Abstract
This study attempted to systematically analyze the Korean national curriculum to look through the history of computer education of elementary school in order to suggest the implications for the next version of national curriculum. The government recently presented the guidelines for artificial intelligence education into the national curriculum ahead of the 2022 revised curriculum. SW education and AI education should not be in a different type of education but be organized in the framework of computer education because they share a problem-solving process through computer programming. The students could enhance their problem-solving ability and creativity through SW and AI education based on the ICT literacy. Therefore, the characteristics of the information society should be considered in the next national curriculum. It should be also constructed in connection with the information processing ability suggested as a required skill. This suggested hierarchical curriculum for computer education would be helpful for the national education system to enhance the future skill for elementary students.
