Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find design methods as regards high rise-high density residential for socio-environmental sustainability in high density society. To do this, this study focused on Hong Kong and its public high density housing as the highest dense housing types and society. Since 1960s, Hong Kong has provided high rise-high density public housing which could not help confronting various problems related to social and environmental problems and tried to solve them. Thus, it would be worthy that analysing and reviewing long-range design considerations of Hong Kong Government and Hong Kong Housing Authority. Design strategies and methods extracted from this study may go some way towards finding our own design solution in near future of high density.
