Abstract

The leaves, barks, and branches of raw Dendropanax morbiferus were extracted with distilled water, 30% ethanol, and 100% ethanol as solvents. And the color characteristics of dyed silk and cotton with the extracts, the dyeability and the color fasteness was analyzed. As a result of UV-Vis and FT-IR spectrum, all extracts showed maximum absorption wavelengths around 280 nm and 320 nm, confirming the flavonoid and tannin components, and chlorophyll was confirmed in the ethanol extract of the leaf. In addition, peak characteristics of typical flavonoid compounds belonging to polyphenols were confirmed in all solvent extracts. As for the yield by part of Dendropanax morbiferus according to the extraction solvent, the yield of leaves and barks was most effective in 30% ethanol solvent, and the yield was highest in distilled water of branches. An examination of the dyeing properties of silk and cotton fabrics according to the extraction solvent for each part of Dendropanax morbiferus confirmed that the color of the leaf ethanol extract dyed cloth was dyed green owing to chlorophyll, and the bark and branches were dyed yellow. The color fastness of silk dyed with raw Dendropanax morbiferus extract to washing, friction, and light was generally low.
