A Geochemical Study on Ulsan Granite in Relation to Iron Ore Deposits in the Gyeongsang Basin (경상분지내 철광상 관련 울산화강암에 대한 지화학적 연구)

  • Ulsan granite is plotted mainly in the region of syeno-granite of the Streckeisen diagram, which consists with those of iron related granites in the area of Kimhae-Mulgum, while Chindong granites and Yucheon-Eonyang granites are plotted in the regions of granodiorite-diorite and monzo-granite, respectively. These granites show a differentiation trend of calc-alkaline magma, and their magmatic evolution from intermediate to acidic rocks is consistant with the general crystallization path of the Cretaceous granitic rocks in the Gyeongsang basin. The difference index (D.I.) is 70~90 for Ulsan granite, which lies between 35~80 of Chindong granites and 85~95 of Yucheon-Eonyang granites. These granites are distinguishable from each other by variation patterns of chemical elements. For instance, there is clear difference in content of some major and trace elements between Ulsan granite and Cu-related Chindong granites: Ulsan granite has high content of K (2.68%) and Ba (636 ppm), and low content of Ca (1.07%), Mg (0.50%) and Sr (185 ppm), whereas Chindong granites has less content of K (1.62%) and Ba (382 ppm), and higher content of Ca (3.75%), Mg (1.42%) and Sr (405 ppm). However, the content of Ulsan granite overlaps partly those of Yucheon-Eonyang granites, which are apparently dividable from Chindong granites. There is an usual trend that Cu content is high in Chindong granites of Cu province and Zn content is higher in Yucheon-Eonyang granites of Pb-Zn province. But it is unusual that Cu and Zn are higher in Ulsan granite (34 ppm, 74 ppm) than in Chindong granites (15 ppm, 22 ppm) and Yucheon-Eonyang granites (14 ppm, 43 ppm). This may be due to the reason that Ulsan granite is productive and Cu-Zn minerals are associated with iron ores. Productive Chindong granites in Haman-Gunbug area and Yuchon-Eonyang granites near ore deposits have higher content of Cu and Zn than Ulsang granite. Therefore, it is expected that chemical variation patterns of granites are applicable to distinguish mineral commodity of ore deposits (iron, copper, or lead-zinc) related with the granites in the Gyeongsasng basin.

  • The radiochemical purity of $^{14}C(U)-glucose$ solution to be injected to normal laying hen was investigated for studying biokinetics of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism. The liquid scintillation counter was employed for determining the activity of carbon-14. The barium hydroxide and zinc sulfate were adopted to precipitate the protein in the solution. The glucose content in the solution was observed as 0.912 mg per ml, applying Hultman's method. The specific activity of $^{14}C(U)-glucose$ solution was known as 31.3 nCi/mg glucose. The glucose pentaacetate was synthesized to isolate the pure glucose from the solution. The specific activity of pure glucose was measured as 28.5 nCi/mg glucose. Therefore, it was known that the radiochemical purity of the solution was 82.7%.

Effects of RF power on the Electrical and Optical Properties of GZO Thin Films Deposited on Flexible Substrate (RF 파워가 플렉시블 기판에 성장시킨 GZO 박막의 전기적 및 광학적 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • The 5 wt.% Ga-doped zinc oxide (GZO) thin films were fabricated on PES substrates with various RF power 50~80 W by using RF magnetron sputtering in order to investigate the optical and electrical properties of GZO thin films. The XRD measurement showed that GZO thin films exhibit c-axis orientation. At a RF power of 70W, the GZO thin film showed the highest (002) diffraction peak with a Full-Width-Half-Maximum (FWHM) of $0.44^{\circ}$. AFM analysis showed that the lowest surface roughness (0.20 nm) was obtained for the GZO thin film fabricated at 70 W of RF power. The electrical property indicated that the minimum resistivity ($6.93{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$) and maximum carrier concentration ($7.04{\times}10^{20}cm^{-3}$) and hall mobility ($12.70cm^2/Vs$) were obtained in the GZO thin film fabricated at 70W of RF power. The optical transmittance in the visible region was higher than 80 %, regardless of RF power. The optical band-gap showed the slight blue-shift with increased in carrier concentration which can be explained by the Burstein-Moss effect.

  • Mushroom is a high in protein, low calorie food and has dietary fiber, vitamins, iron and minerals such as zinc. It is called that mushroom is one of the biggest concerns for healthy foods. When we make the artificial cultivation of mushroom, one of the greatest influence element is temperature. In this regard, farmers passively measure temperatures in the greenhouse as inaccurate way such as by the naked eyes. In this paper, we constructed a display system in order to improve the efficiency of manual management of temperature based on the influence of temperature on the mushroom. In related to the methods of mushroom cultivation, the recent technology apply the new technology such as sensors and IT convergence services. And then cultivating mushroom is managed effectively. In this paper, we implement an automatic display system for sensing data. By using this function, farmers could effectively manage environment needed to be grown mushroom, and anticipate the improvement of sales by increasing quality of mushrooms as well.

Sintering and dielectric properties of glass/ceramics dielectrics due to the borosilicate glass (Borosilicate glass에 따른 glass/ceramics 유전체의 소결 및 유전 특성)

  • LTCC(low temperature co-fired ceramics)용 glass/ceramic 복합체를 제조하기 위해 3종류 의 glass를 선정하고 filler로 $Al_2O_3$$TiO_2$를 사용하여 glass frit에 따른 소결 및 유전 특성에 대하여 조사하였다. Glass frit은 lead-borosilicate(PBS), zinc-borosilicate(ZBS), bismuth-borosilicate(BBS) glass 조성을 사용하였고 1100~$1400^{\circ}C$에서 melting시킨 후 quenching하여 frit화하였다. $Al_2O_3$$TiO_2$ filler에 10~50 vol%로 glass frit을 각각 혼합한 후 600~$950^{\circ}C$에서 2시간 동안 소결한 결과 50 vol% glass frit 일 때 $900^{\circ}C$ 이하에서 소성이 가능하였다. 유전특성은 $900^{\circ}C$에서 $Al_2O_3$-50vol%PBS($\varepsilon_{r}$=8.8, $Q{\times}f_o$=4,900, $\tau_f$=-24), $Al_2O_3$-50vol% ZBS($\varepsilon_{r}$=5.7, $Q{\times}f_o$=17,800, $\tau_f$=-21), $Al_2O_3$-50vol%BBS($\varepsilon_{r}$=11.1, $Q{\times}f_o$= 2,080, $\tau_f$=-48), $TiO_2$-50vol%PBS($\varepsilon_{r}$=18.6, $Q{\times}f_o$=3,800, $\tau_f$=+135), $TiO_2$-50vol%ZBS($\varepsilon_{r}$=36.4, $Q{\times}f_o$= 7,500, $\tau_f$=+159), $TiO_2$-50vol%BBS($\varepsilon_{r}$=56.4, $Q{\times}f_o$=520, $\tau_f$=+119)을 나타내었다. 따라서 LTCC용 기판재료 및 마이크로파 유전체로 응용이 가능한 것으로 확인되었다.

Remediation of Soils Contaminated with Arsenic and heavy Metals by Soil Washing (토양세척에 의한 비소 및 중금속 오염토양의 복원)

  • In order to remediate soils contaminated with oxyanionic As and cationic Zn and Ni through the pilot-scale acid washing, the effectiveness of acid washing and the properties of contaminated soils, fine soil particle and dissolved contaminants were evaluated. $H_{2}SO_4\;and\;H_{3}PO_4$ washing at pH $2{\sim}3$ enhanced the removal of As by the presence of competitive oxyanions and HCl washing effectively removed simultaneously As, Zn and Ni. The effectiveness of soil washing was little enhanced above the critical reaction time, and the carbonate, Fe/Mn oxide and organic/sulfides associated fraction were dominantly removed. The washing of coarse soil particles was highly efficient, but that of fine soil particles($<74{\mu}m$) was recalcitrant due to the enrichment with contaminants. Moreover, the physical separation of fine particles($<149{\mu}m$) enhanced the overall efficiency of soil washing. Therefore, both chemical extraction and separation of fine soil particles showed the high effectiveness of soil washing in the intersection point to minimize the amount of fine soil particles and to maximize the chemical extraction of contaminants.

  • Eggshell strength and eggshell pigmentation are described in this paper since these are needed for quality egg production. A strong eggshell is determined by the components of the shell (cuticle, true shell and membranes) as well as the proper function of the gastrointestinal tract, the shell gland, the Kidneys and the endocrine system. When the puller reaches sexual maturity, the medullary bone must be ready for the laying hen at the peak egg shell formation. The amount of calcium in the layer diet, sources of calcium feed, the ratio of calcium and phosphorus in the layer diet, adequate levels of vitamin D and the dietary mineral (electrolyte) balance in the body fluid are important factors along with the levels of other nutrients. Biological, environmental and managerial factors such as the age of laying flock, temperature and humidity of the hen house, bird strain, disease, egg collection through transportation and others and influence the shell breakage at various stages of movement of the eggs from the producer to the consumer. The pigments present in eggshells are protoporphyrin-Ⅸ, biliverdin-Ⅸ and its zinc chelate and occasional traces of coproporphyrin-Ⅲ. However, there are several causes of changes in eggshell pigmentation such as the age of hen, disease, drugs and surface defects due to abnormal post-cuticular deposits.

Activation Mechanism of Protease in the Germination of Mulberry Seeds (뽕나무 종자 발아시의 Protease 발현기구)

  • The activity change of mulberry seeds protease was compared during germination for 5 days at 28$^{\circ}C$ in the dark place after daily hormone injection of different concentration. The protease from germinated mulberry seeds for 4 days was partially purified and the enzyme characteristics was investigated. The protease activity of mulberry seeds treated by hormone was highest with 10 $\mu$m GA3 followed by 10 $\mu$M zeatin and 10 $\mu$M kinetin. The protease activity of mulberry seeds was increased by 14% with 10ml agar culture that control at 4th day of germination. The protease from mulberry seeds was purified 313 fold by DEAE-Toyo-pearl 650M, Butyl-Toyopearl, Hydrozylapatite and Toyopearl HW 55M. After purification, the specific activity of the enzyme was 175 units/mg. Optimum pH and temperature of protease from mulberry seeds was 5.0 and 37$^{\circ}C$, respectively. The protease was stable below 37$^{\circ}C$ and the enzyme activity was decreased by 50%, when incubated at 52$^{\circ}C$ for 10minutes. The protease activity of mulberry seeds was inhibited by metal ions such as mercury, iron, zinc, copper, but activited by magnesium, choromium, aluminium ions. The Km value of the protease was 0.89mM with azocasein as a subscribe.

  • In recent times, metal oxide semiconductors thin films transistor (TFT), such as zinc and indium based oxide TFTs, have attracted considerable attention because of their several advantageous electrical and optical properties. There are many deposition methods for fabrication of ZnO-based materials such as chemical vapor deposition, RF/DC sputtering and pulsed laser deposition. However, these vacuum process require expensive equipment and result in high manufacturing costs. Also, the methods is difficult to fabricate various multicomponent oxide semiconductor. Recently, several groups report solution processed metal oxide TFTs for low cost and non vacuum process. In this study, we have newly developed solution-processed TFTs based on Ti-related multi-component transparent oxide, i. e., InTiO as the active layer. We propose new multicomponent oxide, Titanium indium oxide(TiInO), to fabricate the high performance TFT through the sol-gel method. We investigated the influence of relative compositions of Ti on the electrical properties. Indium nitrate hydrate [$In(NO^3).xH_2O$] and Titanium isobutoxide [$C_{16}H_{36}O_4Ti$] were dissolved in acetylacetone. Then monoethanolamine (MEA) and acetic acid ($CH_3COOH$) were added to the solution. The molar concentration of indium was kept as 0.1 mol concentration and the amount of Ti was varied according to weighting percent (0, 5, 10%). The complex solutions become clear and homogeneous after stirring for 24 hours. Heavily boron (p+) doped Si wafer with 100nm thermally grown $SiO_2$ serve as the gate and gate dielectric of the TFT, respectively. TiInO thin films were deposited using the sol-gel solution by the spin-coating method. After coating, the films annealed in a tube furnace at $500^{\circ}C$ for 1hour under oxygen ambient. The 5% Ti-doped InO TFT had a field-effect mobility $1.15cm^2/V{\cdot}S$, a threshold voltage of 4.73 V, an on/off current ratio grater than $10^7$, and a subthreshold slop of 0.49 V/dec. The 10% Ti-doped InO TFT had a field-effect mobility $1.03\;cm^2/V{\cdot}S$, a threshold voltage of 1.87 V, an on/off current ration grater than $10^7$, and a subthreshold slop of 0.67 V/dec.

플라스틱 기판상에 저온 증착된 IZO박막의 특성 연구

  • 차세대 디스플레이로 널리 알려져 있는 플렉서블 디스플레이는 휴대하기 쉽고, 깨지지 않으며, 변형이 자유로워 현재 우리 사회에 크게 주목받고 있다. 플렉서블 디스플레이의 구현을 위해서는 기존의 유리 기반 디스플레이 소자 기술에 더하여 플렉서블 기판소재에 적용 가능한 투명전도막 기술의 확립이 필요하다. 디스플레이 산업에서 주로 사용되는 투명전도막은 ITO (indium tin oxide) 및 IZO (indium zinc oxide)와 같은 투명전도성 산화물 박막 (TCO, transparent conducting oxide)이다. 그런데 플라스틱 기판이 굽힘 환경에 놓이게 되면 그 위에 증착된 산화물 박막이 쉽게 파손될 수 있다. 따라서 플렉서블 디스플레이 기술에 있어서 변형에 따른 TCO 박막의 파괴 거동에 대한 연구가 필수적이다. 본 연구에서는 PET (polyethylene terephthalate) 기판 상에 증착된 IZO 박막의 반복 굽힘 시 계면구조 변화에 따른 파괴거동을 조사하였다. 플라스틱 기판의 사용을 위해서는 산소 및 수분의 투과 방지막이 필요하며 본 연구에서는 투과 방지막 (또는 보호막)으로서 $SiO_x$ 박막을 적용하였다. IZO 박막은 $In_2O_3$ - 10 wt% ZnO 타겟을 사용하여 RF magnetron sputtering법으로 $100^{\circ}C$ 미만에서 저온 증착하였다. 보호막으로 사용되는 $SiO_x$ 박막은 HMDSO (hexamethyldisiloxane)와 Ar 및 $O_2$ 혼합기체를 이용하는 PECVD 방법으로 합성하였다. 변형에 따른 TCO 박막의 파괴 거동을 조사하기 위하여 반복 굽힘 시험 (cyclic- bending test)을 실시하였다. 반복 굽힘 시험 중 실시간으로 IZO 박막의 전기저항 변화를 측정하여 박막의 파괴 거동을 모니터링 하였다. 시편 A (135 nm-thick IZO/PET), B (135 nm-thick IZO/ 90 nm-thick $SiO_x$/PET), C (135nm-thick IZO/ 300 nm-thick $SiO_x$/PET)에 대하여 곡지름 35mm, 1000회 반복 굽힘을 실시하여 변형 중의 전기저항 변화를 조사하였다. 그리고 굽힘 시험 완료 후, FE-SEM을 이용한 시편 표면형상 관찰을 통하여 균열생성 정도를 관찰하였다. 반복 굽힘 시험 결과, A 와 C 시편의 경우, 각각 반복 굽힘 20회, 550회에서 급격한 전기저항의 증가가 관찰되었다. 그러나 B 시편의 경우, 1000회 반복 굽힘 후에도 전기저항의 변화는 나타나지 않았다. 이와 같이 반복 굽힘에 의한 IZO 박막의 파괴 거동 변화는 IZO 박막과 기판의 계면구조변화에 기인한 것으로 해석된다. IZO 박막과 기판의 계면에 $SiO_x$ 층을 삽입함으로써 계면 접합강도가 향상되었을 것으로 추측된다. 따라서 변형에 대한 파괴 저항 특성이 우수한 투명전도성 산화물 박막의 형성을 위해서는 적절한 계면구조 제어를 통한 계면 접합 특성의 향상이 필요하다.
