  • This study investigated the high school students' and science teachers' understanding of idealization involved in the physics experiment. Major research questions are as follows: (1) what kind of ideal conditions do subjects identify from the presented experimental context? (2) do subjects think how well ideal conditions are satisfied with the experiment? (3) how well do subjects expect the effect of idealization on the experimental result? (3) what kind of view point do science teachers have about the ideal condition involved in the experiment? A total of 85 subjects were given 6 questions related with the research questions I. 2. and 3. with simple experiment about the brightness of the bulbs connected with parallel to the battery. And another 4 questions for the forth research question were given to 42 science teachers. Subjects' responses were summarized and used to draw the implications for the teaching of physics experiment.

  • Despite the many discussions of mathematics education, there are a lot of controversy of the Radian. Generally, Radian is taken to have two properties. One property is an angular property and other is a property of fore numbers. For this reason, both Students and teachers are hard to understand the radian. This study is to provide a base of the radian understand. In essence, radian has only angular property, and other property is a derived property. So radian is to be understood in an angle.

  • The geoid is the one of major suject in Geophysics and Geodesy. The iregularities of the geoid will affect the computation of precise geodetic coordinates and moreover will cause an errors in trajectory computations and reference directions for inertial guidance system. The aim of this study is to develope the best local geoid model for Korea. For this purpose, an astrogeodetic levelling and surface fitting techniques have been applied in determination of the geoid as a first trials. As a result of it, a local geoid has been obtained with the standard errors of $\pm$0.49m and $\pm$0.66m respectively and the maximum geoid undulation in Korea is found as 22m~23m approximately.

  • An ordinary differential equation in analytical numerics is utilized to some applications, for example, physics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, thermodynamics and etc. But this equation has problems a lots to process in the real time processing by software method. This paper is proposed a systolic Arrays architecture for solving the Runge-Kutta method. it is one of method for solving an ordinary differential equation. the proposed its architecture is very high speed and regular. this hardware proposed in this paper may be part of the mathematical problem solver's tool kit in the future and may be available to many applications in the engineering.

  • Recent studies have shown that teachers should have be aware of and understand students' misconceptions, which is one of the major components of PCK. However, teachers often have difficulties in understanding misconceptions and in applying appropriate instructional strategies to change misconceptions. Thus, we designed a method course for pre-service teachers (PSTs) adapting the concept of "teacher as researcher". In the course, PSTs conducted research to investigate students' misconceptions in physics. Twenty-five female PSTs participated in the study. They went through the research process including creating question items, administering items to their target populations, collecting and analyzing student responses, and writing a research paper. Data source included individual interviews with the PSTs, field notes during classroom observation and PSTs' research papers. The results were as follows. First, the PSTs confirmed students' misconceptions and learning difficulties in physics. They experienced discrepancies between their conjecture and research findings. Second, PSTs developed the sophisticated understanding of students' misconceptions and appropriate teaching strategies. Third, the research experience provided the PSTs opportunities to reexamine their physics content knowledge while creating items and explaining scientific concepts. They realized that physics teachers should develop sound understanding of physics concepts for guiding students to have less misconception. Lastly, they realized the necessity of being a teacher as a researcher.

  • Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is one of the expectable current cure operation methods. Tumor tissue is treated by abundant oxygen in a body and generated singlet or free radical from exterior laser diode and photosensitizer. Current problem of PDT is the low penetration power of the light beam in a deep seated large tumor and solid tumor thus results in low treatment outcome. In the study, we tried to develop interstitial photodynamics therapy treatment to solve this problem. As the accurate determination of light dosimetry in biological tissue is one of the most important factors affecting the effectiveness of PDT, parameters used in this study are the optical property of biological tissue. Since biological tissues have large scattering coefficient to visible light the penetration depth of a biological tissue in visible light region is only $15\~20$ mm. We showed that it is possible to measure fluence rate and penetration depth within the biological tissues by Monte Carlo simulation very well. Based on the MC simulation study, the effectiveness of interstitial photodynamic therapy on tumor control in solid tumor was proved through in vivo animal experiment.

  • In the ultrasonic dispersion, in order to avoid direct contact of the radiation surface of ultrasonic transducers with a liquid sample, the liquid sample is separated by a glass container and it receives ultrasonic energy through an acoustic medium. The transmission efficiency of the ultrasonic energy in the multi-layered ultrasonic system is an important factor. In this study, we suggested a method that can improve the ultrasonic energy transfer efficiency by using a propylene glycol solution as a liquid matching layer in the multi-layered acoustic system. In this method, a propylene glycol solution was filled between the Langevin-type ultrasonic transducer and the luminol solution and the sonoluminescence phenomena in the luminol solution, which is caused by nonlinear effect of high power ultrasound radiated from the transducer, was examined by using a Photo Multiplier Tube (PMT). The transmission efficiency depending on the concentration of propylene glycol solution was observed, and we can see that as the concentration of the propylene glycol solution increased, the matching effect increased while the acoustic attenuation increased. It was confirmed that there is an optimal concentration compromised these two conflicting conditions, and the optimum concentration of the propylene glycol solution was determined experimentally.

  • Reconstruction of collision accidents is to analyze the cause of accidents and collision behavior using available information from vehicle accident circumstances. This paper introduces a collision reconstruction system which is developed to be applicable to traffic accident reconstruction. Our System combines both quantitative and qualitative collision models so as to compensate for weaknesses in each with strengths of each other. I It provides accurate predictions and causal explanations of the collision behavior. During r reverse analysis of collision. qualitative simulation is used to verify a hypothesis and to detect any conflict in early stage of reconstruction. It is implemented and applied to real car-to-car collision accidents. The test results verify the reliabilities of our techniques.

  • The well-used actuators for the attitude control of spacecrafts are thruster, reaction wheel, control moment gyroscope, and magnetic torquer. Among them, the control moment gyroscope(CMG) which generates the torque based on the gyroscopic principle in physics, has an advantage of the high torque output compared to the low power consumption. This paper introduces an outline of CMG hardware technology, its application history in spacecrafts, and their associated hardware characteristics. Moreover, its spin-off cases to the other industrial fields such as ship, robotics, and MEMS including their research trend are provided.
