International Interworking Research and Demonstration using FENIUS

Abstract

In this paper, we show the research works of the international interworking between networking resource managers over national research networks, and also show the demonstrations about them. Each national research network of each country consists of 10 Giga network facilities which are based on optical technologies, and also has each own networking resource manager. Internationally, most of countries have worked on the standard for interworking over the national research networks, and finally developed FENIUS.as the results. Korea, U.S.A., Japan, and Europe can interwork with each other after developing their own adapting system for FENIUS. We provide the system architecture and the demonstration.

본 논문은 국가 연구망에서의 네트워킹 자원 할당 시스템들의 국제 연동이 어떻게 이루어지는지, 또한 이에 대한 국제 연동 시연을 보여준다. 각 나라에서의 연구망들은 광통신을 기반으로 하는 10기가급의 네트워크로 구성되어 있으며, 이의 자원 할당 시스템을 각자 구축하고 있다. 국제적으로, 이러한 광기반의 네트워킹 자원 할당시스템 간의 연동에 대한 표준연구가 추진되어 왔으며, 이에 대한 구현 물로 FENIUS가 개발되었다. 한국, 미국, 일본, 유럽 간의 FENIUS 연동을 위한 어댑터 시스템이 개발되어 연동이 가능하게 되었다. 이에 대한 시스템 구성과 연동 시연에 대해서 소개하고자 한다.
