Abstract
Eucalyptus microcapsules were prepared by complex coacervation between gelatin and arabic gum. The object of this work is the evaluation of the effects of pH and agitation speed and time on the particle size distribution and surface morphology. It was found that lower pH results in larger microcapsules size due to opposite electric charge between gelatin and arabic gum. The effect of agitation speed on the mean diameter was less than that of pH. The pH and agitation speed required for obtaining suitable size in finishing fabrics were determined to be above 4.2 and 3000 nm, respectively. The first emulsification time and second agitation time were determined to be 10 minutes each, allowing reduction of the production time.
