High shear viscosity at several solids levels was measured for a number of pigment slurries and coating colors containing either anionic or amphoteric latex and analyzed according to Mooney and Eiler equations. Maximum packing fraction and intrinsic viscosity were obtained and compared. Eiler equation provides more credible information than Mooney equation on particle packing and intrinsic viscosity. The packing fraction obtained from Eiler equation was slightly greater than that obtained from static FCC measurement indicating the influence of pigment movement under the dynamic condition. Amphoteric latex caused 4-5% increase of maximum packing fraction of a coating color when its pH is lowered from 7 to 6, while anionic latex did not show any significant change in packing characteristics.

This experiment was mainly performed with a biological treatment of laser printed paper using enzyme, We got the following conclusions : In the case of nonionic surfactant treatment, brightness, residual ink contents and several strength properties of deinked paper were excellent at the low dosage of cellulase 0.05%. When mixed cellulase and xylanase was used, yield was increased as the dosage increased up to 0.2%, but brightness was decreased at the same condition. In contrast, deinking efficiency of anionic type was reduced in terms of brightness, residual ink contents, and tensile strength. As flotation time was increased, yield decreased and brightness increased slightly. On the other hand, the addition of surfactant during repulping process showed better result than that during flotation process.

오늘날 열대림 면적의 급격한 감소, 지구온난화등 지구환경 보전의 관점에서 이들 목재이외의 자원의 활용 및 양마와 같은 새로운 비목재자원 개발의 중요성이 재인식되기에 이르렀으며, 이 가운데서 양마는 생장이 라르고 수확량이 크며, 목질부의 단섬유는 물론 긴 섬유장을 가진 인피부섬유로 구성되어 있고, 실리카함량도 매우 적어, 특히 산림자원이 부족한 개발도상국에서 펄프.제지용 자원으로서 주목되고 있다. 양마가펄프.제지용자원으로서 오늘날과 같은 세계적 주목을 받게 된 것은 미국 농무성 북부지역연구센타 에서 이루어진 “새로운 섬유작물”에 관한 기초연구에서 양마가 제지용 섬유작물로서 높이 평가되고 있다. 양마의 경우 인피부는 비교적 리그닌함량이 적고, 목질부는 활엽수재에 가까운 리그닌을 함유하고 있는데다, 섬유형태에 있어서도 인피부와 목질부간에 큰 차이가 발견된다. 본 연구에서는 양마를 중성아황산법으로 전처리하여 제조한 반화학펄프로 부터 제조한 종이의 광학적 성질을 검토하였다 펄프의 광학적 성질은 원료의 화학적 조성,섬유의 형태, 부위.화학적 처리정도, 원료의 저장기간 및 충전제의 첨가에 따라 크게 영향을 받았다. 장섬유와 낮은 리그닌함량을 가진 전간부 펄프시트는 불투명도가 낮았으며, 목질부 펄프로부터 상대적으로 밀도가 다소 높고, 불투명도도 높은 종이를 만들 수 있었다. 펄프원료의 저장기간이 백색도를 낮추었으며, 불투명도에는 그다지 영향하지 않았다. 약품전처리 및 표백이 백색도 및 불투명도에 크게 영향하였고, 특히 충전제 첨가로 광산란을 증가시켜 불투명도가 높은 종이를 제조할 수 있었다.6. Newly bleaching sequence using oxygen, ozone and hydrogen peroxide has introduced to avoid pollution hazards from chlorinated organic compounds, because chlorine dioxide substitution bleaching was produced a little chlorinated organic substance. Oxygen-type chemicals replaced for chlorine has attracted much research attention. Bleachability of ozone was improved at low temperature and high pulp consistency. In third bleaching followed OZ bleaching, addition of O2 and NaBH4 in alkali extraction was effective than only alkali extraction. Bleachability of pulps in ozone bleaching(Z) was improved at higher consistency and lower temperature The addition O2 and NaBH4 in alkali extraction after OZ bleaching sequence improved brightness, when compared to those obtained by only alkaline extraction. Pulps bleached by ECF bleaching sequences such as OZEoD and OZEopD was obtained by 90% ISO brightness. The brightness of pulp bleached by TCF sequences with the ozone dosage of 1.6% was approached to target brightness (88~90%ISO). Pulps bleached Z stage combined bleaching sequence was reduced the viscosity to a little greater extent. However, physical properties of pulps was not great different compared to those bleached by conventional bleaching sequences. A pollution index of bleaching effluente by ozone combined bleaching sequences was lower than by conventional bleaching sequence, but somewhat higher than multistage bleaching sequences combined C/D stage.

In paper the evenness of planar distribution of mass in a small scale is called formation (orbetter:mass formation). Traditionally formation has been assessed visually, by looking the sheet of paper against transmitted light. Different kinds of optieal testers are being usd to obtain quantitative rankings htat would be independent of the observer but would well correspond to the visual assessment. However, various raw-material and process factors do influence light trans-mittance in paper and do impair the correspondence between basis weight and the optical formation measurement (or visual assessment). As the optical formation test methods do not incorporate an efficient calib ration routine, the formation of the sophisticated paper grades of today the is rather difficult to measure optically and may lead to erroneous results. It may be concluded that the optical measurement is not suitable for paper grades with high filler content. coating, heavy calendering or that are made of heavily beaten pulp, nordoes it apply for dyed or printed papers. For this reason, visual assessment and optical evaluation shoild be replaced with a measurement that gives reliable results independent on paper grode and manufacturing process. Formation measuremend based on beta radiation is suitable for all paper grades regardless to the material contents or process treatment. It is possible to measure even dyed or printed samples. Thonks to a sim ple and relioble calibration, the results are converted to real basis weight balues that remain reliable even with time. The only beta tester commercially available is the AMBERTEC Beta Formation Tester. Formation of paper does vary locally in the web. Typically there exists a formation profile, too similarly to other properties of paper. Therefore, formation should ？ ays be expressed as a mean of a sufficient amount of parallel determinations. All formation measurements should be calibrated against basis weight.

An unbleached hardwood kraft pulp was bleached in vitro with partially purified manganese peroxidase (MnP) from the fungus Phanerochaete sordida YK-624 without the addition of MnSO$_4$ in the presence of oxalate, malonate or gluconate known as manganese chelator, When the pulp was treated without the addition of MnSO$_4$, the pulp brightness increased by about 10 points in the presence of 2 mM oxalate, but the brightness did not significantly increase in the presence of 50 mM malonate. Residual MnP activity decreased faster during the bleaching with MnP without MnSO$_4$ in the presence of malonate than in the presence of oxalate. Oxalate reduced MnO$_2$ which already existed in the pulp or was produced from $Mn^{2+}$ by oxidation with MnP and thus supplied $Mn^{2+}$ to the MnP system. Thus, bleaching of hardwood kraft pulp with MnP, using manganese originally existing in the pulp, became possible in the presence of oxalate, a good manganese chelator and reducing reagent. Properties of partially purified MnPs from liquid cultures of white rot fungi, Ganoderma sp. YK-505, Phanerochaete sordida YK-624 and Phanerochaete chrysosporium were compared. MnP from Ganoderma sp. YK-505 was superior to MnPs from P. sordida YK-624 and P. chrysosporium in stabilities against high temperature and high concentration of $H_2O$$_2$. The MnP from Ganoderma sp. YK-505 differed in pH-activity profile from other MnPs. These data suggest that MnP from Ganoderma sp. YK-505 has different structure from those of other fungi. Bleaching of hardwood kraft pulp using the MnP from ganoderma sp. YK-505 is now in progress.
