The purpose of the Environment Design (ED) for Main Control Room (MCR) of Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) is to provide and create an optimal working space to be free from physical, physiological and mental stress as well as environmental discomfort, based on the previous environment design experiences and to recommend the best ED including the color, the lighting and the interior design. Environment Design consists of three main areas: Human factor engineering design, Interior design with color design, and Lighting design. These design areas have been interactively cooperated in a way that each design specialist would share the objectives and concepts of the Environment Design for MCR. The specialists for Human Factors Engineering design had a corporative role in such a way to provide the guidelines for MCR design suitability of Interior and Lighting design considering the Human System Interface (HSI) safety concerns. This paper describes fruitful efforts to create the best fit for MCR ED among several design proposals with the design recommendations, impacts, and contributions to NPP environment.

A high-speed railway system represents a typical example of large-scale multi-disciplinary system, consisting of subsystems such as rolling-stock, electrical hardware, electronics, control, information, communication, civil technology etc. The system design and acquisition data of the large-scale system must be the subject under strict configuration control and management. Systems engineering technology development project for Korea next generation High-speed Electric Multiple Unit (HEMU) system in progress is a national large system development project that is not only a large-size and complex but also multi-disciplinary in nature. Therefore, all stakeholders must understand and share the functional and performance requirements of HEMU throughout its life-cycle phases. Also in the test and evaluation phase, all systems requirements must be verified. In 2011, the prototype train manufacturing will be completed. It will do test run on the commercial line and all systems requirements are verified until 2012. For the system verification, the test and evaluation process have to be established before the test trial run. Using a systems engineering tool, the system design database(SDD) with requirements traceability and development process management in the course of the development have to be established. This paper represents the test and evaluation process development based on the SEMP(Systems Engineering Management Plan) developed in the design stage. The test and evaluation process is refined and updated in comparison to the design stage one. The test and evaluation process consists of procedure, test and evaluation method and schedule. So through this process, it is defined that each systems requirements is verified on which test and about what time.

A LRT(Light Rail Transit) is one of the Future Urban Railway Development Project. The project's goal is to reduce a transportation congestion in the center of the city. New transportation is intensely required in order to overcome a limit of the ground transportation that is the existing public transportation, A LRT(Light Rail Transit) construction project to be based on an unmanned driving system is the large composition system that a vehicle, a signal, communication, electric, track etc. were organically integrated as echo-friendly urban transportation systems. It also put a huge budget, which is a large-scale infrastructure projects. It is international trend that Light Rail Transit projects apply a technique in System Engineering for a schedule, cost, quality elevations, and to approach in viewpoints of life-cycle from initial construction steps to operation, abolition. This paper intends to analyze RAM requirements taking into consideration ISO/IEC 15288 throughout life-cycle from concept, design, manufacture, operation and maintenance to the final phase, decommissioning, and the study seeks to suggest directions of efficient use to domestic LRT projects.

The contractor management for the effective defense project is essential factor in the modern defense acquisition project. The occurrence of Improper Businessman causes the reason in which defense acquisition project is unable to be reasonably fulfilled and setback to the deployment of defense weapon system. In this paper, we develop a prediction model for the effective defense project by using the Discriminant Analysis, the Logistic Regression & Artificial Neural Network and analyse the core variables that determine the Improper Businessman in many variables. It is expected that our model can be used to improve the project management capability of defense acquisition and contribute to the establishment of efficient procurement procedure through entry of the reliable domestic manufacturer.

Korean Naval Ship acquisition processes are very complicate. There are 4 phases, Feasibility Study, Concept Design, Basic Design, Detail Design and Construction. A number of organizations and support groups exist to acquire naval war ships. Thus, It is very important how to establish traceability about requirements. This work has investigated how to improve traceability about requirements using Shipboard Work Breakdown Structure.

Modern naval ships are large complex systems with the number of requirements ranges from thousands to tens of thousands. To build a quality ship, the satisfaction of the requirements should be traced. In most shipbuilding projects it is almost impossible to manage all the requirements without a proper CASE (computer aided systems engineering) tool. And for effective management of the shipbuilding project, the integrated database for technical data is very important. This paper describes how the requirements are managed, and the integrated database is built in the naval shipbuilding industry in Korea.

This work presents the relationship between the domains of Human Factors Integration(HFI) to develop the weapon systems through integrating human factors into the defense acquisition program. The HFI is a systematic process for identifying, tracking and resolving human related issues ensuring a balanced development of both technologies and human aspects of capability. In this point of view, this paper identifies and analyzes the HFI domains. Based on the results, this paper presents the relationships between the domains of the HFI.
