cholesterol and the ratio of HDL-cholesterol to LDL-cholesterol were significantly increased (p<0.001) after intervention. Serum LDL-cholesterol concentration and atherogenic index were significantly reduced (p<0.001). Levels of 12:0, 14:0, $18:1{\omega}9$, $18:3{\omega}6$, and sum of monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) in serum pholspholipid (PL) were significantly increased, while $22:4{\omega}6$ level was significantly reduced (p<0.05). It can be speculated that kale juice, containing large amounts of antioxidant nutrients, contributes to changes of serum-PL-fatty acid compositions and the improvements of serum lipid profiles. This study demonstrates the supplementation of regular meals with kale juice may favorably affect serum lipid profiles and serum-PL fatty acid compositions and, hence, could lower the risks of coronary artery disease in men with hypercholesterolemia.

Effects of Dietary Lipid Sources and Levels on Lecithin : Cholesterol Acyltansferase Activity and Cholesterol Metabolism in Rats (식이지방의 종류와 수준이 흰쥐의 Lecithin : Cholesterol Acyltransferase 활성 및 콜레스테롤대사에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effects of different sources and level of dietary lipid on lecithin : cholesterol acyltrasferase activity and cholesterol metabolism in male rats of Sprague-Dawley strain. The effects of different lipid sources was compared with sardine oil($\omega$3 EPA and DHA), beef tallow(SFA), perilla oil($\omega$3 linolenic acid) and corn oil($\omega$6 linoleic acid). Diets were formulated in such a way that 10%, 20% and 40% dietary energy were supplied with each of four experimental lipid sources. Control diet contained only non-lipid energy. A total number of 78 rats, equally divided into 13 groups, were fed the experimental diets for a period of 6 weeks. In vitro cultures were also carried out to study the cholesterol synthetic activity in the liver prepared from rats used in feeding trials. The concentration of plasma total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol and HDL-C/T/C(total cholesterol) ratio were significantly (p<0.001) influenced by dietary lipid sources. Higher HDL-cholesterol and lower LDL-cholesterol concentration in plasma were obtained in rats fed $\omega$3 fatty acid supplemented diets(sardine oil and perilla oil group) compared to diets containing $\omega$6 and saturated fatty acid(corn oil and beef tallow group). In total cholesterol concentration of plasma, beef tallow group was significantly (p<0.001) higher than other lipid groups, and non-lipid group was significantly(p<0.05) higher than the lipid supplemented groups. The activity of lecithin : cholesterol acyltransferase(LCAT) in plasma was greatly(p<0.001) affected by dietary lipid sources and levels. In LCAT acivity of plasma, lipid supplemented groups were significantly(p<0.05) higher than non-lipid group, vegetable oil groups were significantly (p<0.001) higher than animal fat groups, and sardine oil group were significalylty (p<0.001) higher than beef tallow group. Also perilla oil group was significanlty (p<0.05) higher than corn oil group, and sardine oil group was significantly (p<0.05) higher than perilla oil group. Low lipid group, compared with medium or high lipid group, showed higher activity of LCAT in plasma. In cholesterol synthetic activity of liver tissues culture, sardine oil group($\omega$3 EPA and DHA) was significantly(p<0.001) higher than other lipid groups, non-lipid group was significantly(p<0.001) higher than the lipid supplemented groups, and amimal fat group were significantly(p<0.001) higher than vegetable oil groups, but the synthetic activity was not affected by dietary lipid levels.
