Abstract
Zolpidem is one of commonly prescribed hypnotics in worldwide. Zolpidem is more favored than benzodiazepines because of its efficacy and safety profiles. However there were many reports those concerns about adverse drug reactions such as delirium, nightmares and hallucinations. The report of Kim et al. showed that zolpidem induced delirium occurred in 4.0% in inpatients. Moreover, old age and concomitant use of benzodiazepine were risk factors for zolpidem related delirium. Therefore, clinicians carefully consider the risk factors when prescribe zolpidem, and the careful monitoring of patients about various adverse reactions after administration.
