Current Status and Strategies for Reading Clubs: the Case of Local Government Support

Abstract
With social support for reading clubs expanding, the purpose of this study is to examine the operational status of reading clubs, to investigate how useful policy support is, and to discuss the challenges to be solved in order to vitalize the reading clubs in the future. To the end, this study intends (1) to investigate the composition of the reading club and the status of participation in the reading clubs, (2) to analyze the satisfaction of club activities from the perspective of club members, and identify the results and the meaning of support activities so far, and (3) to discuss strategies to vitalize reading clubs. The data for discussion were collected through a survey of reading club members supported by a local government, and the collected data was analyzed using frequency analysis.
