A Study on The Financial Operation Systems of a Complex Cultural Space - Based on Dongdaemun Design Plaza(DDP) -

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analyze the financial operation system of Cultural Complexes. DDP was visited by over 6.8 million people in 2014, which led to a 20 percent increase in the number of visitors to the Dongdaemun commercial district, and contributing a great deal to vitalizing the Dongdaemun area. This study looked at the Dongdaemun area regeneration plans and budgets in conjunction with DDP. Then, through analysis of financial management DDP operatingt three years and lead to improvements in the future direction and operations budget commitment. The analysis reached the conclusion as follows. First, gradual financial Self-Reliance of the DDP is needed than short-term financial independence. Second, DDP, as well as quantitative indicators such as its revenue and expenditure also take into account qualitative indicators, such as cultural and social contributions. Lastly, DDP needs a secure way of gaining both direct support from the Government and indirect support from private entities.
