Abstract

The purpose of this comparative study is to analyse the factors influencing area ratio changes in Designed Area compared to Planned Area based on Area Calculation Equation of Domestic Railway Stations. In order to examine the influence factors, the selected subject of analysis include domestic stations which applies Area Calculation Equation during the past 10 years. The ratio change between the Designed area compared to Planned Area to the design standard focuses on Concourse/Waiting space, Ticketing room, Public Toilet which have a great influence on the passenger convenience. The average Concourse / Waiting space increases by 40.11%, public toilet by 33.4%. On the other hand, Ticketing room tended to increase, yet the area ratio change was not as extreme. The reason of the difference between Planned areas and Designed areas are; first based on building and managing railway stations. Second, to increase users' satisfaction. Finally, to embrace the demands of local governments.
