셀룰로오스-NMMO 수화물 용액의 압출가공 조건에 따른 셀룰로오스 분자량과 알파 셀룰로오스 함량 변화에 대한 연구 (Study on the Changes of Cellulose Molecular Weight and α-Cellulose Content by the Extrusion Conditions of Cellulose-NMMO Hydrate Solution)

  • 새로운 방법에 의하여 제조된 셀룰로오스-NMMO pre-dope를 이용한 셀룰로오스 섬유 및 필름 제조를 위한 압출가공 시 열분해 및 기계적 분해에 따른 셀룰로오스의 분자량 및 알파 셀룰로오스 함량 변화에 대하여 고찰하였다. 고속분쇄에 의해 제조된 pre-dope를 압출기에 통과시켜 용액으로 제조할 때 가공온도, 셀룰로오스의 농도 및 체제시간에 따라 셀룰로오스의 분자량 및 알파 셀룰로오스 함량 변화가 다양하게 나타났다. 셀룰로오스의 분자량과 알파 셀룰로오스 함량은 셀룰로오스의 농도가 낮을수록 온도가 높을수록 감소하였다. 셀룰로오스 농도 15% 및 짧은 체제시간 영역에서 알파 셀룰로오스 함량은 높은 전단으로 인해 온도가 높을수록 가장 큰 변화를 보였다. 다양한 가공조건으로부터 알파 셀룰로오스 함량변화 거동은 분자량 변화와 다른 거동을 보였으며 셀룰로오스 용액 제조를 위한 압출가공조건이 중요 요인임을 알 수 있었다.

Effect of PFI mill and Valley beater refining on cellulose degree of polymerization, alpha cellulose contents, and crystallinity of wood and cotton fibers

  • Manufacturing fabrics from dissolving cellulosic pulp is increasing in these days. For making high quality of cellulose-based fabrics, control of cellulose DP (degree of polymerization), its alpha cellulose content, its brightness, and its crystallinity are important. To process the cellulosic raw material, refining of cellulosic fibers is essential, and it is important to know if refining affects those important cellulose properties. The effects of PFI mill and Valley beater refining on the alpha-cellulose content, cellulose DP, crystallinity, and paper mechanical properties of wood and two different cotton fibers were studied. The results showed that PFI mill refining rarely affected those properties. Fibers refined by a Valley beater displayed a small reduction in fiber length in comparison with those refined by a PFI mill. However, the Valley beater refining method produced almost no changes in cellulose properties, either. The refining process seemed to have very little effect on the cellulose DP, crystallinity index, or alpha-cellulose content until the freeness decreased to around 300 mL CSF for wood and 100 mL CSF for cotton fibers, respectively. There were also no differences in tensile strength development in two refining methods.

펄프에 함유된 $\alpha$-셀룰로오스의 함량이 셀룰로오스의 에스테르화반응에 미치는 영향 (Effect of $\alpha$-cellulose content in pulps on esterification of cellulose)

  • Cellulose triacetate (CTA) was prepared from cotton linter and pulps which contain various contents of $\alpha$-cellulose. CTA which contains 2.8 of degree of substitution (DS) and 222 of degree of polymerization (DP) was obtained from V-81 pulp under the heterogeneous system. The DS was measured by the titration method, and the DP was obtained by measurement of viscosity. FT-IR spectometer (FT-IR 6300, JASCO) was used to analyze the chemical structure of raw materials and cellulose triacetate, and X-ray diffractometer (X-pert MPD PW3040, Philips) was used to confirm the crystal structure and to calculate the relative crystallinity index (RCI). As $\alpha$-cellulose content in pulp increased, the acetylation yield increased. Besides with a kind of pulp, it contains insoluble residue which was mainly formed due to the formation of glucomannan triacetate and xylan diacetate during the esterification.

사료의 $\alpha-cellulose$ 함량이 조피볼락 Sebastes schlegeli의 성장, 사료 효율 및 체성분에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Dietary $\alpha-cellulose$ Levels on the Growth, Feed Efficiency and Body Composition in Korean Rockfish, Sebastes schlegeli)

  • 사료의 $\alpha-cellulose$ 함량이 조피볼락의 성장, 사료 효율, 영양소 이용 효율 및 체조성에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위해 209 전후의 조피볼락 치어를 대상으로 사료의 $\alpha-cellulose$ 함량이 $0\~20\%$가 되도록 총 5종의 실험 사료를 제조하여 10주간 사육 실험한 결과는 다음과 같다. $\alpha-cellulose$ 함량 $10\%$ 첨가구까지는 대조구와 유의차없이 성장 및 사료 효율이 양호하였고, $\alpha-cellulose$ $15\%$이상 첨가 실험구들은 유의하게 낮은 값을 보였다(P<0.05). 일간 먹이 섭취량은 $\alpha-cellulose$ $15\%$ 이상 첨가구에서 유의하게 높은 결과를 보였다(P<0.05). 영양소 축적효율 중 단백질 및 에너지 축적 효율은 $\alpha-cellulose$ $10\%$ 첨가구까지 대조구와 유의차 없이 좋은 결과를 보인 반면, 지질 축적 효율은 a-cellulose 함량이 증가함에 따라 계속 감소하였다 (P< 0.05). 전어체의 단백질 함량은 실험 구간별로 차이가 없었지만, 지질 함량은$\alpha-cellulose$ $10\%$ 첨가구에서 유의하게 높은 값을 보였다(P<0.05).

알로에 베라 겔 가공부산물로서의 섬유질 분획의 성분 및 물리화학적 특성 (Physicochemical Properties of Fibrous Material Fraction from By-product of Aloe vera Gel Processing)

  • The fibrous material fraction as a by-product from the commercial aloe vera gel processing was obtained and freeze dried. The physicochemical characteristics such as the proximate composition, crystalline/surface structures and several physical functionalities including the water holding capacity (WHC), swelling capacity (SW), oil holding capacity (OHC), emulsion/foam properties and viscosity properties of this powdered sample (100 mesh) were investigated and analyzed by comparison with commercial $\alpha$-cellulose as a reference sample. The total dietary fiber content of powdered sample was very high as much as 87.5%, and the insoluble dietary and soluble dietary fiber content ratios were 77.6 and 22.4%, respectively. The FT-IR spectrum of powdered sample showed a typical polysaccharide property and exhibited a x-ray diffraction pattern for cellulose III and IV like structure. SW (8.24${\pm}$0.15 mL/g), WHC(6.40${\pm}$0.19 g water/g solid) and OHC(10.32${\pm}$0.29 g oil/g solid) of freeze dried aloe cellulose were about 3.3, 1.4 and 2 times higher than those of commercial $\alpha$-cellulose, respectively. Aloe cellulose (~2%, w/v) alone had no foam capacity while improved the foam stability of protein solution (1% albumin+0.5% $CaCl_{2}$) by factor of 300%. Emulsion capacity of 2%(w/v) aloe cellulose was about 70% level of 0.5%(w/v) xanthan gum, but its emulsion stability was about 1.2 times higher than that of xanthan gum. Also, aloe cellulose containing CMC (carboxyl methyl cellulose) of 0.3%(w/v) showed a very good dispersity. Aloe cellulose dispersion of above 1%(w/v) exhibited higher pseudoplasticity and concentration dependence than those of $\alpha$-cellulose dispersion, indicating the viscosity properties for new potential usage such as an excellent thickening agent.

식이섬유 첨가가 흰쥐의 간 Xanthine Oxidase 활성에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Dietary Fiber on The Liver Xanthine Oxidase Activity in Rats)

  • 식이섬유가 단백질 흡수에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위하여 흰쥐에 pectin 및 ${\alpha}-cellulose$를 첨가(0%, 15%, 30%)한 식이로 5주간 사육한 후 간조직 중 단백질 함량 및 Xanthine oxidase 활성을 측정함과 동시에 장기 무게와 사육기간 중 사료효율의 변동은 관찰하여 이들을 상호 비교 검토하였다. 실험동물의 사육기간 중 체중의 변동은 대조군에서는 처음 체중의 약 3.6배, 10%, 30%, ${\alpha}-cellulose$ 첨가군은 두군 모두 약 3.5배, 15% pectin 첨가군은 약 2.9배, 30% pectin 첨가군은 약 1.9배로 증가되었다. 세 군간에 체중 증가량에 있어서는 대조군과 ${\alpha}-cellulose$ 첨가군 간에는 체중 증가율이 거의 유사하게 관찰되었으나 15% pectin 첨가군은 대조군 보다 약 24%(p<0.01) 저하되었으며 30% pectin 첨가군은 15% pectin 첨가군에 비하여 약 38%의 현저한 감소를 보였다. 한편 사료효율은 ${\alpha}-cellulose$ 및 pectin 첨가군은 대조군에 비하여 떨어지는 경향을 보였으며 식이섬유는 첨가 함량에 비례하여 사료효율이 역시 떨어지는 경향을 관찰할 수 있었다. 최종 장기의 체중당 백분율에 있어서는 대체적으로 pectin 첨가군이 대조군 및 ${\alpha}-cellulose$ 첨가군에 비하여 높은 치를 나타내는 경향을 보였으며 특히 간장에 있어서 그 차이가 심했다. 이때 간조직 중 단백질 함량은 15%, 30% pectin 첨가군의 두군 모두 대조군에 비하여 약16% 감소되었으며 간 xanthine oxidase 활성치는 15% pectin 첨가군과 30% pectin 첨가군 공히 대조군 보다 약 40%의 유의한(p<0.01) 감소를 보였다. 또한 ${\alpha}-cellulose$ 첨가군은 대조군과 별다른 차이를 볼 수 없었다.

  • Chemical cellulose from an ascidian tunic is isolated by extraction, digestion and bleaching steps. The content of $\alpha$-cellulose was above 98 wt%, and it's DPw was about 918. A new regenerated cellulose fiber from the chemical cellulose obtained in this study was made using NMMO/water(87/13 wt%) as a solvent by dry jet-wet spinning. The effects of spinning speed and cellulose content of spinning dope on the properties were investigated.

Propyl gallate가 NMMO계에서 제조된 셀룰로오스 섬유의 물성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of propyl gallate on the properties of regenerated cellulose fiber spun from NMMO dope system)

  • Regenerated cellulose fibers were prepared from three pulps containing different degree of polymerization(DP) and $\alpha$-cellulose contents by dry-jet wet spinning technique with cellulose dope in N-methylmorpholin N-oxide (NMMO). The effect of antioxidant, n-propyl gallate (PG) on the properties of different regenerated celluloses was studied using X-ray diffraction, copper number calculation, and viscometry. The degradaqtion of regenerated cellulose from pulp containing higher DP and lower $\alpha$-cellulose content was occurred more seriously. The tensile strength and initial modulus of regenerated cellulose fiber obtained from NMMO dope with PG were higher than those of fiber obtained from NMMO dope without PG. All fibers showed the round shape cross section and typical cellulose II crystalline structure.

구상나무(Abies koreana Wilson)재(材)의 화학적(化学的) 조성(組成) (The Chemical Composition of Abies koreana Wilson Wood)

  • 한국(韓國)의 특산수종(特産樹種) 구상나무재(材)의 화학적(化学的) 조성분(組成分)을 분석조사(分析調査)하여 본바 그 결과(結果)를 요약(要約)하여 보면 아래와 같다. 1. 회분함량(灰分含量)의 범위(範囲)는 0.33~0.76%로서 평균(平均) 0.56%였다. 2. 냉수추출물(冷水抽出物)은 5.50~12.50% 범위(範囲)의 함량치(含量値)를 보였는데 평균(平均) 8.76%였다. 3. 열수추출물(熱水抽出物)은 4.80~13.65%로서 평균(平均) 10.16%의 함량치(含量値)를 보였다. 4. 염기추출물(塩基抽出物)은 최소(最少) 5.51%에서 최고(最高) 25.44%의 함량치(含量値)를 보였는데 평균(平均) 4.23%였다. 5. Alcohol-Benzol 추출물(抽出物)은 2.94~5.44%로서 평균(平均) 4.23%였다. 6. Holocellulose 함량(含量)은 73.68%에서 79.10%의 정량치(定量値)를 보였는데 평균(平均) 76.49%였다. 7. Cellulose 함량치(含量値)는 평균(平均) 56.30%로서 46.02~61.33%의 범위(範囲)였고 이중(中) ${\alpha}$-Cellulose가 78.34%, ${\beta}$-Cellulose가 7.66%, ${\gamma}$-Cellulose가 14.04%였다. 8. Klason lignin의 함량치(含量値)는 평균(平均) 25.30%로서 22.50~27.00% 의 범위(範囲)였다. 9. Pentosan 함량(含量)은 7.90~13.66%의 정량치(定量値)를 보였는데 평균(平均) 10.44%였다. 이상(以上)의 결과(結果)를 종합(綜合)하면 회분함량(灰分含量)과 각추출물(各抽出物)의 함량(含量)은 대체(大体)로 타쇠업수재(他釙業樹材)와 비슷하였고 Holl cellulose 함량(含量)은 76.49%로서 잣나무재(材)에서 보다 정량치(定量値)가 높고 소나무재(材)와는 비슷하였으며 특(特)히 Cellulose 함량 56.30% 중(中) 78.34%의 높은 ${\alpha}$-Cellulose 함량율(含量率)을 보여 우수(優秀)한 Pulp화학(化學) 공업재료(工業材料)인 것으로 사료(思料)된다.

Effect of Biological and Liquid Hot Water Pretreatments on Ethanol Yield from Mengkuang (Pandanus artocarpus Griff)

  • This study aimed to increase the sugar and ethanol yield from the mengkuang plant biomass through biological and liquid hot water (LHW) pretreatment and their combination. The results showed that biological pretreatments with 5% inoculum of the fungus Trametes versicolor resulted in the highest alpha cellulose content incubated for 30 days, and 10% inoculum resulted in the lowest lignin content. LHW pretreatment decreased the hemicellulose content of pulps from 10.17% to 9.99%. T. versicolor altered the structure of the mengkuang pulp by degrading the lignin and lignocellulose matrix. The resulting delignification and cellulose degradation facilitate the hydrolysis of cellulose into sugars. The alpha cellulose content after biological-LHW pretreatment was higher (78.99%) compared to LHW-biological pretreatment (76.85%). Scanning electron microscopy analysis showed that biological-LHW combinated treatment degrades the cell wall structures. The ethanol yield for biological-LHW pretreated sample was observed 43.86% (13.11 g/L ethanol by weight of the substrate, which is much higher than that of LHW-biological pretreatment (34.02%; 9.097 g/L). The highest reducing sugar content about 45.10% was observed with a resulting ethanol content of 15.5 g/L at LHW pretreatment temperature of $180^{\circ}C$ for 30 min.
