Efficient conversion of arteannuic acid into epi-deoxyarteannuin B

Abstract
Oxidation of artemisinic acid was attempted with chromium trioxide-pyridine complex. Epi-Deoxyarteannuin B was formed almost quantitatively, while expected keto artemisinic acid was not the major product.
