현대 소설 속에 나타난 다문화 현상 연구

This study examined phenomenon and acceptance of multi-culture ofthe novels in the 2000. Boundary of time and space disappeared owingto development of digital system and transportation to let multi-culturemake appearance in the novels.'The airplane' (Cheon Myeong-gwan) described life of divorced soapopera writer in her early fifties who lived independent life mentally andeconomically, and expressed lonely and disturbed inner world thatwomen consciousness made change from novels of traditional type ofwomen. Writer Choi Je-hun wrote 'Castle of baron Quirval' based onpost modernism by introducing experimental spirit, and explanation andcomment of foreign novel works to give metaphor of both communismand capitalism and to say problem of ideology: And, novelist Haeisu's'Jelly fish' expressed ironical life of the hero who relied upon conflict atconversion of women body and sex into physical values to satisfy hisneeds.'Jelly fish' and 'Castle of baron Quirval' had background of foreigncountry with heros' foreign names to have almost no Korean factors ofbackground, heros and stories. 'The airplane' (Cheon Myeong-gwan)differed from aforementioned novels, and its hero had consciousness andvalues that were not Korean style to be focused on world thought andconsciousness and to be similar to aforementioned novels. The novel works that were published since 2000 were written by the Koreans tobe difficult to discover Korean tradition and values.

이 논문은 2000년대 소설에 나타난 다문화 현상에 주목하였다. 디지털의 발달과 교통수단의 발달로 시간과 공간의 경계가 무너진 현실에서 수용된 다문화가 소설 속에서도 등장하고 있음을 살폈다. 천명관의 「비행기」에서 정신적, 경제적으로 독자적인 삶을 영위하는 오십 초반의 이혼녀 드라마 작가를 통해 외롭고 혼란한 내면세계가 기존의 여성에 관한 소설과는 차별된 여성의식의 변화를 발견할 수 있었으며, 포스트모더니즘 형식을 바탕으로 파격적인 실험정신, 외국 소설 작품의 해설과 평론형식을 도입하여 각색한 작가 최제훈의 「퀴르발 남작의 성」을 통하여 공산주의와 자본주의를 현란하게 은유하면서 날카롭게 이념의 문제점을 지적하고 있고, 해이수의 「젤리피쉬」는 젊은 여성의 몸과 성이 물질적 가치로 환치되면서 발생하는 모순에 기대어 자신의 필요를 충족시키게 되는 주인공의 쓸쓸함이 삶의 아이러니로 나타나고 있었다. 세 작품 중 「젤리피쉬」나 「퀴르발 남작의 성」은 소설 배경 자체가 외국이고, 주인공들의 이름 역시 한국적이지 않다. 이 두 소설의 배경이나 주인공, 스토리 모두가 한국적인 요소는 거의 없다. 천명관의 「비행기」는 위 두 소설과는 변별점이 있지만 내용이나 주인공의 의식, 가치관은 전혀 한국적이지 않으며 세계화된 사고와 의식의 흐름에 초점을 맞추고 있다는 점에서 위의 두 소설과 대동소이하다고 볼 수 있겠다. 이처럼 2000년 이후에 발표된 작품을 통하여 한국 소설에서 한국인이 쓴 소설이지만 기존의 한국적인 전통과 가치관은 찾아보기 어렵게 된 점을 발견할 수 있었다.
