This experiment was carried out to figure out the $CO_2$ biomass and the growth response of Chinese cabbage and radish grown under the condition of high temperature and high $CO_2$ concentration to provide the information for the coming climatic change. Chinese cabbage and radish were cultivated in spring and autumn seasons under 4 treatments, 'ambient temp.+ambient $CO_2$ conc.', 'ambient temp.+elevated $CO_2$ conc.', 'elevated temp.+ ambient $CO_2$ conc.', and 'elevated temp. +elevated $CO_2$ conc.'. The 'elevated temp,' plot was maintained at 5 higher than 'ambient temp. (outside temperature)'and the 'elevated $CO_2$ cone.' plot was done in 650 ppm $CO_2$. The growth of spring-sown Chinese cabbage was worse than autumn-sown one, and was affected more by high temperature than high $CO_2$. concentration. The $CO_2$ biomass of Chinese cabbage was lower as 25.1-39.1 g/plant in spring-sown one than 54.8-63.4 g/plant of autumn-sown one. Daily $CO_2$2 fixation ability was not significantly different between spring- and autumn-sown Chinese cabbage as 1.9-2.9, 2.7-3.1 kg/10a/day, respectively. The $CO_2$ biomass of radish were 87.4-104.6 /plant in spring-sown one and 51.3$\sim$76.4 g/plant in autumn-sown one. Daily $CO_2$ fixation ability of radish were 6.2-10.1 kg/10a/day in spring-sown one and 4.6-6.9 kg/10a/day in autumn-sown one.
Pd based catalysts were prepared by impregnating palladium precursor using incipient wetness method on $TiO_2$, $Al_2O_3$, $ZrO_2$, and $SiO_2$ and were applied for the selective oxidation of $H_2$ in the presence of CO. Their physicochemical properties were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), $N_2$-sorption, temperature programmed desorption of CO (CO-TPD) and (CO+$H_2O$)-TPD, temperature programmed reduction of CO (CO-TPR) and XPS a. The results of CO- and (CO+$H_2O$)-TPD showed the correlation between peak temperature of TPD and catalytic activities for $H_2$ and CO conversion. The $Pd/ZrO_2$ catalyst exhibited the highest conversion of $H_2$. The addition of $H_2O$ vapor promotes the conversion of $H_2$ and CO by inducing easy desorption of CO and $H_2$ in the competitive adsorption of $H_2O$, CO and $H_2$.
In this study, new preparation method of LiCoO$_{2}$ was applied to develop cathode active material for Li rechargeable cell, and followed by X-ray diffraction analysis, electrochemical properties and initial charge/discharge characteristics as function of current density. HC8A72- and CC9A24-LiCoO$_{2}$ were prepared by heating treatment of the mixture of LiOH H$_{2}$O/CoCO$_{3}$(1:1 mole ratio) and the mixture of Li$_{2}$CO$_{3}$/CoCO$_{3}$(1:2 mole ratio) at 850 and 900.deg. C, respectively. Two prepared LiCoO$_{2}$s were identified as same structure by X-ray diffraction analysis. a and c lattice constant were 2.816.angs. and 14.046.angs., respectively. The electrochemical potential of CFM-LiCoO$_{2}$(Cyprus Foote Mineral Co.'s product), HC8A72-LiCoO$_{2}$ and CC9A24 LiCoO$_{2}$ electrode were approximately between 3.32V and 3.42V vs. Li/Li reference electrode. Stable cycling behavior was obtained during the cyclic voltammetry of LiCoO$_{2}$ electrode. According as scan rate increases, cathodic capacity decreases, but redox coulombic efficiency was about 100% at potential range between 3.6V and 4.2V vs. Li/Li reference electrode. Cathodic capacity of HC8A72-LiCoO$_{2}$ was 32% higher than that of CFM-LiCoO$_{2}$ and that of CC9A24-LiCoO$_{2}$ was 47% lower than that of CFM-LiCoO$_{2}$ at 130th cycle in the condition of lmV/sec scan rate. Constant cur-rent charge/discharge characteristics of LiCoO$_{2}$/Li cell showed increasing Ah efficiency with initial charge/discharge cycle. Specific discharge capacities of CFM and HC8A72-LiCoO$_{2}$ cathode active materials were about 93mAh/g correspondent to 34% of theretical value, 110mAh/g correspondent to 40% of theretical value, respectively. In the view of reversibility, HC8A72-LiCoO$_{2}$ was also more excellent than CFM- and CC9A24-LiCoO$_{2}$.
We investigated the microstructure, electrical property, and magnetic property of Co/Al multilayer after annealing treatment. CoAl was formed during depositing Co/Al multilayer due to the interfacial reaction. After annealing treatment, $Co_2Si$ was formed at the Co/Si interface. The sheet resistance of Co 2 nm/Al 2 nm multilayer have the lowest value and the Rs of multilayer decreased with the increase of annealing temperature due to the formation of $Co_2Si$ phase. The Ms of 2 nm Co/2 nm Al multilayer have the lowest value and the Ms of multilayer increased with the increase of film thickness.
The waste ferrites from magnetic core manufacturing process were used to $CO_2$gas decomposition to avoid the greenhouse effects. The waste ferrites are the mixed powder of Ni-Zn and Mn-Zn ferrites core. In the reduction of ferrites by 5% $H_2/Ar$ mixed gas, the weight loss of ferrites was about 14~16wt%. After the$CO_2$gas decomposition reaction, the weight of the reduced ferrites was increased up to 11wt%.$CO_2$gas was decomposed by oxidation of Fe and FeO in reduced compound and the phase of the waste ferrite was changed to spinel structure. A new technique capable of$CO_2$decomposition as low cost process through utilizing waste ferrite was development.
Calcium hydroxide (CH) reacts with CO2 to produce moisture, and sodium carbonate (SC) reacts with CO2 in the presence of moisture. Using these different characteristics of these two reactants, a CH/SC mixture of CO2 absorber tuned for kimchi ripening to produce CO2 in a flexible package was selected. A ratio of CH:SC (1:2) in highly gas permeable microporous spunbonded film (Tyvek) sachet was found to be appropriate for delayed and consistent CO2 absorption useful for kimchi package. Addition of superabsorbent polymer (SAP) as moisture buffer was helpful for boosting the consistency of CO2 absorption. In a package of 0.5 kg kimchi at 10℃, the sachet consisting of 0.794 g of CH + 2.276 g of SC + 0.4 g of SAP suppressed its volume expansion and maintained a suitable range of CO2 partial pressure (PCO2) steadily inside. These optimal conditions may vary depending on the type and salinity of kimchi, storage and distribution temperature, and the material and area of the absorber sachet. This study showed a potential of mixture CO2 absorber to be tuned for CO2 producing packaged kimchi for the purpose of keeping consistent PCO2 at tolerable volume expansion.
This study was conducted to investigate the effect of early $CO_2$ enrichment during seedling stage on long-term $CO_2$ enrichment after transplanting in the culture of pat-choi (Brassica campesris L), spinach (Spinacia oeracea L.), and leaf lettuce (Lactuca saliva L). During seedling stage, $CO_2$enrichment had significantly higher fresh and dry weight and leaf area of the top parts (above ground) of all three plant species than the control (no $CO_2$ enrichment). About 53%, 70% , and 40% increase in fresh weight of the top parts of pak-choi, spinach, and leaf lettuce were observed, respectively. Also, in seedling stage, dry weights of roots of spinach and leaf lettuce were significantly increased by early $CO_2$ enrichment. Relative fresh weight increment, compared with fresh weight of the control, in the top parts of roll three plants showed the highest values in 10 days after $CO_2$ enrichment treatment. In the long-term $CO_2$ enrichment experiment, early $CO_2$ enrichmented plants had 20% greater leaf area than the control in all three leafy vegetables. Fresh and dry weights of top parts of early $CO_2$-treated plants were also increased from 10 to 20%, as compared with the control plants. However, these increasement rates in the long-term $CO_2$ enrichment were lower than those seedling stage, which had 30-60% increment-rates. After transplanting, photosynthetic rate of each leafy vegetable in the control treatment slowly decreased, but those rates of early $CO_2$ enriched plants rapidly decreased.
The main reason of the earth global warming is $CO_2$ and the regulation about it in the whole world has been reinforced to reduce $CO_2$ emission. It is needed that we should reduce it in the process at the production of concrete generated much of $CO_2$ emission as the primary material of construction industry recognized unfriendly environment industry. Based on a concrete, this study was constructed the system to evaluate $CO_2$ emission generated in the stage of material production, transportation, manufacture and developed the program to reduce and evaluate it efficiently. As a result, most of $CO_2$ emission is generated in the stage of material and it is quantitatively evaluated $CO_2$ emission generated in the stage of materials, transportation and manufacture. Moreover, the evaluation system of the volume of $CO_2$ emission which has the friendly environment technology about reduction of $CO_2$ emission at each stage is suggested for quantitatively evaluation $CO_2$ emission generated in the process at the production of concrete and remicon production company could use it to evaluation $CO_2$ emission.
To capture and recover carbon dioxide ($CO_2$), we impregnated honeycomb made of ceramic paper with $K_2CO_3$ and its absorption characteristics of $CO_2$ were investigated. The absorption amount of $CO_2$ on the honeycomb absorbent impregnated with $K_2CO_3$ was 13.8 wt% at a constant temperature ($70^{\circ}C$) and relative humidity (66%) condition. Because the absorption amount of $CO_2$ achieved almost the same loading ratio of $K_2CO_3$ (17.6 wt%), the absorption reaction of $CO_2$ by $K_2CO_3$ on the honeycomb absorbent seems to be going smoothly. In addition, $CO_2$ absorption breakthrough characteristics of the honeycomb absorbent were analyzed at the temperature range of $50{\sim}80^{\circ}C$, and the water vapor was fed to an absorption column before the feeding of $CO_2$ or simultaneously with $CO_2$. As a result, the absorption capacity of $CO_2$ was more enhanced using the water vapor supplying before $CO_2$ than that of simultaneous supplying. It was confirmed by temperature programmed desorption analysis that the $KHCO_3$ produced by the absorption reaction of $K_2CO_3$ and $CO_2$ is regenerated by the desorption of $CO_2$ at a temperature of about $128^{\circ}C$.
