Abstract

Three temporarily solubilized disperse dyes containing a β-sulfatoethylsulfonyl group were applied to polyester/acetate (P/A), polyester/nylon (P/N), and acetate/nylon (A/N) composite fabrics without using a dispersing agent. Except for the blue dye on A/N fabric, all dyes exhibited good build-up properties, with generally higher color yields (K/S values) compared to commercial dyes. During pilot-scale dyeing processes, the dyed fabrics demonstrated good leveling properties. Wash and light fastness were moderate to good overall, except for the light fastness of the blue dye on P/N or A/N, which ranged from poor to fair. The levels of COD and BOD in the dyeing effluent from the temporarily solubilized disperse dyes were considerably lower than those from commercial dyes.
