Preparation of Activated Carbons Using Biomass

Activated carbons were prepared from quartz porphyry, coffee waste and rice hull by chemical activation with NaOH, KOH, $ZnCl_2\;and\;H_3PO_4$. To find an optimum manufacturing condition, independent variable such as quantities, activation agent, temperature, duration of firing, and carbonization were systematically varied. The most important factor in chemical activation was found to be the chemical ratio of activation agents. In this paper, BET surface areas of activated quartz porphyry, activated coffee char and activated rice hull char were measured at about 55{\sim}389\;m^2/g,\;975{\sim}1580\;m^2/g\;and\;610{\sim}1342\;m^2/g$, respectively. BET surface area of activated coffee char prepared by $ZnCl_2$ of 300 wt% was measured at the highest specific surface area among three different raw materials.

바이오매스를 이용한 활성탄 제조

맥반석과 커피 폐기물, 왕겨를 NaOH, KOH, $ZnCl_2,\;H_3PO_4$를 사용하여 화학적 활성화에 의한 활성탄의 제조를 하였다. 최적의 조건을 얻기 위하여 활성화제, 소성, 탄화의 온도 및 시간을 정량적으로 다양하게 변화를 주었다. 활성탄은 비표면적(BET)과 SEM 사진을 통해 그 특성을 조사하였다. 화학적 활성화에 있어서 가장 중요한 인자는 활성화체의 침적비율인 것을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구에서 얻어진 맥반석 활성탄과 커피 활성탄 및 왕겨 활성탄의 비표면적(BET)은 55{\sim}389\;m^2/g,\;975{\sim}1580\;m^2/g,\;610{\sim}1342\;m^2/g$으로 각각 측정되었다. 그 결과 커피 폐기물을 $ZnCl_2$ 300 wt%로 사용하여 제조하였을 때, 서로 다른 3가지 원료물질 중에서 가장 높은 비표면적(BET)을 갖는 것으로 측정되었다.
