The art of the Confucian literati' was mainly centered on literati' painting. Literary paintings combined with poem-writing-painting are based on the literary characters and studies. This is usually based on the technique of Shensi(神似) caused by a hobby accomplishment, enjoying the chinese painting and cherishing with chinese painting. The Confucian literati' cultivated their own character and sublimated humanism to art based on studying. They sought the life of supremacy and supreme gentleness, and enjoyed life on the boundary of pleasure through art. The aesthetic of Sunbi Spirit is mainly in the customs of Sunbi, the loyalty of Sunbi, the Silhak(實學) of Sunbi, and loving of the people of Sunbi. We can find honor and loyalty in the Sunbi spirit of the Confucian literati' of the Joseon Dynasty. In addition, it is also possible to observe the loyal troops, the hard work for the country, and the Pung-ryu with nature. In other words, the Sunbi honor, loyalty, loyal troops, pursuit of study and the Pung-ryu show the spirit of the Confucian literati' of Joseon Dynasty. 유가의 문인은 자신의 성정을 수양하고 학문을 바탕으로 한 인본주의를 예술로 승화시켰다. 그들은 지고와 지선의 삶을 추구하며 예술을 통하여 열락의 경계에서 삶을 향유하였다. 유가 문인의 예술은 주로 문인화를 중심으로 나타났다. 시서화가 어우러진 문인화는 문인의 인품과 학문을 전제로 한다. 이는 보통 여기(餘技)와 묵희(墨戱)·석묵(惜墨)으로 인한 신사(神似)의 기법을 바탕으로 한다. 유가 문인예술의 지향은 사의성(寫意性)의 추구(追求)·정신성(精神性)의 추구(追求)·유·도가미학의 혼융추구에 있다. 이는 유가 문인예술이 존재하는 이유가 학문을 바탕으로 한 그들의 고매한 정신세계에 있었기 때문이다. 조선조 유가 문인의 선비정신은 우선 절의는 절개와 의리 그리고 충절에서 찾아 볼 수 있다. 또한 의병활동과 구국을 위한 강학활동, 성정을 자연과 함께 한 풍류에서도 살펴볼 수 있다. 즉, 선비의 절의(節義)·충절(忠節)·의병(義兵)·강학(講學)·풍류(風流)등이 조선조 선비들의 정신경계를 보여주는 대표적인 예이다. 이를 직접적으로 보여주는 것이 문인화에 담겨진 화제이다. 여기에 유가 문인의 흉중을 바로 읽어볼 수 있다. 따라서 이러한 선비정신의 미의식은 풍류·충절·실학·애민·의리·사랑 등에서 그 미학을 새겨볼 수 있다. 선비정신의 예술적 구현을 위한 예술의 심미체험은 주로 감성지능에 의한 심미의 체험과 개인의 성향에 따른 심미체험이 있다. 이는 우리의 여러 문인화에서 살펴볼 수 있다. 따라서 조선조 유가 문인예술에 드러난 선비정신은 정신 지향성이었으며 여유 지향성이었다. 나아가 사의 지향성과 실득 지향성이 있어 선비정신의 특질이 다양하게 구비되어 있음을 살펴볼 수 있다.
