Waterproof and Breathable Textiles for Improvement of Thermal Comfort by Dual Complex Coating of Ceramics

Abstract
In this study, microencapsulated phase change materials (PCMMc) and three different kinds of inorganic materials such as ceramics, aluminum and far-infrared radiation emissive materials were used for thermal insulation on the waterproof nylon fabrics during the dual coating process. The thermal insulation effects of the ceramics- and PCMMc-treated fabrics were examined by using DSC, thermal vision camera and SEM. Physical properties such as peeling, water vapor permeability, and water penetration resistance were tested. The contribution of PCMMc and ceramics in nylon fabrics treated by dual complex coating method to the thermal comfort was also investigated.
