노년기 컴퓨터 이용과 사회활동참여 : 전기 노인의 컴퓨터 이용형태에 따른 분석

Computer Use and Social Participation in Old Age: Analysis according to the Computer Use Patterns of Young Old

본 연구의 목적은 노인의 컴퓨터 이용과 사회활동참여 간의 관계를 규명하는 것이다. 구체적으로는 노인의 컴퓨터 이용실태 파악, 이용형태의 유형화를 거쳐, 컴퓨터 이용형태가 사회활동참여에 미치는 효과를 검토하고, 사회활동 종류별 분석을 통해 컴퓨터 이용이 갖는 사회적 속성을 파악하고자 하였다. 이를 위해"2009년 부산광역시 노인복지 실태 및 욕구조사"자료를 활용하였으며, 65~74세의 전기노인 1,464명을 연구대상으로 설정하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 1) 컴퓨터 이용용도를 토대로, 노인 컴퓨터 이용자는 "정보탐색/취미형", "취미형", "정보탐색/의사소통형"의 3타입으로 유형화되었다. 2) 사회활동참여에 대한 노인의 컴퓨터 이용여부의 효과는 긍정적인 것으로 나타났다. 3) 컴퓨터 이용유형 가운데 "정보탐색/의사소통형"이 다른 유형에 비해 더 적극적으로 사회활동에 참여하는 것으로 나타났다. 4) 사회활동별 분석을 통해, 다른 유형에 비해 "정보탐색/의사소통형"은 사회적 관계망의 유지 및 확대를 지향하고, 조직적, 사회적 이익을 추구하려는 사회활동에 더욱 적극적으로 참여하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 노년기 컴퓨터 이용이 사회관계적 함의를 지니며, 궁극적으로는 사회활동참여를 통한 노년기 적응을 높이는데 일조할 수 있음을 시사한다.

The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of computer use in elderly's social participation. Specifically, the participants(aged 65-74 yrs) were classified according to the computer usage patterns, and the effect of the computer use pattern on social participation was investigated. And the study identified the impact of social attributes within computer use in detail through different types of social activity analysis. In order to statistical analysis, data from the investigation of elderly welfare conditions and needs in Busan(2009) was used. Findings indicated that 1) the elderly computer users were classified in three types; "information search/hobby-pattern", "hobby-pattern", and "information search/communication pattern". 2) the effect of computer use by the elderly in social participation was positive. 3) the "information search/communication pattern" users tended to actively involve in social participations, and pursued activation and expansion of social networking, seeking organizational and social benefits. Practical and social implications and limitations of the study were discussed.
