  • In this paper, the resonance characteristics of zigzag wire dipole antennas are first analyzed by the method of moment(MOM) for shortening the space occupation length of straight wire dipole antenna Considering the shortening effect the integrated zigzag dipole antennas with the simplified microstrip feed are designed. Since the integration gives rise to discontinuities due to antenna line width with abrupt bend angles, the compensation by the chamfer is applied. Futhermore the integrated parasitic zigzag lines are properly attached to both sides of substrate for compensation of the effect of the dielectric substrate, hence improving the resonance characteristic. The design results at UHF and ISM band are verified with experiments.

  • In this paper, the characteristics of linealy bent wire antennas are first analyzed for shortening straight wire antennas. The results are appropriately applied to the design of the integrated zigzag dipole antenna. Since the integration give rise to discontinuities due to line width, the integrated parasitics are properly attached to both sides of substrate for improving the antenna gain and return loss. The design results are verified with experiments.

  • Fifth-generation communications are approaching, and they will require broadband antennas that include the existing LTE frequency band (1.7 GHz to 2.7 GHz) and the newly allocated frequency band (3.4 GHz to 3.7 GHz). Many kinds of antennas satisfy the required broadband characteristics, including the dual-element folded dipole antenna proposed in this paper. A zigzag line was used to make the antenna more compact. This was accomplished by reducing the physical length while maintaining the electrical length. To validate the proposed antenna, a prototype was fabricated using PCB (${\epsilon}_r$:4.4, Height: 1.6 mm) and its performance was evaluated. Results obtained by simulation and experiment showed good agreement.
