Abstract

A low-cost electronic ballast using a conventional HID controller IC is proposed. The proposed ballast consists of high frequency DC-DC converter, low frequency DC-AC inverter, and igniter circuit. This ballast shows hot-restrike, suitable operation at each stage of various lamp state and stable operation in steady-state.
