An Exploratory Study on the Digital Transformation of Mid-Sized Companies

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the current status of digital transformation of domestic mid-sized companies and to use it as an objective basis for digital transformation promotion plans. A questionnaire was formed and distributed to 200 domestic mid-sized companies and received responses from 150 companies. Looking at the main results, 79 companies (52.6)% of the 150 companies responding to the survey are pursuing digital transformation, and the areas for digital transformation are business process and facility automation, expansion of existing facilities, etc. (53.2%), manufacturing process big data/ AI-based smartization (43.0%) appeared in the order. The area of support required to promote digital transformation of domestic mid-sized companies was the highest in the expansion of financial support tailored to mid-sized companies (56.0%). 46.7%) was the highest. This study is expected to contribute to accelerating digital transformation and strengthening global market competitiveness by presenting policy suggestions for promoting digital transformation of domestic mid-sized companies based on the results of the survey.
