Abstract

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report a suspected case of pilomatricoma that was removed through surgical treatment and to emphasize the necessity of histological examination for an accurate diagnosis. Methods : In a 67-year-old female patient, ultrasound examination revealed calcification in a lesion on the lower leg. Local anesthesia was administered using Bufonis Venenum pharmacopuncture solution. The lesion was excised using an 11th blade and a CO2 laser. Following excision, irrigation with So-yeom pharmacopuncture solution was performed, and the wound was closed with simple interrupted sutures. Postoperatively, the patient was prescribed Yeongyopaedok-san for 5 days to promote anti-inflammatory effects. Results : The lesion was completely removed, and there were no adverse effects until the surgical site fully healed. Conclusions : Preoperative ultrasound examination allowed for the assessment of the size, location, and characteristics of the lesion. Moving forward, postoperative histological examination is essential for an accurate diagnosis.
