Abstract

This study examined the correlation between nursing home nurses' perceptions of a good death, their spirituality and resilience, and their attitudes toward end-of-life care. This descriptive survey study was conducted between August 25 and September 20, 2022, with nurses who had worked in nursing hospitals in Gyeonggi and Chungcheong provinces for over six months. Data were analyzed using SPSS Windows software version 26.0, employing mean, standard deviation, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe's post hoc validation, Pearson correlation coefficients, and stepwise regression analysis. Participants' perception of a good death averaged 3.12±0.72 out of 4, spirituality averaged 3.36±0.85 out of 5, resilience averaged 3.57±0.82 out of 5, and end-of-life care attitude averaged 3.61±0.28 out of 4. Perception of a good death was positively correlated with spirituality, resilience, and end-of-life care attitudes. Spirituality was positively correlated with resilience, resilience was significantly positively correlated with end-of-life care attitudes. A study on various factors affecting end-of-life care attitudes should be proposed, and an intervention program should be developed to reinforce these attitudes among nursing hospital nurses positively.
