영화 <신데렐라 맨>을 통해서 본 스포츠영화의 사회적 기능 - '가족'의 의미를 중심으로

The purpose of this study is to figure out the meanings of family in movie , as well as their symbolic implication and ideology. This study conduct the text analysis to find out the images of family on sports-related movie . Narrative analytical methods have been used in this study. The this research placed boxing and familism under three categories. these categories are the boxing by means of fairness and family as a moral group, the defeated desire to boxing and married couple with harmonized love, the self-realization through boxing and family as a relational being. first, in the boxing by means of fairness and family as a moral group categories, the importance of family and role of family as a moral group are revealed through boxing to show the entity of life. second, in the defeated desire to boxing and married couple with harmonized love category, hero endeavors to makes his family's living through boxing the only way to earn money properly and the most his favorite job. third, in the self-realization through boxing and family as a relational being category, hero's win shows that the desire for self realization can be more glorious when the victory is achieved not in individual dimension but in social dimension. The social functions of sports-related movie are providing information, socialization, entertainment, social integration and social control.

영화 <신데렐라 맨>을 통해서 본 스포츠영화의 사회적 기능 - '가족'의 의미를 중심으로

본 연구는 스포츠영화를 이해하는데 그동안 간과되어왔던 가족의 의미와 스포츠에서의 가족의 역할과 중요성을 이끌어냄으로써 현대 사회에서 약화되고 있는 가족의 역할 강화 등의 담론을 유도하는데 그 목적이 있다. <신데렐라 맨>의 내용분석을 통해 연구자는 권투와 가족중심주의의 의미를 세 가지로 범주화 하였다. 정정당당함의 수단으로서의 권투와 도덕집단으로서의 가족, 좌절된 권투에의 욕망과 융합적 사랑으로서의 부부 그리고 권투를 통한 자아실현과 관계적 존재로서의 가족이 그것이다. 또한 대중매체의 일영역으로서 스포츠영화는 사회적 기능을 수행하고 있는데, <신데렐라 맨>에서는 가족중심주의적 내용을 통해 정보제공기능, 사회화 기능, 오락기능과 사회통합 및 사회조정의 기능을 잘 보여주고 있다.
