Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effective condensation reduction methods using double wall system in underground parking lot. Opening shape on the double wall, thermal properties of wall materials and indoor ventilation rates are the major variables. The result of the study indicates that opening shape with large linear opening at the top of the wall are the most effective opening shape for the surface temperature increase of the double wall. Reduced thermal conductance of the double wall material also contributed to the surface temperature increase slightly. The most effective method for the reduction of surface condensation risk is increasing indoor ventilation rate. Increased ventilation rate contributed to considerable surface temperature increases of all type of double walls with different opening shapes.
