Abstract
Purpose : The study aimed at identifying the current measurement status of presbyopic addition test in order to suggest a measurement process suitable and items for diagnosing the presbyopic addition. Methods : A survey questionnaire was distributed to 177 opticians working in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, Gyeongsang-do, Jeolla-do areas, collected and analyzed the result. Result : 134 subjects (75.7%) carried out binocular balance examination before the addition examination. For addition examination time, 40 of 177 subjects (22.6%) did before the binocular balance examination, 134 of 177 subjects (75.7%) did the examination after the binocular balance examination, and 69 of 177 subjects (39.0%) carried out addition examination after the wear examination of distance correction glasses. 24 subjects (13.6%) conducted the addition examination with monocular, 77 subjects (43.5%) did the examination with binocular, and 76 subjects (42.9%) did with both depending on the situation. 36 subjects (20.3%) were not found amplitude of accommodation, and they addition test conducted with binocular on the situation. 69 subjects(39.0%) were found to do the verification of the range of clear vision after addition measurement. For addition diagnosis, monocular was 37 subjects (20.9%), binocular was 99 subjects (55.9%), and monocular or binocular was 41 subjects (23.2%). Conclusion : In order to diagnose appropriate addition, it is needed to understanding of the necessity for the examination before the measurement of addition, the time of addition measurement, the method of addition measurement, the verification of rage of amplitude of accommodation and clear vision.
