  • Purpose: This study is a descriptive and secondary analytical study that uses panel data to identify the factors of medication adherence to improve life care of hypertensive patients. Methods: The subjects of this study were 2,484 patients who were taking medication after hypertension using Korea Medical Panel 2015 data (β-version 1.0). Data analysis was performed using Chi-Square, Scheffe's test, and logistic regression using SPSS/win 22.0. Results: The level of medication adherence in patients with hypertension was 94.2%. The factors of medication adherence were gender and age in Model I of demographic factors, and the presence of disability, smoking, and drinking in Model II. Model III, which added drug use factors, was identified as drinking, drug duration, side effects, drug satisfaction, and payment of drug costs. Conclusion: In order to improve life care for hypertension patients, education and interventions on the importance of take medication and side effects of medications and how to take them will be needed in the early stages of diagnosis.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to identify the differences of demographic and clinical characteristics between child-adolescents who received medical inpatient care and non-hospitalized adolescents after suicide attempts. Methods : The study included 35 child-adolescents who were hospitalized (Admission group) and 114 child-adolescents who were not hospitalized (Non-Admission group) as a result of a suicide attempt from 2009 to 2015. We compared sociodemographic, clinical, and suicide attempt-related characteristics through a chi-square test and logistic regression analysis to evaluate the differences between the two groups. Results : Child-adolescents of this study most commonly attempted suicide by poisoning, and for motivation of interpersonal problems. Admission group had significantly fewer attempts through injury by sharp objects (${\chi}^2=4.374$, p=0.037) and attempted suicide with a higher chance of actually dying when compared to Risk-Rescue Rating Scale (t=1.981, p=0.049). In addition, Admission group had relatively common motivation for academic problems (${\chi}^2=12.082$, p=0.001) and less motivation for interpersonal difficulties. (${\chi}^2=9.869$, p=0.002) Psychiatric diagnosis at the time of visiting the emergency department showed higher rates of depression in the admission group than Non-Admission group (${\chi}^2=8.649$, p=0.003). The results of logistic regression showed that depression affects hospitalization (OR=2.783, 95% CI 1.092-7.089, p=0.032). Conclusions : This study is meaningful in that it revealed the social and clinical characteristics of all child-adolescents who were hospitalized at a university hospital after attempting suicide. This study identified differences in motivation, methods, and psychiatric diagnosis of hospitalized adolescents and those who were not. Therefore, the results may help adolescent suicide attempters to get a discriminatory approach based on their admission.

  • This study was conducted to identify the effects of repeated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training using smart learning on nursing students' knowledge, self-efficacy, and clinical competency. A quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group, pretest-posttest design was used. The subjects of the study were 102 nursing college students who had received CPR training for 6 months. The CPR training was divided into smart learning, lecture education, and practical education. Data were collected from November to December, 2016 and analyzed by descriptive statistics, ${\chi}^2$-test, t-test and one way ANOVA using the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. The scores of cardiopulmonary resuscitation knowledge were higher in the lecture education group than the practical education group and the smart learning group. Scheffe's post hoc test revealed a statistically significant difference among groups (F=8.23, p=<.001). The self-efficacy of the practical education group was higher than that of the lecture education group and smart learning group, but this difference was not significant (F=2.46, p=.091). The clinical competency of the practical education group and smart learning group were higher than that of the lecture education group. Scheffe's post hoc test revealed that the value of clinical competency differed significantly among groups (F=59.90, p=<.001). Overall, the results showed that effective education differs based on nursing students' knowledge, self-efficacy, ad clinical competency. Combination training would be required for more effective repeated cardiopulmonary resuscitation training.

A quasi-experimental study with a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used. Participants consisted of an experimental group(n=18) and a control group(n=22). The experimental group received the mindfulness meditation program for 60 minutes a week for 13 sessions. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, ${\chi}^2-test$, Fisher's exact test, t-test, Mann-Whitney U test. The results showed there were significant decrease for perceived stress(t=-9.43, p=.025) and improved self-esteem(t=1.98, p=.038) in the experimental compared to group control group. These findings indicate that mindfulness meditation programs is effective to psychological well-being in nursing college students. Therefore this program needs to be considered as a nursing curriculum for students.

  • Purpose: This research aims to identify the physio-psychological effects of applying a qi massage program as an independent complementary intervention for employees with hypertension in a workplace. Methods: A quasi-experimental design was employed using a nonequivalent control group with pre- and post-tests. The study was performed from August 18 to October 10, 2008 on hypertensive employees being treated with a qi massage program in a company. The control group was recruited first to prevent treatment diffusion. The experimental group was subsequently recruited and received individual treatment for 30 minutes. Collected data was analyzed using SPSS16.0 version. ${\chi}^2$-test, Mann-Whitney U test, Wilcoxon signed ranks test, Fisher's exact test and paired t-test were implemented in order to examine the effects of individual intervention on patients who are treated with the qi massage program. Results: The experimental group showed a greater improvement in systolic blood pressure, diastolic pressure, stress, and quality of life than did the control group. Conclusion: A qi massage program may be implemented as a complementary intervention to effectively treat hypertensive persons.

Methods: The research was designed for a nonequivalent control group before and after the test design. The subjects of this study totaled 43, aged 65 and over (23 people in hand bath group and 20 people in a foot bath group), who received a written voluntary consent to participate in experimental treatment and are in the W care center, S Nursing Home, and H care center in Seoul. Data were collected with questionnaires and observations, and were analyzed on the basis of frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, ${\chi}^2-test$, Fisher exact test, t-test and paired t-test. Results: There are no significant differences in homogeneity test of a dependent variable between groups (hand bath, foot bath). The differences between 2 groups on the sleep quality score and systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure temperature were not significant statistically except on the pulse. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, hand bath is as efficient as foot bath. Therefore, a hand bath can be a nursing intervention in order to enrich sleep quality for the elderly because a hand bath is more convenient than foot bath.
