A Study on the Design of Liberal Arts Courses for Improving Vocational Basic Ability of Vocational Education and Training Institutions - Focusing on the Case of KOPO

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to propose the design of liberal arts courses for the improvement of vocational basic ability, focusing on the case of KOPO(Korea Polytechnics). As Korea's representative vocational education and training institution, KOPO is leading vocational education, but as improvement in liberal arts education is required, the standardized course design suitable for the goal and directions of liberal arts education reflects the changes of the times to meet the various educational conditions of campuses nationwide. It is a situation that requires the development of liberal arts courses that can be flexibly applied. Therefore, the liberal arts education of vocational education and training institutions was designed to be customized personality education based on the vocational basic ability suggested by the National Competency Standards(NCS) based on the needs of the industry and the direction of the national talent cultivation. So this study aims to contribute to the systematization and standardization of liberal arts education in vocational education and training institutions by presenting concrete examples of the liberal arts education curriculum consisting of 23 lectures and student activities.
