The connection of contemporary novel and TV drama, the storytelling’s variative aspect - Focused on -

현대소설과 드라마의 접속, 그 스토리텔링의 변주 양상 - '언니의 폐경'을 중심으로 -

This thesis has a purpose on looking into the variative aspect that‘following sequence of story, how can change the place ofevent-meaning’, over shifting a media by doing comparison analysis, between Kim Hun’s original novel and atelevision dramatization from a storytelling point of view.First of all,, in the original novel, it issearching for a middle-aged woman’s life existentially withinbackground which is the society controlled from capitalistic mechanism.This novel is demonstrating concretely the aging process by changingin body of ‘I and my sister’, using a first-person(character) narratormethod that correspond the narrator inside of the novel with main agentof focus. Also, this literature actualizes every event-meaning by makingthe present and the future a waken recollections, and feel alive.Meanwhile,, as the TV drama, borrow corenarrative element of original novel. At the same time, It systematizesdiametrically over complementing events-meanings that are suitableattribute of genre and media as one-act play on TV. So It makeschanges total place of event-meaning different with original novel. TVdrama,, concentrate on showing sisters’ willto free life that escaping from all restraint and obsession.

본 논문은 김훈의 원작 소설 <언니의 폐경>과 각색 TV드라마 <언니의 폐경>을 스토리텔링의 관점에서 비교 분석함으로써 매체가 달라지면서 두 텍스트 간 이야기 층위의 사건-의미의 장(場)이 어떻게 달라지는지, 그 변주 양상을 살펴보는 데 목적이 있다. 원작 소설 <언니의 폐경>은 먼저 자본주의적 메커니즘이 지배하는 사회를 배경으로 중년 여성-삶을 실존적으로 탐구하고 있다. 이 소설은 작품 내적 서술자와 초점 주체가 일치하는 1인칭 주인공 서술 양식을 선택하여 ‘언니-나’가 각각 직면한 남편의 죽음, 자식들의 무관심, 별거-이혼 등의 상황에서 ‘월경-폐경’, ‘젊음-늙음’으로 변화해 가는 과정으로서의 삶의 실존성을 몸의 변화를 중심으로 생생하게 그려내고 있다. 한편, TV드라마 <언니의 폐경>은 원작 소설의 핵심적인 사건-의미를 차용하면서도 TV 단막극으로서의 매체와 장르의 특성에 적합한 사건-의미들을 보완하여 이들을 전혀 다르게 계열화하여 전체적인 사건-의미의 장과 주제를 변주해 내고 있다. TV드라마 <언니의 폐경>은 3인칭 관찰자(카메라) 서술 상황에서 ‘동생’을 ‘관심-초점’의 대상으로 삼고, 주인공의 내적 독백을 보이스 오버 형식으로 활용하여 3인칭 관찰자-인물의 결합적 서술 방식으로써 언니와 ‘동생’의 ‘주체되기’의 삶의 양상을 밀도 있게 그려내고 있다. 이러한 사건-의미들의 계열화 양상과 주제의식의 변화는 TV드라마의 공공성과 대중성, 당대성과 밀접하게 관련되어 있다. 스토리텔링, 이는 모든 이야기의 운명을 끊임없이 차이 나게 하여 반복적으로 되돌아오게 하는, 영원회귀의 원리이다.
